Re: News from up North
Here are his 2008 CFL Stats (Att-Yds-Avg-TD):
Kick Returns: 50-1257-25.1-1 (4th in league) Punt Returns: 63-752-11.9-1 (4th in league) Rushing: 64-410-6.4-2 Receiving: 15-286-19-0 I'm guessing he'll compete with Rock for the 3rd RB/KR spot...
His CfL stats for KO return numbers are no better than Rocks in the NFL and rock has ave. for the past two years is 25.7 yards with over 1300 total each year. Maybe they are looking at him for punt returns but I don't think they would bring a guy in just for punt returns. |
Re: News from up North
Why they would scour the CFL for a return man...one that is already 3 years into his professional career at that. Why bring in a 4th RB to compete for the return job already held by the 3rd RB unless you are planning on getting rid of him or promote him. In that case some other RB might be out via trade. I could add a couple of more things but I believe that my next sentence will better explain my position.
Right now the Skins should be posturing for the draft (they claim to want more picks) not just adding camp bodies. So either somebody believes that he is a viable replacement to a player or 2. Or somebody has their head up their ass. I believe that this guy is a camp body, but why add one now? There will be plenty of time for that later, especially after the draft. Why this guy and why now? I understand the pickup of the Kicker, but this doesn't make sense yet.
Well, NFL (or maybe it's CFL) rules state that if any NFL team wants to sign a CFL player currently under contract to a CFL team to potentially add to their 2009 roster, they have to do it by the end of next week. I think maybe February 15th is the deadline. That's why you see so many CFL players being signed around this time. Whatever interest they have on him, they had to act on it now. |

Re: News from up North
Anything will be a upgrade from step left, step right then fall down for a 1 yard loss.

Re: News from up North
It's not that long actually. Have family in Toronto (including one cousin who has worked with the CFL), love the city, and played some football in HS with a dude who went on to be a QB in the CFL, including with the Argos

REDSKINS PARK, LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA. -- The Redskins have signed kicker Dave Rayner and running back-kick returner Dominique Dorsey.
Rayner has been with seven different teams since entering the league in 2005. For his career, he has played in 43 games and connected on 42-of-59 field goals and 48-of-49 PATs. Rayner, 6-2 and 210 pounds was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played in all 16 games for the Green Bay Packers in 2006 and connected on 26-of-35 field goals and 31-of-32 PATs for 109 points. Since then, Rayner has played for the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals. He has also had short stints with the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions. Rayner played college football at Michigan State. Dorsey, 5-7 and 170 pounds, spent the last three years as a return specialist and running back in the Canadian Football League. He played for Saskatchewan in 2006 and Toronto in 2007-08. Dorsey was a CFL all-star with Toronto in 2008 and also earned the John Agro Special Teams Award as the league’s most outstanding special teams player. Dorsey played college football at UNLV. |
Re: News from up North
This could be a breath of fresh air in the return game but I am not getting exicited given that we signed Jerome Mathis a pro bowl returner last offseason and he was cut before training camp.

I FORGOT ABOUT THAT...GOOD POINT. |
Re: News from up North
This guy looks really good but there is no reason to cut Rock.
|
Re: News from up North
Anyone else think Dorsey runs weird? He still looks fast though.
Not to be a downer but can anyone think of the last Canadian prospect that would make the kind of impact that is being suggested.
I have a hard time getting excited for these undiscovered prospects who get cut annually during training camp.
Mike Sellers |
