I was so excited when he was drafted. He was a football monster at Colorado and I thought he'd be a superstar in the NFL for us.

Sometimes fame and attention can sidetrack even the most gifted athletes and it's a shame. This is why the NFL has so many rookie orientations on how to handle money, women, everything imaginable.

They all say I'm the man and want to get drafted high. Thats what they work on for years to make it big in the NFL and getting that big pay day. Yes, its a tough spot with lots of preasure but these guys receive a hugh pay day before they ever perform on the field. So even if they fail most are set for life. I'm sure there are tons of stories like WB that we never hear about but thats life in the NFL. I'm sure there are a bunch of guys that just want to get drafted and play football but the ulitmate goal is making it big.

Westbrook was waaaaay too thin skined to be a professional athlete. Guy had all the talent in the world but he just couldn't put it together. The NFL was just not for him. Glad he's happy now.

Westbrook and Shuler are proof that bad drafts can set a team back for years. It took Gibbs 4 years to put together a competitive team after the Spurrier debacles and Marty never stood a chance with only one year.

OK, so people are complaing that he didn't have room in his heart for football, but he had enough room for a couple of benwa balls in his A**. His sexual preference had nothing to do with his ability or desire as a football player. That was his business. I just wish that he had never wasted his or our time by declaring himself eligble for the draft since his heart wasn't into it. He did though, so it was what it was, and it is what it is. He's happy, we're happy, so lets just move on.

If he went into football solely for the money, then everything that's happened to him is fair game. I hear him talking a lot about the bad crap that happened to him, but not much about the $10+ million he pocketed (I have no idea what his salary was - I'm just guessing).

Good for him for moving on, though.

Right on, and personally I don't have a problem with it.

I think we as fans look at the football players as guys who have lived football 24/7 their entire life and would do nothing else. It's their passion and their lifelong ambition and they'll hang on to it for every last minute they can squeeze out of it.

There are, however, guys who probably have a lot of athletic ability, found they could play on the college and pro level and decided, "What the hell, I can play for a few year, rake in millions and then go do what I really want to do." Can anyone fault them?

If I discovered I had some kind of talent tomorrow and a company would start off paying me a few million a year, I'd jump all over that whether I liked the career or it was my dream or not. If you have the talent to get drafted in ANY round and get signed, all you need is a year or two and you'll have made more money than most of us will in an entire career.

MW was a strange cat for sure, but I can't say I blame him. The guy is living the life right now, assuming he managed his money wisely. He gets to invest in whatever he wants and pursue his ambitions as he sees fit - a pretty enviable position if you ask me.
