Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk proved once again yesterday that he is a top tier QB.
Against the number 1 D (stat wise) with once again no run game and dropped passes, he played very well and made the throws that mattered in the right times. Like I've said all along, I hope we keep him I just don't know if Bruce is committed. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I'm not clear on this: When are the Skins first able to sign Cousins to a new contract? After the Superbowl?
I know -- that's exactly how I feel. And honestly, after blaming Shanahan for leaving him in injured (which he did), I've come to the conclusion that it wouldn't have mattered. RGIII is just an arrogant douche, and it would have become apparent sooner or later.
He is all those things but you can't tell me he isn't better than Gabbert. |

I believe it's right after the season ends. Same thing last year and they didn't do anything from the time the season ended until FA. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Whatever happens, please just don't use the standard franchise tag again. I really can't go thru another year of the same damn conversation and the terrible media attention it causes.

I'd understand taking the chance with the transition tag though. But even that could backfire if Kirk goes "you know what I won't sign any offer and just play for 28M"... Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Something just tells me Bruce wont pay him 28 a year

We wouldn't get compensation with the transition tag, only with the non exclusive franchise tag, which would be 35. Being able to match any offer accepted would be great though. |

Quick free agent fix: Remember that John Elway doesn’t like losing. Presumably he sees his defense and feels it can compete at a championship level. What he needs is a quarterback, and one who can step in and provide an instant boost to a moribund offense. With the 49ers presumably happy with Jimmy Garoppolo, is there a more obvious landing spot for Kirk Cousins than Denver? That assumes the Redskins don’t give Cousins another franchise tag. Denver doesn’t have a ton of cap space, but they are projected by Spotrac to have about $33 million. I think this is where Cousins lands. Signing a veteran and not using their high draft pick on a quarterback would also leave the light on for Paxton Lynch to turn around his career and become the quarterback of the future, however unlikely that seems at the moment. |

Time to shit or get off the proverbial pot. |

The transition tag could be a good way to sign him long term while allowing the FO to save face and be sure not to overpay him in the eyes of the league... but again a smart business decision from Kirk could be not to sign any offer and take the 28M. But I'd take the chance because I think he is a sensed person and would eventually accept a legit LTD offer. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I was listening to Kirk today on Grant and Danny and he was mentioning how the successful teams have the same coach, qb and so on. It didn't sound like he was interested in leaving. I think the Redskins were always his 1st choice.
I just think if he's going to stay here he needs to be realistic and know he's not a top 5 NFL QB. Yeah we know how it works for QB's but he's not going to be the highest paid guy here. I doubt Bruce and Dan are going to go high 20's. If he can swallow his pride and perhaps work out a LTD at around what he's making now maybe they get something done. |

However, it puts us in the same predicament if we don't sign him to contract. Then he leaves year after next and we waste that money we could have used to sign a multitude of the players that would be on team in 2019 too. I'm ready to lock him up or draft his replacement. |

What part of that is realistic? Welcome to the NFL, where even mediocre qb's who haven't proven anything get paid. The ones who have proven it get even more paid. |
