Doug Williams anyone? I know it's been a long time since that magical game but come on.
Maybe he should have mentioned the probability of a black QB going all the way. 32 teams/3 (maybe 4 depending on where JC goes) starting black QBs in the league. I would take all of them on my team except for Vick. Yes, even JC.

Seriously. That ignorant comment on a message board for the only team to win a Super Bowl with a black QB. Ridiculous.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice

LOVE RGIII, however, if Manning is healthy (I know-impossible to tell) and available it would be irresponsible for us not to strongly pursue him. The nerve regeneration is something that can literally happen overnight. Marcellus Wiley was talking about this the other day, he had a similar nerve issue in his leg and had no explosiveness for 8 weeks into the season he said. He had 1.5 sacks and then literally from one day to the next, his nerve 'fired' and he was back to 100% immediately and racked up an additional 10 sacks the rest of the season.

Now of course, that's grapes and grapefruits but the point is short and long term, Manning is the play. For the short term he is obviously the best bet to improve our chances to win. Long term since we'd have to likely give up multiple high picks to get Griffin that will impede our rebuilding process so to acquire Manning and keep our now and future picks, draft a QB in the 2nd round (or even trade back into the 1st to get Tannehill at a lesser cost than going up for RGIII) would be better for the long term build of the roster.
Griffin without doubt. Do whatever it takes. Young, athletic, throws a pretty long ball and best of all will bring excitement and invigorate the fanbase
Winning and winning alone is what will invigorate the fanbase.

Good points. Acquiring Manning does not necessarily mean that we won't be rebuilding. As you say, a healthy Manning actually gives us the best chance to rebuild, especially if we BA works his magic and we trade down. With a healthy Manning, I wouldn't mind seeing the following:

Rd 1: Blackmon (yeah I know a longshot at #6)
Rd 2: Cousins/Osweiller
Rd 3: O-lineman

Yeah, the more I've thought about it I don't see the Manning move as abandoning what we've been building because at worst he will be a model of professionalism and work ethic for the young players to see. His intangibles alone are enough to make a case for him. Imagine Manning on offense and Fletcher on defense. NO player would have an excuse for 'not knowing how to be a pro' looking at them.

Agreed. Other than Luck, there is no QB in the draft I think is worth staking our future on, which is why going after manning makes so much sense. it would allow us to use our picks this year to build some talent and debt to surround the QB.

To be honest, id love to trade down in the first and pick up another 1st rounder in 2013... two 1st rounders would go a long way to help us secure barkley next year. He's the guy i think would be ideal as a future franchise QB. Let him learn under manning for 2 or 3 years.

So if we sign Peyton before the draft, do we draft RGIII if he falls to us? I say yes since it would solidify or QB situation for the next decade.

Yes, at this point I would be okay with Vick or Roethlisburger as long as we started winning again....actually no I wouldn't....well maybe Vick as he paid his debt to society with his jail time.

That'd be pretty sweet.

This is probably the best case scenario...although RG3 at #6 could also land us many suitors in a trade (Miami, Cleveland, Seattle, etc., etc.).
