It was early spring of 2005 and I was deployed to Afghanistan. Kabul to be precise. In Bagram AFB they were having the ribbon cutting ceremony on the Pat Tillman USO center. I hopped a convoy to Bagram and was in the 3rd or 4th row out from the stage.
Attending the ceremony were a few NFL players. Most notably, Warrick Dunn and....yup....Larry Izzo. Near the end of the ceremony, Dunn and Izzo started tossing mini footballs to the troops. I felt something hit my kevlar vest near my left shoulder and for half a second I thought someone had taken a shot at me. Looked down next to my boot and there was a Super Bowl ring. Izzos ring slipped off while tossing the footballs and it had hit me. I took a picture of it on my right hand ring finger and walked it back to him. He signed a mini-football right there and gave it to me. Still have it with all my other military memorabilia. Highlight of that deployment.
That's a pretty awesome story! |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I've mentioned this before but it's a good time to mention this again. Please be careful about quoting these secondary 'news' sources like 24/7 sports, Redskins Wire, and others that simply find a news source and then write about it second hand.
All they do is say Chris Russell said on 106.7 that there may be a mass coaching exodus. Or say John Keim tweeted that such and such... It's not news. Don't view it as a new piece of information from a new source that somehow lends credence to the original report. It's just an echo. It's not to say that Chris Russell or John Keim are wrong in anything they say. But if Chris Russell says something, and 24/7 repeats it saying Chris Russell said... that's not two sources corroborating one another. That's one source, and another just repeating it for clicks. Don't let these echo clickbait sites fool you into thinking something is gaining momentum. |

Russell is a drama queen and honestly he has very little credibility in my view. I'm not saying that the dysfunction is not there, but I feel some of the more competent reporters are more in a wait-and-see mode. Hell, even PFT with their TMZ-like reporting are not picking anything up Russell is reporting. |

Time to clean house 1.0.
Social media is lighting up. Massive boycott and fan exodus being planned. I’ll talk about the team and still lightly follow them, but I didn’t spend a cent on them this past season, and won’t next season either.

Sheehan also said - Bruce will be speaking to the media SuperBowl - they have already interviewed atleast one external candidate to replace Lafemina Both of these items would seem to confirm that Bruce is staying in the same role. They wouldn’t hire someone to replace Lafemina if Bruce was moving over to that side of things and Bruce wouldn’t be speaking at the Super Bowl - almost a month away - if he didn’t know he’d still be in charge. I will always love this team because it’s the team my father raised me to root for, but i really have no “loyalty” to them anymore. They obviously have no loyalty to me. |

Why doesn't Allen ever speak to the local media? Whenever he talks it to some station in another town. He never speaks to the people in DC. What a coward. He and Dan are just cowards.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
At this point I'm starting to wonder if Bruce Allen has the power to fire Dan Snyder. He's apparently untouchable. I said I was only going to pull for another team during the playoffs.. idk.. maybe I'm not coming back until BA and DS are gone.

Stop giving this franchise your money. Stay home, don’t waste your time on tix or merch. Snyder and Allen outright said they don’t care about the fans. Why should we line their pockets?

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I live in a market where I am closer to Charlotte than Landover. Every year the local Fox affiliate tries harder and harder to make the switch from Redskins to Panthers games. If the Redskins can't keep people interested I'm afraid at some point in the not so distant future, I'm going to lose the ability to even get the games... This shit isn't helping. I can't expect them to keep carrying Redskins if the product is unwatchable to most. Snyder is systematically dismantling everything Jack Kent Cooke built during my childhood. He may be a Redskin fan, I don't know him so I can't dispute that, but he's been the biggest enemy this team has had in its history. The Cowboys, Eagles and Giants combined have done less to deserve the hatred of Redskins fans. My only hope is that attendance drops below 80% next year and Snyder is forced to sell before the dollar value of the team begins to plummet.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I really think Synder and Allen play slapdick together every day. Only thing that makes sense.
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I think Allen must have some serious dirt on Snyder, something that would embarrass him publicly, cost him his marriage, family and force him to sell the Redskins if it came out. What else can explain why Allen gets an expanded role when he deserves to be fired?

That's exactly what I think. Bruce Allen with his political ties likely saw / handled many shady or borderline illegal things that the Redskins or Snyder have done. With Allen being the guy who is pulling the trigger / handling the wet work. He has been at the front of enough stuff behind the scenes that he probably has enough of a dossier to probably get people put in jail, and probably has enough that like you said, Snyder would lose his marriage, be publicly humiliated, and / or face criminal charges that would force him to have to sell the team. And Dan knows this as well, which is why he is letting Bruce do as he pleases, but he is probably hoping that Bruce retires on his own. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Let’s not go down the tinfoil hat road guys. Allen is here for the same reason Vinny lasted so long with mediocre results. For reasons we’ll never understand he trusts him. Simple as that.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Did anyone think that this would end any other way? We figured he would either get shitcanned, “demoted” to the strictly business side, or worst case scenario remain exactly where he is at. Instead he gets total control back over both personnel and money. Dan Snyder you have surpassed Satan in my mind as far as evil people go. Congratulations.

https://thefandc.radio.com/articles/shan-shariff-dan-snyder-and-bruce-allen-are-cowards-who-hide-weasels
From the article: "I went to RFK when the place used to shake," Shariff said. "They have sucked the entire life out of you. It angers me." But worse than fan anger, is a mass wave of fan apathy. "Jerry Jones told us this one time, 'I don't care what you say about me, just make sure you're talking about me, make sure you're talking about the Dallas Cowboys. I don't want apathy to set in,'" Shariff said. When fans stop getting upset or angry, that is the sign they are done supporting the team, Shariff said. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
