Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Alright smoot, I'm gonna give you a pretend 'Redskins future QB pie' you're gonna cut that up into slices, How would that pie look in terms of Peyton, RG3, Luck, Bradford, Etc. in terms of slices (10% for Peyton, 40% for RG3,...)
Wow because Flynn was what a 7th rounder, and hasn't proved anything either. it all depends on who the coaching staff like better IMO. If i had my choice i would give up the 2 picks for Hoyer over Flynn.
I don't want either but if I had a choice I take Flynn. Hoyer? Really? He's a joke. |
Give your proof that he is a joke?
How long has he been in the league? What has he done to warrant this attention? Don't give me pre-season. John Beck looked good in pre-season. Matt Flynn has at least looked good in his two starts. If Hoyer wasn't a FA would anyone really give a damn about him? People use the Matt Flynn was a 7th round pick. Hoyer wasn't even drafted. He's thrown 1 TD and 1 INT over 3 seasons and his career QB rating is skewed because he threw 1 pass this season. Who did Hoyer beat out to be Tom Brady's backup? Matt Gutierrez? Kevin O'Connell?, Andrew Walter? Yeah ok. Let's go give a 3rd and a 4th for him. |

What people need to realize and this isn't just here, is just because hoyer is from NE doesn't mean he's the next Tom brady. Matt cassel had a good year in KC a few season s ago but now he's fighting for a job |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I just think of Brian Hoyer as the next Redskins starting QB and it pisses off. Ask the Chiefs if they regret sending that 2nd round pick for Cassell. They will be picking a QB in the 2013 1st round.

It's ignorant to say Hoyer is a joke

He may not be a joke but he isn't worth a draft pick at this time. he reminds me of Beck, un-proven. He didn't show enough to stop the Patriots from drafting a qb last year. That's a fact. |

Will Belichick thought enough of him to have him as the only other QB on the roster in 09' and '10. That's a fact. Hasselback on Hoyer "He's played extremely well in every single preseason game he's played in. Because the Patriots have blown people out he's played in the regular season and come in with a foot of snow on the ground and actually thrown the ball really well," Hasselbeck said, referring to a 2009 game against the Titans in which Hoyer was 9 of 11 for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown. "I find that to be impressive." "Hasselbeck said Hoyer has an above average arm and noted that the various injuries that have kept Brady out of practice have given Hoyer plenty of time to work with the Patriots' No. 1 offense." |
I don't think Hoyer is a joke but he is an unknown. What concrete evidence do we have that if given a chance, he has a solid future in this league? Who on our staff knows him? How do you a scout a player who has never seen any playing time not in the preseason? And why would an unknown be worth a third round pick?
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Jsteelz @Jsteelzextreme
find it good to note that lots of scouts have Tanehill rated higher then Gabbert and Ponder last year..cant wait 4 next week guys
Found this gem to be quite interesting. Also means he's not getting out of the first round. |

You could ask the same questions about RG3 or any other QB in the draft for that matter. I said a 3rd round picks mostly because the rumors are he will get either a 1st or 2nd round tender. Not sure if he's worth it, but I think that's what it will take. |

Your opinion. Until I see something to change my mind I stand by my statement of him and trading two picks to get him a joke. |

Who do u want them to get as a QB? |

Who I want: RGIII, Luck, and I could be content with "Clark Kent" Tannehill, but whomever we get I want them to be good. |

Wow. They drafted someone to take his place when he leaves? Heavens, that must mean he's terrible. |

Like I said before I would love to have either Luck or RG3, but not worth it too me to give up at least 5 high draft picks for them. Tannehill oh is real proven compared to Hoyer, a former WR turned QB. If we took him he is not a day one starter, still need a QB to start. RG3 and Luck are not guaranteed too be good either ever heard of Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, Jamarus Russell, Heath Schuler, Tim Couch, David Carr. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
A few thoughts:
In another thread we're longing for the likes of Trent Green and Brad Johnson again...but forget they were 8th and 9th round picks who did nothing their first years in the NFL We'll gladly spend a 2nd on Foles or Brock, but somehow trading that pick for Hoyer is tge equivalent of shooting Bambi's mother Remember Mike Shanahan himself spent several days at Pats training camp during Hoyer's rookie season |

Good players can be found lots of different places. The flippant dismissals of players because "Oh, he's been a back-up" or whatever don't get anybody anywhere. Luckily the team is being run by people who will judge players on their indivdual merits and not silliness like that. |

I never said I would trade 5 high picks for anyone.

Ok what picks would u give up for RG3 or Luck? |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
RGIII Swap firsts, 2013 1st, 2012 2nd or 3rd. Offer the third first to see if they take the bait.
Luck Swap firsts, 2013 1st, 2014 2nd is what I said eariler I'll change that this years 2nd. I've come down from my initial 2012 1st, 2013 1st, 2012 3rd, 2013 4th. I'd probably still do it but I'd be hesitant. Since we would be swapping 1sts we would only be giving up 2 picks. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I'm starting to feel like the Skins only option will be taking a pick at #6 and maybe trading back into the 1st round with their second round pick and another pick(s) to get a QB, likely Tannehill.
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
All we would need to give up for the 2nd pick should only be roughly 2012 1st, 2013 1st and 3rd MAYBE, and may not even be that much it's only 4 spots
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Ok what picks would u give up for RG3 or Luck?
Two first and a third. Same as the Eli Manning trade. |

That doesn't seem like a lot but, imagine if the Skins didn't have a first round and third round pick this year? We've seen that and it ain't fun. Not only that, it forces the team to overspend for FAs. |

It's going to cost more then that sorry, we would only be really giving up 2 picks. There is going to competition for that #2 pick, from the browns, seahawks, dolphins, and could be some sleeper teams wanting to trade up like chiefs or jags. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Here's what puzzles me: Some people here don't want to trade next years 1st to get RGIII but would be fine with BPA and trade back into the 1st round to get Tannehill. What do you think we'd be giving up to get back into the first rd? Heinz ketchup?
|

Wgen it's all said and done I feel that is what it will end up being. Whether we move to #2 or #3. |

Nope we should just take him at #6. Lol |

Skill set is the only evidence any rookie or young unproven QB can have to suggest whether or not they'll succeed. We know that Hoyer has shown the skillset to get drafted and make an NFL roster. He's also shown the skillset to be the back-up QB for a well run franchise that values every spot on the roster and expects the next man up to produce. The fact that Bellichick trust him as the back-up for his playoff team alone speaks volumes. But in the end Hoyer is no different then Flynn or Josh Johnson or Jimmy Clausen or Tyrod Taylor or Matt Lienart or any young, journeyman or second chance QB. Only opportunity will answer the question of whether they can handle being thee guy. I understand the concern for the fans of this franchise if the Shanahan's choose to go the journeymen/second chance QB route. Going after a guy like Hoyer would be an unconventional approach to addressing this team's QB need and the Shanahan has used up the cache of QB failure leeway. If they try and use the smartest man in the room approach to address the QB position they cannot afford to get it wrong. And the perception right or wrong is that journeyman/second chance QBs are less likely to succeed then drafted QBs. |

It won't be as steep as trading up to 1 or 2 |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Hoyer wasn't drafted 30gut.
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
why are we even talking about Brian Hoyer as our FRANCHISE ? Cmon people might as well keep Rex

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
It won't be as steep but moving from 39 to 20-25 will still cost us the 2013 1st round pick.

Who cares that he wasn't drafted? Still unproven like any other QB whos going to start this year unless it's manning, Orton or some other mystery QB who has not been linked the skins yet. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
^^ I was simply correcting 30 because he thought he was.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Give me Manning in FA, if not then PLEASE RGIII
