Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
I want Mike Mayock as head scout and player acquisition guru.
Feck the GM position.... |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Allen has been team President since 2014. Last time I checked that puts him above a GM in any typical organizational structure. I'm confused as to why this is news to anyone.
They should have set it up like the Falcons where the GM (Dimitroff) and the President (McKay) each report to Arthur Blank. One is the football lead and the other is the business lead |
I'm finding it pretty amazing that even with McC not being as big of an influence as we thought, we've managed back to back winning seasons.
Jay Gruden gets nowhere near enough credit |

Let's take a minute to clear our minds from this craziness... |

Earlier todayit was reported a meeting between Scot's agent and the Redskins was scheduled. Do we know if the meeting happened? |

Doubt it. His agent was at Mixon's pro day today |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Keim had a report earlier that said they will be meeting soon.

I agree with this. And when I heard that he was in the player interviews at the combine, that's what kept me level headed about McCloughan being phased out. I do think Jay knows how to assess football character and I think he has a strong vision for what he wants his team to look like. I would go so far as to say I would trust him to have final say over our draft board on a go forward basis. I hope Allen and Doug Williams listen to him on draft day. The only remaining reservation I have about Jay is whether he keeps himself open minded enough about coaching staff hires. Does he rely too much on those he knows, thus limiting himself to a narrow field of candidates. We'll see. Overall in Jay I trust. |

My concern is if he is experienced enough to expand his roll and still manage the team properly. Very few coaches are successful at balancing the budget, buying the groceries, and cooking the meal. Sorry - channeling my inner Bill Parcells. |

More A Redskins-Scot McCloughan separation seems to be a question of when, not if - The Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2017/03/08/redskins-gm-scot-mccloughan-has-no-role-in-current-free-agency-decision-making/?utm_term=.bf4a5c90f30d I just came by to say screw you Bruce Allen! |

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
This is crazy. Allen has to go.
"Allen also disapproved of McCloughan’s hands-on approach with players. At one point late in the year, a frustrated defensive back left practice with the session in progress and retreated to the locker room. McCloughan went to retrieve him, telling the player to come to his office so they could talk. Allen, according to two people, later reprimanded McClouhghan, cursing at him and telling him never to go in the locker room again." Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Should we do a poll: McCloughan v. Allen -- you decide? Probably irrelevant, as the news reports today make it seem a foregone conclusion.
I have to admit, I was not convinced that this wasn't more negative hype which seems to come so easily for this team, but this all looks pretty bad. I hate that Garcon appears to be signing elsewhere (although for $16M, I cannot say that would have made sense for us, even if the next few years are heavily discounted). But I love the guy as a player and 1000 yard receivers are not a dime a dozen. Losing two in one offseason is pretty rough; I wonder if this means we try to keep Mighty Mouse. |

The circle jerk lives on. At this point our most competent football man is Jay Gruden, who while solid in his own right, is not McCloughan and has questionable spots on his resume, aka sticking with Jim Haslett, hiring Joe Barry, and then hiring another defensive coordinator with a highly questionable resume in Greg Manusky. Add in the fact there's still this shitshow with KC and if worst comes to worst, next offseason Jay might be fired, most likely due to poor additions on defense, along with having gotten rid of our franchise qb (and not finding an adequate replacement), and our SB winning talent evaluator. All we would have left at that point would be a handful of decent players and Snyder/Allen at the top. TL;DR: I will leave a flaming bag of poo on Snyder's doorstep because words can't express my disappointment at ruining the best thing we've had going for us in 25 years. |
