He's a LG, Gettis is a RG. Different footwork, responsibilities, etc. He will get plenty of reps out there with Hurt running with the starters. |

really. I see a major difference between a Guard and a Center or a Guard and a tackle, hell I see the major difference between a LT and a RT, but is there really a difference between a LG and a RG? I say the only difference is the side your on. Please tell me how much differently they are cause I don't buy it. I'm giving that a Seth Meyers Really?!? |

Im going to say that there are two reasons why someone would be better suited playing one or the other......... first - i think it depends on who you are playing next to, like if the LT is the dominant force on the line you may want to put a certain individual at LG if he is a weak link - so that way you dont have a right side that is totally vulnerable. second - unless everyone is pulling right or left on a certain play it might be difficult for a right gaurd who is used to going forward and right to go forward and left - the footwork is all different and the direction - like a right handed person throwing left handed ,,,that being said I think most gaurds can change sides if need be - |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Would anyone liked to have seen the Skins make the move the Chargers made to solidify depth for their OL?

Haslett coached the Tuskers a year or two I believe. One would think either of these guys would be a better option than Black. Just throwing this out there for discussion that's all. I think it speaks volumes for the talent pool for quality OTs. Wondering if team explores all avenues. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Im all for signing and exploring depth, etc. However I would much rather go with young draftpicks than old veterans that spent the majority of their career in the UFL - Oh and who is the "Black" you are referring to?

Jordan Black. I'm with you on the draft picks whichever round they were drafted. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Flew under my radar - I would have to agree with you on him not being a good option - if for no other reason than I never heard of him. lol - I want to call him camp fodder but if we keep dropping like flies on the line who the hell knows?

Yeah , at least Shanny can mold them young and teach them our scheme - I think Gettis is going to be a solid player - thought that when we drafted him - Iowa is like an o-line breeding ground. |
Re: We've got big trouble on the OL.
Montgomery is a backup at best and we started this guy all last year.
Man im glad our QB had the wheels to dodge danger and believe me thats what hell be doing alot this year.. NEXT YEAR well address this bigtime. I really hope they can get theyre act together and protect. |

I remember seeing him ranked as the #16 best center in the NFL out of 32. RT is the biggest problem on this team by far. |

#16 out of 32 says "exactly average" to me, not necessarily "leagues better centers", but I get your point.. As far as Davis and Toudouze -- would they have fit into the zone blocking system? I'm guessing Shanny / Allen know about all the O-linemen out there and passed on these, and I'd trust them. |

I've heard that before too. But I've also heard that Montgomery is the Selvish Capers of centers in the NFL. Will Montgomery was a seventh round draft choice. He was never heralded as a good or very good center. He plays the position and that's all you can ask of him. But he's not Jeff Saturday or Mangold. |
