Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I agree but their is a difference between cruz and welker's game and what colston and jackson would bring to the table. I just have seen plenty of times where going after the top free agent or one haunts the team for years. I like the thought of drafting young receivers with a young quarterback and having them growing in the same system and learning the ins and outs of one playbook.
I think Hank is supposed to fill this role...and if he plays the way he played this season (when he got hurt) then we are set. But Hank is rehabilitating and we may need those draft picks in other areas. And while we have the right to be concern about FA spending, I have yet to see BA give out a crazy a$$ contract the way Vinny did. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I'd rather have Jackson over Colston.

Garçon must be eagerly looking forward to FA. Does that make Garçon a waiter?
Jets = mediocrity for another three years.
More than 3. Seriously, what were they thinking? They wanted Manning...weren't in position to get him, so they give a ginormous extension to possibly the worst starting QB in the league? Man, I love when the Jets do this to themselves. Maybe they'll give LaRon $50 million for 2 games on the field. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Unless things have changed since Saturday, Terrell Thomas is ready to hit the open market.
Tore his ACL twice though and still is not able to sprint. NY Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas hopes for another shot after tearing ACL a second time - NY Daily News
But convincing teams of that won’t be easy. He only began cutting while backpedalling two weeks ago. He can run, but “not a full sprint, just a nice-speed jog.” He can jump, squat, lunge without pain and his knee feels strong. But he also said he’ll likely sit out spring drills, just to make sure his ACL completely heals before training camp starts. “The biggest thing throughout this whole process is being proactive,” he says. “It’s not that I can’t do it, but there’s no need to rush me out there. I’m definitely not rushing to get back out there to prove that I’m back.” Without the proof, though, teams may not be willing to take a chance. Seven months ago, Thomas who led the Giants with five interceptions in 2010 might have been in line for a deal similar to the five-year, $43 million contract extension the Giants gave Corey Webster in 2008. Now? Who knows? Certainly it’ll be a shorter deal. Less lucrative, too. Thomas is still dreaming of something bigger, though, which may be why negotiations with the Giants have stalled. He points out that in 2010 the Jacksonville Jaguars gave defensive end Aaron Kampman a four-year, $26 million contract with $11 million guaranteed, while he was still rehabbing a torn ACL. Although he assured he was "closing in on" a new deal with the Giants nine days ago, he now appears set to hit the open market. Mar 10 - 4:51 PM
Giants offseason losses: *Brandon Jacobs *Kareem McKenzie *Aaron Ross *Mario Manningham Giants offseason additions: *None Other moves: *Re-signed Jake Ballard after tearing ACL *Resigned Bruce Johnson (CB) after tearing Achilles *1 year deal to Hixon, coming off injuries Question marks: *Terrell Thomas? *Ahmad Bradshaw's health? *Nicks' health, choosing not to have surgeries. |
