re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
This is my favorite gaming video (more of a soundtrack actually).

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I returned Dead Island after a week. Huge disappointment considering how much a fan I am of all things zombie. I got it expecting a decent attempt at a story, but the game put a big skip this cut scene prompt smack dab in the corner of the screen of every cut scene which couldn't be removed. To me that translated to "we don't give a crap about the story." Combine that with my other deal breaker of mute main characters that engage in one way dialogs. Granted the game was beautiful and did a nice job of producing scares as well as the type of environment you look for in a zombie game but beyond that it was shallow.
Just bought Deus Ex Human Revolution. Game looks very promising so far. Also looking forward to Uncharted 3 in November, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in October, and the Metal Gear HD collection in Mid-November. Assasins Creed Revelation should also be solid. Also haven't gotten around to Batman Arkham Asylum nor the upcoming Arkham City but everything I've read declares it's a hell of a game. Still always good to have rainy day games saved away seeing as how you only really get 4 or 5 good non-sport games a year.
If you have not played the Uncharted series yet you must do so, probaly one of the best video games I have ever played, especially number 2. |

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I just downloaded it and played the beta, I think playing the demo was the final nail in the coffin for me and COD. It's just so much more realistic. As a COD crossover, I like how easy and familiar the controls felt, almost every button does the same thing as COD. Is there any knife button though? Doesn't matter but since I'm a knifer in COD it'd be a nice plus.
But overall I liked the graphics, I'm definitely not as big on graphics as others are, and the gameplay felt smooth. I liked the realism in the game, it felt like you were actually controlling a soldier, with the animation and time it took to hop over fences, and how you actually felt weighted while running. Not sure if they have a similar system to perks in COD, but I enjoyed how guys weren't running around as if they were hopped up on a mixture of E, steroids, and 5 hour energy shots like in COD if you have marathon and lightweight equipped. To make a long story short I loved the map, I loved the gameplay, the realism, I didn't see anything like spawn camping and I was fortunate enough that the team I was on acted like a team instead of everybody all trying to be a hero at once like in COD. Also no hackers (as of now) which is a major plus, it's unbearable playing multiplayer on COD nowadays simply because the odds are good you'll end up in a hacking lobby. I think I'm pretty much sold on BF3, and all that is without destroying any buildings or driving any vehicles or anything. |

I thought the old man's idea was the best part. "You collect white marshmellows while avoiding the black ones." |

When I watched that idea during the video for some reason it felt very similar to Heroin Hero in that Guitar Queer-O episode of South Park. "Chase the dragon, come on, keep chasing the dragon" :laughing2 I love that episode. I know theme wise it's not very similar, but with all the bright scenery and shit that's what I thought about. |

Glad you like it, the final version will only be better graphics wise and they'll have some of the bugs cleaned up too. |

Actually I'll find out when I'm on later. But I think I tried clicking the right joystick when i was in a 1 on 1 scenario yesterday and it didn't work. |

I have no idea with the PS3

Yeah I'll figure it out. If it's on xbox, it's gotta be on ps3. |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Anyone feel a little jipped by the Battlefield 3 hype machine?
[YT]TfrrAp1blaM[/YT][YT]KaRyFaxSJzk[/YT] I mean it's one thing to know that it's a trailer, but the graphics in the beta aren't even in the same ballpark. Granted I wasn't going to buy the game anyone but still it doesn't even look as good as COD4. |
