This is the reality of the situation.... and this is why I feel Manusky will be back.
I agree. I don't think Gruden wants him back, I don't think Allen wants him back, and I think Snyder has no idea and just wants to get better. But they'll have to take him back, because there will be no better option. I would hire Gregg or Todd in a NY minute, but they'll choose someplace else, almost certainly. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
At this point you have to see the logic in a Trust the Process type nosedive to hell in order to come out the other side.
Trade Kerrigan, trade Trent, trade anybody over the age of 27 who has some value. Stockpile picks. Start McCoy in 2019, take all the Ls, and come out guns blazing in the 2020 draft with a new coach and a new front office. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Well, we'll atleast be getting a new Special Teams Coordinator. Evidently we fired Ben Kotwica on the DL because Atlanta's already announced they hired him LOL.
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Makes you wonder what other moves we've made on the DL.
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Is it bad that I really don't care at this point? It means nothing if Bruce Allen is still here in any capacity. Just moving parts around in a busted ass engine going nowhere. In fact, we have retained a lame duck coach who'll be coaching in a lame duck season next year. Not much to look forward to.

We're fucked at the QB position right from the start. I'd do exactly what Schneed proposes here. |

But what good would it do? Snyder isn't going away, so i doubt he even cares that nobody wants to work with him. If he did care, he would have made changes by now. |

He does care. He's made big changes before. He used to fire coaches left and right. He was too trigger happy. Had he been more patient with the likes of Turner and Marty, we could have built something. Finally, he hired Bruce, who we thought was a "real GM" and were all ecstatic over... but now Snyder's gotten too patient. He's gone from one extreme to the other. At this point, our own coaches want out. The reports are that the skins did not fire Kotwica. I'm wondering if he made it known he wanted out and so Gruden let him. Reports are that Tomsula and Callahan are unhappy as well. I don't think we've hit rock bottom yet. At some point, Snyder will clean house, just like he did post-Zorn/Cerrato. We were all hoping it would be this year, but its looking like we may have to wait for 2020. |

Also, I blame Ike Hilliard for Doctson's lack of development. Doctson has the athletic ability to be successful, but for whatever reason (mindset, w/e) its not coming together. I put that on the coach.

He’s probably referring to the Chris Russell tweet: The #Redskins just lost the coordinator of their best unit all year. Jim Tomsula & Bill Callahan are exhausted from the circus as well. Regarding the kotwica, it’s been widely reported that the skins did not fire him but gave him permission to interview with Atlanta |

My feeling exactly. The handling of the franchise especially at the QB position has sunk this team yet again. I can’t believe people bought into it again. Because we are such morons at handling the MOST important position on the field we should mitigate it by leveraging the offense scheme towards the running game while continuing to build the defense. This absolutely does not mean don’t invest in the passing offense, but tear it down by cutting dead weight and unfulfilled potential. bringing in young talent at both QB, TE, and WR....bring in new coaches, a new voice, etc. But Bruce remains...so |

This is where I'm at, as long as Allen is here we'll always be losers. Nothing else matters. Just keep all the coaches in perpetuity until Snyder finally fucking gets it and fires him. Which basically means Gruden can coach here until he's 90. Snyder is a fucking moron. |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Well, this is embarrassing. Meanwhile, I assume Bruce and Dan are somewhere sipping cognac and smoking Cubans talking about "what's the big deal? We went 7-9, that's pretty amazing for a team as injured as ours was."
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
The team's approach was to be more conservative with the passing game and to take care of the ball; that approach worked through 9 games, until Alex Smith went down. The running game improved, because the team had few turnovers, controlled the time of possession, and the defense was doing a good job.
Alex Smith was there when we got our asses whooped by Atlanta. He was there when we couldn’t do shit against Tampa - but they pulled a Redskin and handed us the game on a silver platter. He was there and doing absolutely nothing against Houston - it was Colt who came in and sparked us when he went down. Basically for about a month before he got hurt we were on life support. The Alex Smith led Redskins were trending down hard well before he got injured. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
By the way, reality sucks right now for Redskins fans. It's bleaker than I can ever remember it. The Alex Smith injury is a dark cloud that makes things very difficult on us. The only thing that can save the day is hitting on a rookie.
I would feel good about hitting on a QB and some other new blood in the draft if we had a GM or anyone capable of spotting talent. After the last 25 plus years it is difficult to wrap my head around the fact that we are just now entering the dark ages. [emoji22] |

I agree with you 100%. For being "6-3", we were probably the worst 6-3 team you've ever saw. Smith was doing jack shit and like other people pointed out, we had already gotten major ass whoopings with Smith at the helm. I still don't think we would have made the playoffs the way we were playing, but it's possible we would have done it at 8-8 if we had some luck / help. Even when Smith was healthy, i did not see us winning more than 9 games due to the coaching, as well as the injuries. Half of the games he started, he passed for under 200 yards and was held to 1 TD. Maybe he would have gotten better as the season went on, but it actually looks like stat wise he started regressing after the NO game. He had over 300 yards against Atlanta but that was due to garbage time. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
^One thing, is Alex may not win the game with his arm, but he wasn't going to lose it either. Our margin of error were slim to begin with...Win Ugly...so predictably we struggled when Alex went down. Without AP and the improved running game though, 6-3 would not have happened. Alex HAS TO LEAN on a running game if he is going to play conservative.
Like I said when the trade happened, we better get a running game for Alex Smith or its gonna be bad. Alex was coming off his best season as a QB but Kareem Hunt had lead the league in rushing the same year. YES I KNOW every QB benefits from a running game, BUT Alex style of play, with his lack of arm talent dictates he MUST have a running game to be successful. That's why Ill continue to say move the offense to a dominant Running Game and Good defense. This is exactly what Dallas and Baltimore has done...Chicago to an extent. Our run game is above average...lets improve it to great this offseason, we have the good pieces to work with. |
