Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Great move to extend JG.
It does suck that we will most likely lose both our WR. |
Congrats to them.
And I actually think this is a good thing for us, I'd imagine you'd want to be settled long term before your child is born. Yeah I know he already has enough money for several life times, but knowing you're gonna be living in the same town for the next 5 or so years has to be a good feeling just before becoming a dad.
That plus both his parents and in his in-laws being restively close by probably do play factors |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Now is the time for both sides to give a little and get this long-term contract done. Now that Jay is extended and if Kirk signs long-term before FA, we can get this thing rolling.
Warning to both sides: Don't make me send ShakySnake out to Redskins Park to knock your heads together! |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Skins are giving a little but still far apart

Yeah apparently Djax will sign this week. O well. Garcon may come back but if not we can still grab a WR in FA.

Multiple #NFL sources are pegging the free agent contract of #Bucs QB Mike Glennon as expected to land between $14-$15 million per season.
If true, KC should get $30 million per season Mike Glennon Stats - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - ESPN |

I remember Abe Pollin sending Scott Stevens to the New Jersey Devils because he did not think any NHL defenseman was worth $1 Million a year. What a mistake that was! Why do I have the feeling that history is repeating itself here? Looking at past salaries and deals, especially for QBs, is no indicator of present market value. The Mike Glennon deal is telling you that the QB market appears to be taking a big leap. And with the salary cap rising, maybe it should be... |

A not insignificant factor: a pregnant woman's relationship with her OB. You fathers know what I'm talking about. She's really not going to want to move between now and September.
Most important factor for them? No, but not to be overlooked. There are plenty of reasons why it's clear they want to be in DC. |

At the same time, probably nothing that would be the ultimate reason for staying in Washington. Kirk is a multimillionaire, so he can afford to hook her up with the best Ob in the country (or at least state of California) if they were to leave for San Fran. |

It was said the only reason why he lost his starting job with the Bucs was because he was being replaced by a #1 draft pick. Still, $14M for Mike Glennon is outrageous! |

Kirk Cousins seems to be the type of guy who would be cognizant about such details. Maybe it does factor in his decision a bit? I would also think a dollar goes further around areas like NoVA than it would in San Fran.

This is why Kirk demands big money. When potential is paying out big money, proven gets more money. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I actually see the extension for Gruden as a good sign for a Cousins long term deal. The two are tied to the hip and I would think that was part of Grudens deal. "I will sign long term but I want my guy here"

Hopefully that is a factor. My prediction is by mid-season, we'll be looking back on this past off season and laughing at all of the stuff that went down, and we'll have our coach for another couple years, our quarterback signed for the next several years, Doctson playing great, maybe another receiver drafted or signed that's playing great, and McCloughan back in business. |

I actually agree with all of this, and think we are blowing non stories out of the water because it is so slow and we are used to 24/7 news. I am not sure about McCloughan, I am really worried that his demons have resurfaced and that sucks, for him and us. I am starting to think that the reason for the silence on the part of the Redskins is due to Labor laws and employee protection. they legally can't say anything for risk of being sued and he is in rehab right now or was sent home for being drunk. I really hope I am wrong because that is bad for him on a personal level but that is the feeling I have in my gut right now based on what I have seen. |

While he is in rehab, the team cannot comment on that. They can say something like "Scott is away from the team right now dealing with personal matters", or something to that effect. One option for Scot would be to go on FMLA, under provisions of the law he can claim health reasons and have up to 12 weeks to go to rehab and what not. Once his 12 weeks are up, if Scot is no better, then the Skins can get rid of him. They would be allowed to comment on it, but they would have to watch what they say to not get sued. A statement like "Scot's rehab was unsuccessful so we had to terminate him" would be lawsuit worthy. A statement such as "Scot is no longer an employee of this organization due to not being able to adhere to the code and guidelines that we have in place for all employees". No liability there. The coming weeks should say alot more |

If glennon gets 15M we are paying Kirk at least 25

Zero players lost so far and just extended coach after back to back winning seasons and all the media coverage paints them as being the biggest laughing stock in the league. Skins are paying a "hurt feelings" penalty, because the local media wasn't given a heads up on Scot missing the combine. For all we know, he's been real shitty at his job the last 2 years or he's relapsed and the Skins are giving him every opportunity to work things out. I like Scot and want him around for the long term, but there's no definitive proof that he's done such an amazing job that he should be treated as sacred. Maybe he's the reason Kirk wasn't locked up for less money last year and maybe he stood on the table for draft picks that turned out to be way worse than players others in the organization wanted to take instead. Last 2 drafts have been meh and the free agents they've brought in have been busts for the most part. Media justifies harsh treatment using the, "they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt argument", but I'm reserving judgement until there are actual results to be judged. |

And secondly, how do you know that Scot has truly had full and complete reign over player acquisitions? I would just about bet all this got started because Allen is unwilling to completely give Scot full control as what a GM should have. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
The rumor mill is showing Glennon goes to the Bears.
So if that means starter money then the Cousins camp is really gonna tune in to those $$$. |

Interesting. I still think Kirk Cousins has leverage and knows the team needs him and likely not to win very many games without him unless the defense greatly improves. |

Yes, but Cousins also wants a long term deal and not another year of uncertainty. He can go into 2017-2018 season on the tag, but if he has some major injury, he will be out of luck. |

Kirk will be a 49er if not this yr, next year. The writing is so clear on the wall it's not even funny.

well 44Million buys a LOT of luck, but I really don't get it. He's got the guaranteed money equivalent to the top qb's, the team clearly wants him, and he's going to get the best opportunity and price here - once he commits to SF for example, they aren't going to just roll over and give him 30M a year or some crazy number. If this doesn't get done, then as Schneed said, the truth will come out. I mean if the Skins are offering 6yrs 120 or more, and he's not taking it then I don't blame ownership 1 bit. |

Yeah and apparently he doesn't want to be here long term. I'm fine with the number 2 overall pick. How about going after Trevor Simien for a mid rounder? |
