Re: Around the NFL- Week 3
He's their spokesman for better or worse. It's his job to do that. He's getting paid 10 million a year to do exactly that. The same way that DeMaurice Smith is the spokesman for the players, he in the same token cannot make any deals without the approval of the players.
It's like people blaming the President for things that Congress controls. Roger is just a pawn in all of this. In other news: Sad when online gambling sites have more integrity then the NFL.
So he basically comes out and tries to pull wool over the people that pay his salary? He should just say..." Look, they're doing the best job they can, we're doing everything we can to get a deal done with the regular refs"... Like I said...he should just keep his mouth shut. Goodell and the owners are pissing off their customers. I would love to see Green Bay's fans not show up to their next home game. Everyone should stay home. Well....the owners are the fans so that might not work. lol. |
Re: Around the NFL- Week 3
The call was terrible, but what's the excuse going to be when regular referees return and they make the same bad calls fans have been complaining about for years?

He is the commissioner. 110% of his time should have been at the bargaining table with the refs since the disaster that was week two. Instead, he gives half assed BS statements that they are doing a good job, and then has the AUDACITY to THREATEN the players with fines if they don't show respect to these bumbling idiots, and these are the players that he says their safety is the number one concern of the league. Another bull shit statement. Goodell could make this thing happen, Im sure he has plenty of influence over the situation. To think that he doesn't is kinda naive. |

I give him a 2. |

I touched a baby on the head in the grocery store the other day and a replacement ref awarded me custody.

Yeah, I dont think the comparison close. Refs will always miss calls, but their knowledge of the rules of the game is much stronger than what we have seen. Simple things such as time keeping with the clock, spotting the ball, knowing how many challenges or timeouts, etc. have been sorely missed. |

come on, its never been this bad. Every week, there are at least 5 or 6 games in question with calls that had a major impact on either the flow or the outcome of the game. OF course people are always going to complain about calls, but you have to admit that this is just a little out of hand now. |

It's true that the regular refs aren't perfect. And, I had mostly been of the feeling that you need to give these guys time. But time seems to be making matters worse. One guy who was at the Ravens game near the sideline told me that a well known Ravens LB was telling his CB's to just get the hands on the receivers because the refs weren't calling things. Whatever, you can't convince me that every game would be having this many issues like they are now. Maybe one dramatic call every few weeks, at most. Not game changing f ups in multiple games every single week. |

I just heard something along those lines on ESPN radio, it might have been mike and mike, I think it was cris carter or someone that said something like that. |

SarcasticRover needs to tell SarcasticRef that he reviewed the playcall from mars and the ruling on the field was confirmed. |
Re: Around the NFL- Week 3
All the bad calls and crazy endings over the last few weeks look like one typical Redskin game. I dont know why all the hate.

I heard that some of the division is they want the real refs to become full time employees, and train in the offseason? |
Snoop is on first take today, he literally knows nothing about the NFL lmao

To me there is a distinction between bad calls and wrong calls. People weren't wholly concerned about the integrity of the game under the regular refs. But now? There are plenty of people worried about it. Until our Rams game I was part of the "these guys aren't too bad and they'll get better" crowd. These past two weeks have proven to me though just how difficult the job is and just how unqualified these scabs are. It is CLEARLY affecting the game and it is even more CLEARLY affecting the fans' perception of the game. THAT is a major problem that the league needs to recognize and get fixed immediately. |
