I have heard however, from a pretty reliable source, that Dock’s agent’s initial proposal to the Redskins was a $17 million signing bonus. Yes, $17 million. Now clearly (I think) this was just a starting point for further bargaining. But it gives you an idea of Dock and his agent’s (Todd France) ultimate asking price based on their starting point.
And it turned out he signed a deal with Buffalo that got included an $18 million signing bonus. So...same source is telling me Los is asking for a $24 million signing bonus...and he's got the same agent as Dockery. Now, could this source be wrong? Of course, but his track record tells me it's not quite so likely What do you all think. $24 million? Worth it? |

Might as well go after Nnadmi if you're willing to spend that type of money on a guy that can't catch.
Math: Dockery Contract - $18 million Bonus/$49 million contract. $18/$49 = .367. Signing bonus is 36.7% of total contract Rogers asking price = $24 million signing bonus. 24/.367 = $65 million.
|
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Reality paints a really dim picture for the immediate future of this team but, we're not looking at a desperation move to re-sign Rogers. It's more likely he will get his money somewhere else just like Dockery did.

I think I would have said 20 mil guarenteed would do the trick for Los before, so 24 is still high. We got a lot room with all the cap space (I know its no cap NOW) we have created cutting people clearly not worth their contract. Its much easier to make an arguement for keeping Los than others on this team. If he is asking that much and looking at player value, you gotta think the CB from Oakland wouldnt be too far from 24 mil and a better player. Or I bet if you gave 20 mil guarrentte to Ike Taylor in Pittsburg he come play for us. So I think its high, kinda surprised with all the uncertainty Los wouldnt come off that number. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
How can someone that plays with oven mitts on both hands ask for that much money?
|
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Sorry but Los isn't worth that much

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
For that $$ I would have no problem letting #22 walk.

We will put 24 $1 million dollar checks in 24 footballs and throw them at you in a simulated live situation. Each ball you catch cleanly, you keep the million guaranteed in your contract. If you bobble or drop it, you get nothing. How much would he get guaranteed then? |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I dont know Todd France at all but I believe he's really influencing Los (like he did Dock) these are two guys who I know want (wanted) to stay. It's a shame they seem to be letting their agent dictate their course of action when it should be the other way around
|
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Would be sad if he left after wanting to stay. 24 mil bonus is way too much, I was thinking about 15 at most.
Maybe the difference will be that Dock got his $18 mil. from Buffalo, but does anyone really see Los getting $24 mil in this market? Or even 20ish? I haven't taken a look at the list of free agent CBs other than Asomougha & Taylor, but I think the market in general will be too flooded & cautious for a lot of huge signings. |
