Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
The new CBA rules on holdouts is vicious. 50k fine per day, that most likely wont be waived anymore. Dont show up? Year doesnt accrue.
Who would be the nearest candidate to hold out now? Maybe McLaurin if he balls out this year. Hed have 2 years left on his deal but he is getting paid 681k this season, then 794 and 874. I could see him wanting a new deal, if he balls out. Payne and Allen are coming up. Scherff is tagged.
It amazes my the NFLPA let that happen. How does the most popular sport in the US have the weakest player union? It is crazy. |

I'm guessing they gave in as part of concessions for things like easing up on weed testing. Player holdouts are bad for both sides anyway. Nobody comes out looking good. |
Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
Under this new CBA, I dont feel bad if a vet cant hold out now a la Trent. You guys entered into a negotiated agreed upon contract.
But I do feel bad for the overachieving mid to late round draftee playing on the rookie contracts. If McLaurin balls out, he will be forced to play 3 more years on a peanuts contract. I guess the hope is that it gives the team and player motivation to get a LTD agreed to after year 3. If the team doesnt extend/resign McLaurin after year 3 ... Id be pissed if I was him. (Assuming McL balls out). |

I'm really curious where the cracks were. Whether Smith caved, or if he knew he didn't have the backing from the players. It's been very underreported, at least on the Redskins oriented sites I frequent. |

I don't know if that changes your perception ... but it seems like there was an attempt in the CBA to address this concern. Surprised I never read about it in terms of Chase Roullier. That probowl selection to get to the highest tier ... seems kinda crappy. Snap counts would be better imo. Learned something new, thanks Perv. |

The big question is what happens if a player gets seriously ill during the season |
Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
I have a hard time imagining a team quarantine a play maker for 2 weeks in the midst of a playoff push if they are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic.

Massive loss...he’s probably their best lineman. That’s big news for Payne, Allen and Marty I. |
