I personally think the 40 is an overrated stat. I mean for the most part the game is played in 10-20 yard increments; sideline to sideline. I think agility, lateral movement, burst off the ball. Those things are just as important, if not moreso, than running the 40 in a straight line.
Completely agree. I mean how often in a given game do players run 40 yards in a straight line? Not very often in the grand scheme of things. Yet the 40 time is one of the key things looked at. |

Agreed. Back when the Ravens drafted Suggs, he fell in the draft b/c his 40 time was considered slow. His comment at the time was something along the lines of "It ain't 40 yard from the line of scrimmage to the QB". |

Suggs is an interesting case. He asked for a do-over after his combine performance. His 40 time was in the 4.6s for the do-over. USATODAY.com - Suggs out to show he has NFL stuff |

I'm sure Shanny took that into consideration though.
Is there any discussion of him moving inside? |

Why would you move your other bookend pass rushing lb inside? We drafted Kerrigan to rush the passer. Not exactly an ILB's responsibility in a 3-4. |
Is there any discussion of him moving inside?
3-4 ILBs are like 4-3 MLBs. 3-4 OLBs are essentially standing pass rushers who have to a little linebacking. Using Kerrigan as a 3-4 ILB would be equivalent to trying Rak at 4-3 OLB, which we did in 2008. |

Not on my watch. Then again Chris Johnson runs well against anyone. Good thing theres such a back to compare Helu to.
Is there any discussion of him moving inside?
Have you ever played in a 3-4 defense man? SCP is dead on. Better way to think of a 3-4 is more like that of a 5-2. |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread

Everyone gets hurt in camp. These same injuries take place during the regular season. Only difference is a bunch of fans aren't around to witness it. |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
I don't think it matters who the starter is, we all know MS is gonna rotate these guys in and out, but I love that this guy is going hard as a 4th round pick.

Re: Training camp 2011 thread
A good recap from today's practice by Rich Campbell....
http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/redskins-watch/2011/aug/3/practice-observations-and-analysis-83/ I found this interesting... "Let’s make it a receivers hat trick: Malcolm Kelly worked as the third receiver during situational drills late in practice. Anthony Armstrong and Jabar Gaffney were the top two. Kelly has run well so far, and he appears polished and confident compared to the rookie receivers. That said, this effectively is his first year in the offense because he missed all of last year. He attended meetings all last season, but this is his first extended opportunity to practice running plays. The fact he doesn’t play special teams is a disadvantage in his attempt to make the roster, so standing out in the passing game during the preseason is an absolute must." |
