re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
So PSN is still down? Unbelievable.
From what i understand, there is nothing they can do to defend against the hackers. This is why Japan would not relaunch the PSN even when they were told that the network was OK, Japan knew better. Anyways, talking to my father in law about it, who is a network engineer, he explained it as basically the hackers are one step ahead of Sony, that they know everything they are gonna do before they do it, and he suspects that there may be a mole within Sony's infrastructure who is reporting to the hacking group, mainly assumed to be a large group known as "Anonymous". Sony has asked the U.S. Government for help regarding this issue, and I certainly hope that there is someone within the Govt's cyber crime division or whatever, that can catch whoever the hackers are. But I'm not so sure. Basically say goodbye to PSN after this, i dont see it ever being the same as we know it... |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
PSN is back up. With free stuff to. Kind of wish I had a bigger hard drive.
PSN Appreciation Program perks detailed, News from GamePro Still my main fear is that Sony uses this as an excuse to charge for online play. Being an XBox owner I can tell you that the price increases continue to get old, especially when they're justified with features that I have no interest in (Facebook for example). Microsoft Explains Why Its Xbox Live Price Hike Is Good, And Good For You - The Consumerist
So during that time, we've definitely got to fund it, and we want to add more and more and more. ESPN is a great example. No extra charge for Xbox Live Gold members. But we want to continue to bring that content in. We also want to continue to innovate on all dimensions, whether it's social, entertainment, or gaming. So there you go.
Seriously. Why do I need ESPN on my X-Box in the first place? I have cable and internet access which are much easier to use and navigate. It would be great if they added it for free but it's more along the lines of charging me stuff I don't need. Basically the price increase also gets you exclusive DLC games (which you have to pay for), Zune, Twitter, Facebook, and ESPN among others. |

I also am going to be using prepaid game cards of some nature for PSN from here on out, because I was lucky that I had no information stolen, or any charges to my account, etc.... |

Yup so far so good. I found turning off all the helps makes it more challenging and fun. And yes it's the guy from Mad Men!! I guess he finally hit the big time. :) |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Looks OK but not much different then the current Wii, nothing ground breaking and I think the new video remote is kind of lame.

I already feel victim to the hype that was the Wii, it's too little too late with the harcore titles for me so Nintendo will not be getting my money for the retardly named Wii U. |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I can't really tell. Is it still PS2 level graphics on steroids?

I am so not excited about the Wii U but really the Wii/Wii U don't really target hardcore gamers. So maybe they got it right that I am not excited.

I'm kinda looking forward to this...

Well the scary thing is if casual is still their main target, they might have some issues because there have been a lot of the guys for IGN, G4, etc have been saying the controller was really awkward and confusing for most of what they've gotten hands on time with. I know it's got a year or so before it comes out, but thats not a good sign if tech/hardcore gamers are having issues with something u want moms and kids playing. |
