Re: 2025 NFL DRAFT ROUND 1

My only issue is this guy is a LT and we already traded for Tunsil. Mike Green was there and would have possibly been a really good option. But can't get mad at taking a tackle. I assume he will move over to RT.

Hype for the potential.
Sure he'll be good with that as I don't see Tunsil giving up his spot lol. Love that both guys are stellar pass protectors and we finally have a front office smart enough and have the stones to take an offensive lineman in rd 1. It seems like forever since this happened.

That wouldn't be wise when by all accounts the 25 draft is the weakest in years.

There are plenty of solid players on the other side of the ball left. Plenty of edge rushers that could still be around.

He'll likely be a swing tackle for now with Coleman at right tackle, unless Cosmi remains out then he might move into guard for now. Still gotta figure our depth on the Oline is very secure.

Reading that he could move to LG.

Love the depth for sure. Coleman played well but will this guy be better and push Coleman inside? Time will tell!

The tackles look a lot better than they did 6 weeks ago.

Protect the franchise.

All defense from here out hopefully with one running back.

Brandon Scherff I think was the last 1st rd OL we picked.

Re: 2025 NFL DRAFT ROUND 1

Drafting a tackle never crossed my mind but apparently Conerly is a good player so I can't complain. Also, Keim shared this which makes the pick looks better:

Key stat: Over Washington's final seven games, some negative trends emerged. Daniels' sack percentage was 10.4 or higher in three of the last four regular season games; the pressure percentage was 37.5 or greater. For the season, the sack percentage was 6.9 and the pressure percentage was 32.5, so there was a considerable drop. Also, over the final seven games, Washington's running backs averaged 1.76 yards before contact, which ranked 29th during that span. The Commanders needed to improve its line and now have added Conerly in addition to Tunsil this offseason.

I love the pick, DL is a deep class as is RB, and you can never go wrong with a great OL

LT Tunsil
LG Coleman
C Tyler B.
RG Cosmi (When healthy)
RT Connelly Jr.

Thats a really good group on paper

Can't go wrong with a hogmali.

But South Carolina's safety would have been a fun pick.

Cant see a first round pick being drafted to be a swing tackle, Im seeing a lot of Coleman moving to LG

Re: 2025 NFL DRAFT ROUND 1

Coleman makes a lot of sense at guard. Connerly shouldn’t have a problem moving to RT.

Yeah, he is starting at tackle. Coleman was mostly thought of as a guard coming out last year as that's where he finished at TCU. He should be a pretty good LG after getting experience at a much harder position last season.

When Cosmi comes back this has the possibility of being a damn good OL.

Re: 2025 NFL DRAFT ROUND 1

my only concern it him getting used to switching sides, muscle memory, footwork and all that totally shifts. IMO it may take time with him being raw and young but we have to trust the coaches and the off-season program and pre-season to have him somewhat ready for RT at the NFL level/.

I agree with this projected lineup

Nick A was ok, I’d like an upgrade with Coleman

Trench game upgrade always a plus in my book

If I am not mistaken he played RT in a reserve role as a freshman before becoming a starting LT in his SO season, then in jumbo or offset formations he lined up as RT ads well

I've seen the same. I think it will come down to a) how long before Cosmi is back in the line-up and b) which of Coleman and Conerly will work out best at RT, with the other going in as LG. Also with Wylie still here, the RG/RT combo has flexibility until Cosmi is 100%.

I'd still prefer an Edge. Lets hope they have someone lined up for the next pick...

sdskinsfan2001 04-25-2025 01:05 PM

Re: 2025 NFL DRAFT ROUND 1

Allegretti and Wylie would be solid swing back-ups. I'd say they are below average starters but above average depth. I like where our O-Line is at. Wouldn't be surprised to see them still possibly add another C and/or G tomorrow though.

LOOOOOTS of edge players left. I think if one of them falls to us, we jump, but at this point, we're looking good at the OL, trade back, add more depth and hope some of those later picks can be starters at some point. REALLY REALLY want the OSU back to drop to us.

This should warm your hearts. Our draft pick against the #3 pick in the draft. Absolutely bested him the entire game.

Peters said Conerly is capable of playing guard. (As others said Coleman is too) It is a good situation to be in whoever moves wherever.

I think any elite college tackle is capable of playing guard. That's just boiler-plate language. He was drafted to play tackle. The only way he doesn't is if somehow Coleman beats him out. But I don't see that happenings. We drafted our starting RT. Protect the franchise.

Steelers pick’s mom died, right after he was drafted. That’s sad. At least she lived long enough to know his future.

Not to rain on this silver lining but she was in an induced coma prior to the draft, but hopefully she knows anyway from where she is now.
