Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Why is it that teams almost never release their older draft boards even years or decades later? I think only one from the Cowboys ever became public (years later).
I assume it would reveal team's scouting methods (i.e., values, calculations, etc.). |
If Jeanty dropped to 11 would you all trade our 1st, 2d and next years 1st to move up to 11 (That is what the value charts say it would cost)?
No. |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Unless we trade down or up, #29 is the lowest drafting position we have had since 1992. Will be a strange feeling, that hopefully we get used to. 1992, coming off our SuperBowl win; we had 2 #1’s. Our own at #28 and another Top 10 pick; which we traded up for Desmond Howard.
The last time we drafted this low, there were only 28 teams. |

But years later the teams employees have likely moved to other teams even multiple teams. Not sure it would be protecting trade secrets (additional they likely change with every new coaching / head scout hire). |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
My best guess who we take at 29
1. Nic Scourton DE 2. Emeka Egbuka WR 3. Shavon Revel CB 4. Donovan Ezeiruku DE 5. Nick Emmanwori Safety 6. Trey Amos CB |

Yeah. Whatever we had going into offseason; not any predraft trades. |

He's also only 20 years old. He brings a great combination of run defense and pass rush. I'm also interested in Jack Sawyer. Think we may even be able to trade down to get him. A monster against the run and solid pass rusher. His character, leadership and intangibles are top notch. |

Rather load up on defense and oline in this draft especially with the earlier picks. Trading down may be the best idea of all unless there is a guy they have to have. More likely to get impactful players. Giants and Browns already trying to trade down. |

Also it would be a nod from the front office that they are satisfied enough with the roster that we have the luxury of making that pick at this place in time. I secretly would love a RB pick at 29 |

I've read that they would love to have a complete three-down RB who is explosive. Both Hampton and Henderson run and catch the ball very well, are known for their excellent pass protection and they don't put the ball on the ground. Hampton is the bigger back and Henderson is the home run hitter of the two. I also read that they would like to round out the WR group with a so-called "vertical slot" player. So they've spent more time with WR's who are quick and have blazing speed, such as Jayden Noel (4.39), and Tai Felton (4.37). |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
It's almost here. Going to be a weird draft to watch, with only 1 pick in each of the 1st 2 days (outside of a trade-back).

Sure hope not. Rodriguez and McNichols are underrated. We have a star running qb who is also a star passing qb. Much rather use picks other than a rb which we are solid at. We need more defense and oline.

I totally disagree with this post. They lack explosive plays and it's clear they want to upgrade from B Rob who simply does not supply that. One long TD run by Swift totally changed the Chicago game, they need a player who can turn around a game with one play. The rest are fine but this offense needs a real weapon that defenses need to account for. |

I agree Brob was a let down last half of the year, left yards on the field. He just doesn’t have the vision and he’s never had the speed. With the threat of JD5 legs in the backfield…defenses have to key or at least dedicate a guy to that run responsibly on every play. There is a massive opportunity for a talented ball carrier alongside Number 5. There are big plays and yards available, we need an RB who can take advantage. |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I agree with the RB need, but I don't think it's worth the 1st round pick especially when we have needs in other positions. Although if there is a RB rated above everyone available when it's our turn then I suppose we should draft the RB as I believe in BPA.

Our RB is just ok. We don’t have that bellcow back. Sorry, BRob isn’t it. RB is a position we can improve and this draft does have a little rb depth. I can see us drafting a rb in Rounds 2-4. |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Draft a playmaker. I don't care what position. We need someone that can make explosive plays.
I think we draft the BC Edge defender if he is available. And I'm 99% likely to be dead wrong. |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
I fully expect today to be interesting, though maybe not so much for us.
My hope is that we trade down from 29 and into the Top 5-10 of the 2nd round and also pick up a 3rd or 4th rounder as a 2nd pick, in the trade. I hope we are just spectators today and trading down for more assets. I think 29 and other late first round spots, are prime positions for teams to trade back up into first round. Browns and Giants if they don’t trade down and take Hunter and Carter with their picks; may want trade back into first round and take a qb. Other teams in the Top 10 in Rnd 2, may want to do the same thing. Yeah, it maybe over drafting but getting a QB late in the first; gets you the 5th year option. Right now everyone still has a pick in the first round but I expect some wheeling and dealing today. Hopefully, we are involved in that to. Have far does Sanders fall? He’s expected to go at 9 to Saints or 21 to Steelers or 26 to Rams. Maybe he falls into 2nd round. If he’s still available after 26; I can see teams wanting to trade back into first round. It should be a fun and interesting draft tonight. |

Ekeler is already explosive and averaged nearly 5 yards a a carry last year and is a beast on returns. Rodriguez Jr. also averaged nearly 5 yds a carry last year and is tough and physical. McNichols also averaged nearly 5 yds a carry last year. We don't need Saquon Barkley to win a SB and we aren't getting Ashton Jeanty.
These numbers above are fine especially when you have qb who is a star running for nearly 900 yds last year himself. Where are you seeing they want to upgrade from Robinson? |
Re: Commanders 2025 NFL Draft Thread
We need a defensive playmaker desperately in this draft preferably 2. Look at all the studs Philly had last year with Sweat, Jalen Carter, Baun etc. This is far more of a need than a rb.
Our offense ranked 7th in the league last year and averaged nearly at the top for rushing yards/game. https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team Commanders were middle of the pack on defense while the SB Eagles were 1. https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team/_/view/defense |

Even the point about Swift's run highlights why defensive playmakers are more important to taking this team to the next level. I expect the best Sa#ety or CB to be our first pick (hopefully after a trade down) and EDGE at 61. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

My final mock . . . lol . . . i do believe a trade down or two is in the works, so here goes:
40 - TreVeyon Henderson, RB Ohio State 71 - Jayden Higgins, WR Iowa State 73 - Bradyn Swinson, Edge LSU 93 - Cameron Williams, OT Texas 110 - Miles Frazier, OG LSU 205 - Hunter Wohler, S Wisconsin 245 - Nazir Stackhouse, CT Georgia |

I like BRob but he's a ground and pound back, not a breakaway threat. Look at how dangerous the Eagles are with a triple threat O; Great RB, good running QB and good receivers. Imagine we had Barkley... But I say Edge should be #1 pick tonight, if one of the top 5 remains when we pick. We need a game changer in the pass rush more than anything else on D. I can live with a top CB, RB or WR prospect if they don't like the remaining Edge candidates there, but please address Edge with a good early pick. |

He has a place on the team, not a 3 down back. He had a great game vs Detroit in the playoffs. Other 2 games he was ineffective. You add better talent in the backfield, it’s gonna benefit JD5 and open up our offense even more. He doesn’t even need to be a 3 down back. Eckler missed a lot of time last year, thinking ahead to grab a replacement that could replace mcpickles/Eck should be top of mind. I think Peters very well could big game hunt at the draft grabbing WR/RB and even late round TE. TE is really deep this year |

These are bigger NEEDS. The other 2 games you're referencing for Robinson included Tampa and Philly. Both had 2 of the best rush defenses in the league last year. Upgrade the oline watch our current backs go off even more. YPC is extremely relevant to a team's success and ours was very good last year. |
