Re: Eagles Postgame
Eagles are one of those teams you gotta play a nearly perfect game to beat them. They made more plays in the end.
I'm encouraged by the way they bounced back after last week but obviously room for improvement. I'm really still not sold on JDR - I think with the talent we have on D (linebackers notwithstanding) this should be a dominant unit. Too often they were getting gashed in the run game today. Offensive line is underwhelming and Sam still holds the ball too long but I thought he showed improvement today. I think the game plan against our offense is simple - lots of pressure, creative blitzes, etc. Sam is still seeing new looks every week and it's gonna take time for him to learn. Secretly hoping Ron retires after this year, Bieniemy takes the HC job and JDR walks. I think we're better than last year but there is clearly room for improvement. My one gripe with the offense is the lack of mid-level routes. Every catch Dotson has seems to be under 10 yards. We're wasting him. |
Re: Eagles Postgame
Mediocre teams don’t go 4-0. They go 2-2.

It doesn't matter what you want to call them or any team after only four games...it's like power rankings - meaningless. We'll see where everyone is at the end of the season. Eagles were supposed to win and they did. Good on them. 13 more to go. |
Re: Eagles Postgame
I think 7 wins may be on the low side, 10 may be on the high side. 8-9 wins is where I think we'll end up.

Re: Eagles Postgame
Positives:
Sam is the real deal, 5th game, on the road against one of top D’s and managed to scare the shit out the eagles. He keeps getting better, is tough and has heart. McLaurin Brob Oline did a better job Slye Negatives: Forbes, he’s a rookie against a top receiver, he’ll get better. Multiple players made mistakes. OL broke down at critical times, Wiley again. My favorite play of the game was when Leno and Wylie both got beat on the same play.
2024 mock draft: 13: R1 P13 G Cooper Beebe - Kansas State 45: R2 P13 OT Tyler Guyton - Oklahoma 77: R3 P13 OT Patrick Paul - Houston 113: R4 P13 LB Danny Stutsman - Oklahoma 149: R5 P13 G Drake Nugent - Michigan 188: R6 P13 C Doug Nester - WVU 232: R7 P13 OT Walker Parks - Clemson |

Re: Eagles Postgame
I would hire Greg Williams again. He would get more out of these guys. The scheme is weak. On that last drive they were pushed out of FG range. You have to press the wr's and challenge them. They db's were giving up the easy completion to get in FG range. Del Rio does this all the time. He coaches too scared. He needed to blitz which he did but try and re route the wr's.

Greg Williams sucks as bad as JDR, both over and over retreads. Hire a young hungry coach like Zgonina. |
Re: Eagles Postgame
I can't believe we are splitting hairs about the difference between 7 to 10 wins for the season. There is zero difference between a 7-10 record and a 10-7 record except maybe a dozen plays during the season going your way vs the opponent.
Also had zero problems with the Brown taunting Forbes thought it was hilarious. |

Sorry but GW has a proven track record. It'll never happen though.. |
Re: Should Have Went for 2 Post-game Thread
JDR scheme has very little blitzing, it is mostly about contain. Sweat and Young are supposed to maintain the edge and not pursue. With the right personnel maybe it works? I think it severally limits Young and Sweats best attributes. At this point it is what it is I don't feel like being the old man yelling at clouds.

What success has he had lately? He's been out of the NFL for 3 years and much longer than that removed from success. I agree with finding a young hungry DC. |
Re: Should Have Went for 2 Post-game Thread
I think this team is a decent-to-solid coaching staff away from doing really good things.

The defense should absolutely be playing better. I think the offense will be hampered no matter what, until the OL can be upgraded. But I liked most of what I saw from EB and Howell today. |
Re: Should Have Went for 2 Post-game Thread
I thought the O-line played pretty well today.

Re: Should Have Went for 2 Post-game Thread
Definitely room for improvement...all around.

The results will be mixed with him because there is some talent on the defensive side of the ball. The o-line isn't horrible as a whole, but it can SURE use an upgrade. If we had the line from Rivera's first season then you're probably talking about no less than a 3-1 ball club. Bieneimy was better today, but there was points in the game where I thinh he got away from the run or over-utilized pistol and/or empty backfield formations. Howell was pretty good today, but missed some open receivers at imperative junctures of the game. I won't rail him too much as he's still a young pup. |

I saw Young step back into coverage multiple times, what kind of BS is that? Young had a good game regardless (I know the Young haters will disagree). They need to attack, I would replace Barton with Hudson or Cox, it’s time. |

Did you ever seen Mann or Manely drop into coverage? That's just dumb shit, asking a player do something you know he can't do. |

Should never happen unless it is a misread by the defense and this is last line of defense. |

No loss should feel good, but I can’t get too upset over today. We went toe to toe with a SB team and Howell bounced back as well as anyone could have hoped. And hey, Snyder is gone.

I was a bit frustrated on their second td drive with the first and goal that he tried to target Dotson, That should've been a pick. He needs to stop trying to do it all. It was first and goal from 1. He should've thrown it through back of end zone, avoid TO, avoid sack and set up second down. I know he is young but he keeps doing this stuff. |
