Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
Was curious to see what a draft would look like going QB in round 1, so I just selected the highest rated remaining guy left.

This might be my favorite mock-draft that I've done. Patch that O-line right up and bye bye Slye.

3rd and 6th Rd comp picks. Not the highest quantity of picks but 2nd highest pick awarded, so that 3rd could prove very useful.

Basically a 4th and a 7th. Hopefully luck out with a starter and solid depth. |

I always say the same thing, you can only pick who is available in that particular draft. I doubt he is either. But he was in this one, so I picked him. That would be pure gold for us for sure if it somehow worked out that way on 4/28/2023. |
Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
Traded down two spots in 1st. Gained pick 55.
WAS 18. Peter Skoronski OT Northwestern WAS 47. John Michael Schmitz OC Minnesota WAS 55. Deonte Banks CB Maryland WAS 118. Tyjae Spears RB Tulane WAS 150. Shaka Heyward LB Duke WAS 193. Noah Ruggles K Ohio State WAS 215. Mikel Jones LB Syracuse WAS 233. Ikenna Enechukwu EDGE Rice |
Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
Lots of the CB's were gone. This would give us some flexibility on possibly trading Sweat or Young.

Please no. We need oline, lb, cb, and s help. Ill take a guy like Clayton Tune or Jake Haener in the 5th or 6th maybe but not someone in the third round. Certainly not the second. Howell was a steal as a 5th rounder. If he doesn’t pan out go after a guy early next year when the class is stronger. We certainly will be in position to do so if Sam flops. Right now to take another chance on a guy in the third or second would be detrimental. We need to protect Sam up front and cement our D - give Sam a chance. |

I'm for this. I also don't see a reason to invest a late round draft pick on a QB ever. To me it is either a high pick or nothing based on success rate. I'd go nothing this year. |

Yeah I hear you. It is almost like wasting a pick. At the time of that post I don’t believe we signed Brissett so I was still thinking backup I believe. Now do not draft one …unless ya got a guy who you love that falls and falls. |

The reason you draft a QB in the mid or late rounds isn't necessarily to get your starter. It's for depth purposes. QB's go down like any other position. Qb's underperform. If you keep 3 QB's then you need that developmental guy and your back up can be someone like Brissett. Sometimes guys fall like Howell did. That was a pure value pick. Brissett has hung around the league for a while and is the perfect back up QB or lower tier starter. He was a 3rd rounder. Always draft QB's because it is the most valuable position on the field and it has been drastically ignored here for a long time. The last person ( who coached here) who actually got it right was Shanahan. He saw the value in Cousins and could not pass that up. Smart as hell pick. Ron was a little slow but at least the saw the value in Howell. |

Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
I think our draft results will surprise people. TE, WR, RB picks.
I think it’s near lock we go CB first, but after that I could see EB getting a run at who he likes in the offense. One position I keep thinking about is TE, guys in KC had to be good blockers for edge running and screens. |

Draft analysis JR of espn
Jordan Reid @Jordan_Reid · Mar 28 A few noteworthy points after finishing this: • TE, CB, RB, and EDGE are loaded in this years class. • There’s a lot of depth in the middle rounds. • The extra COVID year really shows up for the first time this year. There’s going to be a great pool of UDFAs left over This is good in spots we should be looking. |

Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
If TE is the best player on the board at 16 then they should pull the trigger. We don't have a complete TE. If Mayer is sitting there at 16 there has to be serious consideration to take him.

Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
OL , CB , TE are the 3 biggest needs in RD 1 and 2. I’d love Mayer at TE. He’s a monster

We should consider DE in the first round if a good one falls to us because we will lose Sweat or Young after next year.

I definitely wouldn't count it out, especially if they decide to trade one of them. |
Re: It's Officially Draft Season Baby!
I think there's a very good chance BPA is a OT or CB, so I like the odds of landing someone at those positions of need. But I'm not opposed to another position if that player is a baller.

I just want Sam protected so he can flourish. T and G on the right side are priorities.

Listening to Keim pod, he’s throughly convinced at this point 16 is the Oline and everything else seems to be a distinct second. Things could change, be Keim saying they aren’t done at the line. Sounds like Andrew Norwell is most likely gone, and a decision will be made with Roullier. |

Would they play a rookie LT at LG for a season or two while Leno stays at LT? Genuine question as the intricacies of swapping positions on the OL are not entirely clear to me. Certainly room to save cap space once the draft is done |
