He’s played on a high ankle sprain before and played well, and this one supposedly is not as severe as the last one he had.
The 'Ol Ball Coach (Spurrier) didn't really acquit himself either. We've had some clunkers.

But we're hardly alone. The Eagles had Chip Kelly and Rich Kotite. The Cowboys had Chan Gaily and Dave Campo. The Giants had Joe Judge and Ben McAdoo. Even just within our division, you could find some pretty bad coaches.

By Urban Meyer seems like the most buffoonish to me, and Pederson's success the year after proves it.
There's no way to top Urban Meyer as the ultimate horrible coach hiring. Zorn and Spurrier look like Lombardi and Shula next to Meyer's tenure as an NFL coach.

Former Buccaneers DT and HOF Warren Sapp said he’s heard “word” out of Chicago that the Bears are looking to package up Justin Fields and select Bryce Young.

The Alabama QB is the current favorite to be the first overall pick.

All rumors at this point.

Another OC vacancy filled:

@RapSheet
The #Rams are hiring former #Jets OC Mike LaFleur as their new coordinator, sources say. The favorite all along, another LaFleur joins coach Sean McVay.

It so hurts to read this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/the-best-player-on-the-49ers-isn-t-who-you-think-it-is/ar-AA16NUaF?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=37e31f349a6440da869e928271d7fe21

Just a remarkable player and team leader. Man, I wish we hadn't bungled that so badly.

Painful.

It's a top ten mistake of the Snyder era. We let a HOF tackle walk and the 49ers are most likely getting 5 years of All-Pro LT play for a 3rd and 5th round pick.

He likely would've been the first HOF player the Snyder era has ever produced if he stayed. But I'm sure he's going in as a 49er.

What is really sad is the miss management of so many talented coaches and players in ver the DS years ; it all really comes back to Dan the failures

I wonder why McVay didn't give Jay the job. Jay should try and coach in college. I think he'd be great for college football.

because they don't have a star QB sucking up all their cap dollars

That makes a big difference. Three of the four teams playing this weekend have starting QBs who are still on their rookie contracts. Much easier to build a team around that guy if he's only making a few mill.

2022 Cap hits:

Jimmy G - $12.6M + Trey L - $7.8M + Brock P - $724K = $21M
Joe B - $11.5M
Jalen H - $1.6M

Patrick M - $36M

Carson W - $28M + Taylor H - $3.4M = $31.4M <------------ Ouch!

its more impressive that KC is performing at such a high level with the Patty hit then it is SF staying under the cap with all their talent

Once you get that guy at QB1 and he blows up your cap then drafting around him, instant talented and high impact low salary players becomes the priority

KC does it well

GB not so much

If I’m GB the only way I’m trading 12 to Dallas is if I get Parsons in return. Jordan Love has a higher ceiling than Dak at this point.

Have to disagree here. Jordan Love hasn't been able to hit water if he falls off a boat. He is just not good. Dak at least is a capable QB.

In regards to AR the contract is huge and lots of guaranteed money it will be interesting to see what gets worked out here.

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread

The contract is the biggest reason I'd be surprised if Dallas even try. They've got a few guys they'd probably want to re-sign, notably Pollard, and they need WR help more than they need a QB upgrade.

I favour the Jets, history repeating itself.

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread

I saw a breakdown of Rodgers contract a few days ago, can't remember where, but it is mostly salary and the article in question indicated that Green Bay or an eventual trade partner could convert most of it to bonus and have him for less than $20m for the next two seasons. Obviously, after that they have to pay the price in void years but if they think they are close to Superbowl run it would not surprise me if someone out there took a gamble. Would it be worth it to win the Lombardi?

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread

Back to the games : I think it's interesting that we have in the AFC 2 teams lead by elite QBs and in the NFC maybe the 2 most complete rosters in the league led by good to very good but not elite QBs.

As much as I want pour division rivals to lose, it's jard not to like the way this Eagles team is built, they have what it takes to remind everybody that Purdy is a 7th round pick rookie with under 10 games in the NFL... But that niners roster is loaded on both sides of the ball. Should be a good one.
How could you not challenge that catch , Jesus Christ
Yeah Smith's demeanor screamed "I didn't control the ball guys let's hurry"... And the announcers somehow didn't have a clue what was happening "they are hurrying but he was clearly in bounds"... Well genius you need to be in bounds AND control the ball ^^

I love Josh Johnson. His story here was cool. And he went to college in San Diego.

But unless Eagles have a bunch of turnovers, I don't see SF winning.

You have to look at the bright side. When I go snowboarding super bowl Sunday the slopes will be empty because all the eagles fans stayed home. Think of all the runs I’ll get in!

Eagles officially have the easiest path to the Super Bowl in NFL history. A mediocre at best Giants team and the 49ers with their 84th string QB.

Basically they'll have to do absolutely nothing to make it to the SB.
