I did stop traveling FYI, I had a trip booked for tomorrow-Sunday that's cancelled now. Still have my Vegas-Cali trip flight tickets booked for June but obviously that's going to be cancelled too unless the virus goes away.
In the meantime I agree, but don't be so narrow and blame millenials. We're in our 30's now, and it seems a lot of these idiots going out and partying/etc. are in their 20's. Different generation, obviously not concerned a bit about the virus.
I thought you were younger mooby...damn my bad. Well they are still traveling tho. They are fucking up big time. Anybody traveling is a per asshole and should not be complaining about one fucking thing and should shut the fuck up. My brother in-law...long time New Yorker and works in the mid town...blaiso fucked up everything, the kids were still in school 10 days ago. People def weren’t social distancing over the weekend. Yes time square is empty...that’s for camera shots only to make it appear to rest of country. But folks still interacting and acting completely irresponsible...all ages, races and ethnicities. Probably 15 trips to the city. My sister lived in the upper east side and had a good friend in college who lived in Bergen county nj. I was always up there |

I lived out side of NYC(Essex County NJ) most of my life till I married then moved to Maryland in 1980 but the family is still all up there. Father worked downtown and we would go into see him once in a while and I hated it. I can get you around town but I get lost in the Subway system up there. We would take the train from town into the city to see the Knicks or Rangers back in the mid 70's .Last time in the city was after 9/11 we had friends come over from England and we took them to NYC and showed them around .You're right about it being backed but back when I was growing up on Sundays and most weekends Wall Street was so empty you could throw a rock and not hit a soul. |
Re: Coronavirus (political)
Love NYC, I’m a 2.5 hour train ride away. Try to get down there a couple times a year. I think if I was in my 20s living there would be fun, but now I’m ok with just visiting

sd, I know you want to absolve Trump of blame because this couple wasn't smart enough to understand fish tank cleaner can and will kill you, but idk why you can't acknowledge Trump is not nearly smart enough to be standing up there talking about anything science related.
Obviously the massive majority of the blame needs to go on the couple that heard Trump speak and thought "oh my fish tank cleaner has that, let's dilute it and try it out." But you can at least acknowledge Trump has no business whatsoever talking about anything science related. If he was smart he would literally say "science is not my field of expertise, I am deferring all technical/science related questions to the qualified personnel." Instead he's up there talking about potential miracle cures that qualified people do not support whatsoever. He's selling false hope to those of us who aren't smart enough to understand better. |

I agree to a degree. What these people apparently did was not logical. But you do have trump selling these false positives, avoiding talking about the real negatives ... with the apparent only interest in stemming the stock market declines. But aren't there quite a few articles out there that talk about the real potential of them? And they are researching it in terms of actually prescribing real doses? Anyways, we can agree to disagree. But at a minimum they share a chunk of the blame. |

The fish cleaning agent story is complete dishonesty by the media.
We do here understand that Hydroxychloroquine has worked to combat and lead to the recovery of people here with the China virus? One Washington state man who is 55, it was credited with saving his life. But we wouldn’t expected the shithole media publish stories about this right? Let’s be a little more honest and not so cowardly that you only post stories of obviously mentally ill or just stupid people who take fish cleaning agents and then pin it on the president. We know the treatment has worked for some under the care of physicians. Period. So please, back yall high-fiving the death of person to own the President. Keep that division up. |

Former New York Times reporter Alex Borenson called Ferguson’s revised predictions a “remarkable turn,” and noted that Ferguson himself has tested positive for the virus. “[B][U]The UK only began its lockdown 2 days ago, and the theory is that lockdowns take 2 weeks or more to work,” Borenson said. “Not surprisingly, this testimony has received no attention in the US – I found it only in UK papers. The FDA has moved mountains – Thank You!,” Trump tweeted Saturday morning. “Hopefully they will BOTH … be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!” The president made sure to tag the official accounts of Centers for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Homeland Security and FDA boss Stephen Hahn. Earlier in the week, Trump said hydroxychloroquine was among the drugs being tested for treating coronavirus, but his FDA chief said it’s too soon to say when. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the most visible member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, agreed — to a point. “The president is talking about hope for people and it’s not an unreasonable thing to hope for people,” Fauci said. “My job as a scientist … is to ultimately prove without a doubt that a drug is not only safe, but that it actually works,” he added. “Those two things are really not incompatible when you think about it, particularly when you’re in an arena where you don’t have anything that’s proven,” Fauci said. |

In which case I applaud you. 2) Everyone knows that a leader's words are very powerful. There are a lot of sheep out there, so if he says to take a certain mix of drugs, someone will. Well someone did and they died. You can't defend Trump's tweet on this subject with any credibility. 3) There's no scientific basis for taking the drugs you mentioned. That's not how doctors are treating this thing. |

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-team-failed-nsc-pandemic-000023392.html Trump team failed to follow NSC’s pandemic playbook Trump team failed to follow NSC’s pandemic playbook By Dan Diamond and Nahal Toosi PoliticoMarch 25, 2020, 8:00 PM EDT The Trump administration, state officials and even individual hospital workers are now racing against each other to get the necessary masks, gloves and other safety equipment to fight coronavirus — a scramble that hospitals and doctors say has come too late and left them at risk. But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago. “Is there sufficient personal protective equipment for healthcare workers who are providing medical care?” the playbook instructs its readers, as one early decision that officials should address when facing a potential pandemic. “If YES: What are the triggers to signal exhaustion of supplies? Are additional supplies available? If NO: Should the Strategic National Stockpile release PPE to states?” The strategies are among hundreds of tactics and key policy decisions laid out in a 69-page National Security Council playbook on fighting pandemics, which POLITICO is detailing for the first time. Other recommendations include that the government move swiftly to fully detect potential outbreaks, secure supplemental funding and consider invoking the Defense Production Act — all steps in which the Trump administration lagged behind the timeline laid out in the playbook. “Each section of this playbook includes specific questions that should be asked and decisions that should be made at multiple levels” within the national security apparatus, the playbook urges, repeatedly advising officials to question the numbers on viral spread, ensure appropriate diagnostic capacity and check on the U.S. stockpile of emergency resources. The playbook also stresses the significant responsibility facing the White House to contain risks of potential pandemics, a stark contrast with the Trump administration’s delays in deploying an all-of-government response and President Donald Trump's recent signals that he might roll back public health recommendations. |

I get that he thinks the media is biased against him and I tend to agree with him. So I see why he uses Twitter to an extent, but he should be posting measured responses and information not just throwing everything and its mother against the wall and seeing what sticks. And no one knows about everything. Part of being intelligent and being a good leader is to know your strengths and weaknesses and relying on your support team to handle things that aren't in your expertise. So basically its perfectly reasonable to just STFU sometimes.

Re: Coronavirus (political)
Some of the crap Trump spews on subjects where he has no knowledge boggles the mind. A good one was the disqualification of Maximum Security the horse that crossed the wire first in the 2019 Kentucky Derby. It was the first time they have taken down the winner of the Derby and it was a no brainer. He blamed it on political correctness, he probably doesn't know which end of a horse eats and which end craps.
Continuing on where he has no knowledge I think auto makers cooperating to help make respirators is nothing but a ploy to game the government for money, like when GM took a bailout and still filed bankruptcy during the last recession, screwing over all their suppliers. Working in the manufacturing sector for 40 years, while admitting I have never seen a schematic or assembly drawing of a respirator, it is pretty obvious looking at pictures an automaker is about as well equipped to make one as your neighborhood McDonalds. Looks like the main components outside of electronics are molded plastic, rubber and tubing. All of those items automakers like GM buy from their vendors, they do not make them. Most of the electronics on GM vehicles is also purchased from 3rd party vendors. GM pretty much makes all the solid metal parts like engines, transmissions, body parts and suspension. WTF a car frame and a respirator have in common is beyond me. I can see it now GM will be willing to make respirators for a $50 billion bailout and being able to charge time and materials to make them, as in given a blank check from the government. |
