Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Why can't DirecTV allow everybody the opportunity to just purchase the Sunday Ticket? I would gladly pay for the Sunday ticket and stream it via Roku or PS4 if they would sell it to me, but because I'm at an address where I'm eligible for DTV service, they won't let me have just NFL Sunday Ticket. I have to be a DTV customer, and quite frankly, their price gouging after a year is why I no longer subscribe to their service.
If AT&T is smart, they should start adding the NFL package as an option to their Direct TV Now streaming service. The NFL needs to get smart about offering streaming options. A lot of people are getting rid of cable and going with streaming services. |

A lot of people are getting rid of cable and going with streaming services.
Yes, and not only streaming options, but the ability to start the stream on a delay. Sometimes, I'm out and not home right at 1pm to watch the game. If it's on local TV, I can DVR, but if not then I have to find a shared stream. To be able to access the stream on a delay and watch the game like that would be just fine for me! And I would gladly pay NFL Sunday Ticket package price for such ability. It's kind of like the Napster days. Sure, you have some who refused to ever pay to have certain music, but then you had those who begged to have the ability to pay for just the tracks we wanted without having to buy the entire album. Thus, eventually, iTunes was created! The NFL needs to wake up and see that something similar is happening with their product. People don't want to pay for DirecTV just to have NFL Sunday ticket. After all, the other stuff that DirecTV offers can pretty much be had with the other pay TV services. But, it's the NFL Sunday ticket that is sought after, and a lot of us wind up having to find a stream online to watch the game. I would GLADLY pay, even pay per stream, to watch my team in full HD, and live. |
NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
The NFL is definitely working on streaming options since they’ve already been doing it here and there with Twitter and Amazon. Just a matter of time and money
|
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
The sunday ticket is worth the $ but damn why do they have to make it go up??? So annoying

They have it. They just don´t sell it to you. :P |

Exactly! If they can provide that service to our friends across the pond, no reason why they couldn't provide it to all of us in the states. I mean, they do technically have it, but only local/regional games and prime time games. Not out of market games live unless you're a DirecTV subscriber. |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
I suppose it´s related to the TV Deals - why would Fox, ABC, NBC, whoever, pay a ton of money and invest in crews and cameras etc for people to watch it via stream and pay only direct to the NFL.
So, first, those would need to be restructured. Maybe the XFL Network will show how it´s done. ;) |
NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
It’s just a matter of $$, who’s going to come to the plate with an offer the league can’t refuse for streaming rights, and how does it work alongside the network deals
|

I'm also thinking that in the very near future, when ATSC 3.0 becomes the new broadcasting standard, which will merge internet with OTA, there will be subscription options opened up for cordcutters, and that will be the perfect time to provide such a deal to those guys. |

Yeah McDonough felt average to me. I liked Gruden but it will be nice to see a fresh pair in the booth next season.

Simms was the worst. The last few years I'm unsure if he was really calling games or they just had a Simms chat bot repeating the same generic crap play after play. |

Didn't know where else to put this and not thread worthy - but it sounds like Vikings will open up against Philly to kick off the NFL season.

Should be a very interesting game to watch. |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Thursday night, opening week, pressuring defense. IF the old qb lights up the Eagles I will be shocked.
|
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Go Eagles!!! Not really, but pretty close. For all intensive purposes, Vikings are an NFC East team to me this year. I'll be rooting against them just about every game.

To the point where you'd root for an actual NFCE rival to win? I know where my priorities are, and they don't include rooting for any NFCE rival to win. |

That's why I said "not really". |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Thank God. looks like we might be going back to the old rules for a completion: ball in hand and two feet down rule. I hope so.
"Slight movement of the ball, it looks like we'll reverse that," he said. "Going to the ground, it looks like that's going to be eliminated. And we'll go back to the old replay standard of reverse the call on the field only when it's indisputable." Vincent mentioned two infamous non-catches in recent years and said they would be catches under the new rule: "The Dez Bryant play, that'd be a catch. The Jesse James play, that'd be a catch." Over the past several days, the @NFL Competition Committee has been reviewing the process of a catch. The first two elements are control and two feet down. Additional elements are also under consideration. Here are a few of the plays we are looking at. Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Catches will also be debatable, but they do need to move away from the idea that it needs to be perfect
|

Just so I understand. When he says "Slight movement of the ball, it looks like we'll reverse that", meaning, a slight movement in the ball as long as it's in the receiver's hands will be a catch? And, "Going to the ground, it looks like that's going to be eliminated." I'm assuming this was the Dez Bryant catch? |

Which goes back to having full time officials that are trained in the off-season, and graded out BEFORE the season, as well as during. |

Ha! If 2 teams are playing each other that are both from NFC east I'm always pulling for the team playing the Cowboys!:silly: |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
I like the fact that we get to root for Kirk in the opener.
|
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Kirk has played well against Philly in the past but we all know he’s a slow starter

And he doesn't win big games for us. Eagles are gonna whoop em again. |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
He’s on a much better team now, so he doesn’t have to ball out to win
|
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
must not make it a kc thread.
I Hope our opening game is against the Giant or Cowboys and AS kicks their secondary's a**!!!! |
Re: NFL ratings, TV deals, Jersey sales, Rule changes, Expansion, etc
Need to look up Smiths record in opening games. Hopefully he can overcome Grudens standard 0-1.
