[QUOTE=calia;1154392]Dude - your posts are in the nature of respected adversary. More tolerable than some of the stuff from actual Skins fans (like those who want to bench Cousins, cut Hopkins, trade Jones for a stale waffle, etc). I can only speak for myself, but you and Giantone are ok in my books. Even though you like loathesome teams.

Right. I think there should be a league-wide ban on trading with the Patriots. |

Sean Payton comin' in hot with the common sense! I have to assume NFL refs being part time is all about money, because with how insane the rulebook is I really can't understand why it shouldn't be a full time job. |

Refs should definitely be full time.

Yes that has always been the argument. It is insane to me that for 180 k you cannot find a group of individuals who can make it a year round job. You pretty much could follow the players schedule. Officials training camp, regular season, etc. You are dedicated to your craft and you make about 200k. What exactly is the hold up, because I will sign up yesterday. I mean it is not like they make 2k a game so it is not feasible? For 200K do you really need another gig? Wtf? |

We have conditions in my role where I need to let the employer know if I obtain employment anywhere else, for any amount of hours. |

Re: Around the NFL halfway mark.
The refs are and have been god awful for a long time. Way too involved anymore in deciding the outcomes of game or heavily influencing them.. it really makes my blood boil on every level... they should have been full time for decades, it's a standard in other sports and i dont give a rats ass about the legnth of the season. Will they fix it? Prolly not the league doesn't give a.shit unless its gonna make them $ not cost them some. #joke

I know a lot is made of how the current refs are from other jobs, even lauded most of the time. But at this point, with it impacting the play on the field, it really needs to be the only thing they do. OR the NFL needs to cut the rule book in half and just "let the players play", but they aren't going to do that. I'm sure it's a Ref Union thing too, because the NFL can't just switch to full time ref's if they want too, they have to get the union to go along, and that probably involves "painful" give and take from the NFL. Whatever the reasons against it, the NFL needs to make getting full-time officials a priority. |

A full time ref who has his livelihood depending on how well he performs would surely raise the stakes for people to try to do a better job. And talk about bull shit calls...illegal formation. I don't care where anyone stands on the line of scrimmage (or 1 yard off, etc.) Eliminate the illegal formation BS and pass a rule that anyone wearing a number in the 50's, 60's or 70's cannot be a receiver and be done with it. Anybody else in the game...well, you better cover them if they go run a route. No more having to report in as an eligible receiver, etc. |

They could always pay Goodell much less than they do so they could afford full-time refs. What is he getting paid? I think it's around $40MM, which is absurd. |

It's getting ugly in Jacksonville. Owner's son should know better than to chastise fans who've suffered a lot the past decade.

Good for the Jags fans. People need to wake up to the fact that they are in essence just consumers to the various franchises and realize they can go elsewhere for entertainment. Bottom line is that it is indeed entertainment. Skins fans will be doing the same in 2-3 years if the team doesn't turn the corner.
