So you drafted 1st or 2nd and after taking Foster first you took Chris Johnson and on the turn MJD? First, both these guys lasted this long? Why wouldnt you take a WR at that point?
I was 3rd in a 10 man draft. Took Foster with my 1st pick. Johnson in the second and MJD when my pick came back around. I wasn't super high on and WR when MJD was available because I have the RB/WR flex and I can start all 3 RB's.

A guy offered me Cam Newton and Fred Jackson for Arian Foster and Jay Cutler

Fred Jackson getting up there in age and coming off injury...id stay with Foster and Jay, but tempting to say the least.

Because you can start all 3, hell yeah nice. I assumed you could only start 2 RBs. Solid team. And like Blunt Hair said, WR is deep. Solid team, my first draft is tomorrow night. I think Jay reunited with Marshall could be just as effective as Stafford to M. Tron this year.

I dunno. For that I would think I was punishing something that was more impressive than a one yard run. We'll see how it goes this year, but I always thought it was BS when a single player beat you who didn't even rush for fifty yards.

Ok what source/website/magazine do you guys trust as a starting point to building your cheat sheet for your drafts? My draft is in a week and I need to start putting my thoughts on paper. I never take one source and just run with it, but I do usually try to find one that is pretty close to my thoughts and then make adjustments from there. I'm not drafting againt any of you guys so please share some of your thoughts.

I've used fftoday.com and fftoolbox.com some in the past and not the ones everyone else will use like ESPN/YAHOO/NFL.COM

i make my own cheat sheet based on the results from the previous year. I pull the data from yahoo within my league so my scoring totals are accurate. Then i add in rookies, and i tweak the depth chart. then sort by team, add in bye weeks and a comment column. It's already done minus the depth of the players, which is fluid. comments i add based on the people i follow around the country via twitter. bleacher report had a great article a few days ago on the 30 'must follow' football personalities.

Right now you'd have to go with Royster. TH still sitting out, Helu nursing an achilles injury... but I'd probably avoid taking any of the Skins backs.

Re: Fantasy Football 2012 Thread

Since T. Davis, you should never draft a Shanahan back. They are picked up in free agency to fill in for bye weeks. Too inconsistent.

I will heartily endorse this even though I hate telling anyone that. I had hoped it was just a small pub that no one used.

I tend to think their projections and player rankings are the best out there year in and year out.

I use my own projections but I do it by position and then put the names in. I use FFI for the rankings.

Re: Fantasy Football 2012 Thread

I love my WR's but hate my RB's lol.

WR: C. Johnson, W. Welker, Jordy Nelson (Reserves nothing to write home about: L. Robinson, Oakland's third string - whatever his name is lol).

RB's: Marshawn Lynch, Stevan Ridley & Pierre Thomas (Reserve: S. Vereen)

TE: Gates, QB: Ryan, with Fitzpatrick in reserve, DEF: Chicago, K: Hansen

Wanted Bradshaw or Gore as my 2nd back but both stolen either the pick ahead of me (Bradshaw) or 2 picks ahead (Gore). Instead of Bradshaw I took Nelson (4th Round) but should have grabbed Gore, even if Nelson had been gone by my next pick. In the 5th, with Gore gone, I picked Gates. Would have felt better with Gore, Nelson/Bowe (who was still on the Board at my 5th pick so would have gotten either Bowe or Nelson as a 3rd WR). Gore/Bowe > Nelson/Gates.

Those two rounds were my biggest screw-up and really puts me in a hole. Gates is nice, but he will put up middle of the pack numbers and my 2nd back probably won't even do that. Grrrrr.

I think this is Ryan's break out year - two great wide outs, solid TE and an aging runner mean more reliance on his arm. Doubt he will put up Rodgers numbers, but betting he will be in the neighborhood.

Joe your WRs are obviously strong and I don't know if you start 2WR and have a Flex or not, but with your team I would start all 3 WR using one in the flex. You are only weak at one position and that's RB and its better to be weak at one than several. Just monitor the league and look for waiver guys to fill in your RB2 position. Did Donald Brown get drafted? or Ronnie Brown? You might reach deep now for some week 1 starters to get off the waiver wire and then go from there. Whom ever drafted Ryan Mathews won't be using him for a few weeks so Ronnie Brown might get ou thru a few games until you can see how things develop.

Depending on the scoring, Megatron can carry your team...and if Peyton Manning returns to his old self. I had the law firm either last year or the year before, he wasn't that great. I thought Lynch was supposed to be good though? Stevie Johnson is a decent option, he's good for a couple of 100-yd games.

Matty, funny I am just now finding this post of yours, but I had my draft last night and my team looks similar to yours.

QB P.Manning, B Roethlisberger
RB Lynch, Mathews, McGahee R. Jennings, Deangelo Williams, S. Ridley
WR Megatron, A.J Green, Garcon, Kendall Wright
TE Hernandez
K M. Bryant
D Packers

Deep at RB, but that's because Ryan Mathews is a keeper and probably won't play until week 3. I was excited to get Rashard Jennings late because even if and when MJD comes back, I may have Mathews by then. I was surprised the guy that had MJD didn't grab Jennings early. Kind of like the Ben Tate, Foster handcuff.

Your top 3 receivers are SOLID, and will all but up consisten numbers. I could see all three guys in the top 7-8 this year. Your RBs are pretty weak. I personally dont beleive in having backup TEs or QBs. I'm pretty sure Manning is going to be great and Palmer will be very good. If you end up needing help at RB, a few weeks into the season you may be able to trade Manning (if you were so inclined) for a stud RB. Still, youre roster is built to roll with 3 WRs per week, and Green-Ellis and Lynch are both very good. You just need to hope Lynch wont get suspended.

My pay league draft, 12 teams, Starts: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (TE,WR,RB), Def, K. 15 rounds, $80 enter fee.. No PPR.

I drafted at 9 in a snake:

QB: Schaub
RB: McFadden, Sproles, Ridley, Gerhart, Hardesty
WR: Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Antonio Brown, Nate Washinton, Little
TE: Finely, Celek
Def: Philly
K: Keading

At the 9 slot in the draft was satisfied with the result. No Back up QB is a lil issue, but Alex Smith, Fitzpatrick, Ponder, Locker and others werent drafted so dont feel so bad. Little worried bout RB with McFadden, but he's had a monster preseason and looks 100%.

I plan on flexing Ridley and Antonio Brown depending on match up.

Re: Fantasy Football 2012 Thread

Ok, I guess I should ask for drafting advice for my money league as well since I came in dead last in my 12 team keeper league last year. The draft is Monday afternoon. And I pre-apologize for the megapost.

Here are the basics: 6 points for passing touchdowns, pretty standard scoring otherwise, no PPR, the league is for $100 and money has been tight lately so I don't want to completely waste it, and finally, I guess they only guys of note being kept are McFadden and Murray. I have the 4th pick this year. Also, my only keeper is Cutler (probably a backup but I think he might be okay this year) for an 11th rounder out of 15.

On one hand I think I should go with Rodgers/Brady/Brees since its 6pts for passing TDs. On the other hand I took Rodgers with the 5th pick last year and ended up with flaming turds for RBs and subsequently ended up in last place.

So -take Rodgers and pray that someone like Jamaal Charles/Stephen Jackson/Adrian Peterson is still around in the 2nd? Or, should I take Foster, Rice, or McCoy if they're available* and then try to get someone like Rivers or Ryan in say the 3rd?

*One other thing - even though QBs dominate our league point-wise most of the other owners don't take them as early as you might think.

In my league QBs dominate in points so they are taken early. I'd ratger have a Brees/Rodgers/Brady than a top RB. You can get a good RB in the second round.

I wouldn't start MJD this week, maybe next week, but I think Rashard Jennings will get most of the carries this week, if for no other reason than a reward for his preseason work. Here is one for you, I have Marshawn Lynch (must start) but then I have Steven Ridley, McGhee, Deangelo Williams. Which one of those guys in week ! do you start? Oh I have Ryan Mathews, but that's for week 2 or 3.

I wonder if MJD's holdout will affect his numbers. I am sure he will have a slow start.
