Sure they will. He's Mike Wallace.
The real question is whether someone will sign him if they think Pittsburgh will match the offer.
Wonder if New England will make a move for Wallace. Or perhaps settle for Brandon Lloyd. |
Hey Smoot, what's the word on getting a CB through free agency? I somehow get the feeling that the team won't spend a lot of money on getting one of these top CBs, if they are going to spend money on a #1 WR.
Ya I was gonna ask smoot the same question. I would LOVE to have Brandon Carr. But I get a bad feeling that we'll get Ronde Barber. |

Really? Ronde Barber? He's a little old to ask to be our starting corner. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
the best 2 options out there at corner will be Finnegan and Carr, Carr would be my first choice bc of age but i would be fine with Finnegan. At WR im not sure whats going to happen with Bowe, if he somehow tests the market we should snag him, if not i say Stevie Johnson.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Carr had alot of issues in coverage from what I read. After a couple decent seasons, last year was a serious let down. Bringing Carr into to replace Hall doesnt fix the problem.
|
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Don't think CB is a priority, but definitely Carr could be in play. And someone else I heard, Terrelle Thomas maybe? Can't recall
Primary focus this off-season is offense though |

From what i heard some felt Carr was better than Flowers in KC but who knows I honestly didnt see enough of them. |

Hey man I don't want him at all, but I remember hearing we'd be interested because Bruce Allen was with him in Tampa |

In my opinion he's the best CB available even though he's coming back from injury. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
So which "impact" WR do you guys think we will end up signing?
|
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I think we will only sign a TRUE impact WR if we sign PM, if we draft RG(3) we will go through the draft, only because most impact WR's are older and by the time RG(3) hits his prime they will be past there's IMO.
|
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
So Stevie Johnson at 25 will be past his prime when RG3 is 22? I doubt that. Does Anquian Boldin being "past" his prime hinder Joe Flacco?
|

IMO Stevie Johnson is Eddie Royal and I figure we are signing him. |

I agree. I'd be stoked if we got Terrelle Thomas. |

Stevie Johnson is much better than Eddie Royal and I would love pairing either him or Vincent Jackson with Hankerson. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Best FAs who will actually get to the market
Young guys: WR Mike Wallace (1st round comp) RB Arian Foster (1st round comp) LB Geno Hayes (TB) DT Amobi Okoye (Chi) CB Brandon Carr (KC) LB Curtis Lofton (ATL) DE Kendall Langford (MIA) WR Mario Manningham (NYG) RB Marshawn Lynch (SEA) WR Stevie Johnson (BUF) Best, regardless of age LB London Fletcher G Carl Nicks (NO) QB David Garrard (JAX) WR Reggie Wayne (IND) DE John Abraham (ATL) WR Marques Colston (NO) NT Sione Pouha (NYJ) WR Vincent Jackson (SD) C Scott Wells (GB) |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Terrell Thomas is legit, but Carr is one of the best players out there.

ditto. i like what royal brings but hes no stevie, stevie has the potential to be elite since he is still young if he can improve on some things |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Can we just clear cap space and sign every available free agent?
|
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
We have 47 million in cap space. What more do you want?
|
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I have a feeling that guys like Stevie Johnson or Marques Colston may be less expensive than Vincent Jackson (and in the case of SJ, much younger). I wouldn't mind seeing any of these guys in B&G next season.
I know D-Line is not much of a need, but I would love to see us get Soliai, the NT from Miami. I would slide Cofield to DE in that situation, but there are bigger needs. If Landry is not an option, I would like to the team to spend some cash in this position. I feel like we can live with our current CBs, but we gotta get the safety position in good shape. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Ok so I'm here thinking that a midnight on March 12th starts FA and we can start hearing players aquired and so forth. I tooling around and just saw somewhere that FA starts 4pm on March 13th. Which is it?

4pm for everyone? Sweet! That gives us a three hour advantage over those stupid west coasters...

no, KC said he would if they couldn't get a deal done though, and that he won't be leaving town. |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Raiders have tagged Tyvon Branch, and Cardinals Calais Campbell. Curious what impact, if any, that may have on Arizona's intent to sign Peyton Manning

I'm still shocked they are so willing to give up on Kolb after giving up so much to get him (and only after one year, no less)! |
Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
PFT: Tag for Fred Davis is not a done deal, yet.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Not sure where to put this in but since Brees is is free agent, so this should be appropriate. I saw this and I thought that Saints GM is being ridiculous! Brees is definitely one of great QBs IMO.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I think we should look at adding Tatupu and sliding him in there with Fletcher and Riley. Great rotation there, and he is fairly young, so he could replace fletcher for 5 to 7 years after he goes if everything stays good and he is healthy. I think he is like 28 or 29, and could be solid in the 34.

Oh btw, the skins put a claim on Perrish Cox a while back but couldn't get him because he was suspended in the nfl for his rape trial. He got off, so we are now able to get him if we want him.
