Re: Smoot lays the smack down (Skins/Bills) - mattyk edition

The hiring of Shanny was just another gimmick hiring. I am not so sure if Snyder really cares about winning either. Shanny got us rubes excited in the beginning, and yet now only not quite halfway through year 2 of the Shanny era, we see that the guy just might be a bum. What would be hilarious is if Norv got the boot from San Diego only to be rehired here. It could happen. Cowher turned down the notion of coaching anywhere next season via twitter, so Norv would be the only sexy pick available for Snyder to consider, unless he really got gutsy and hired a truly able OC or DC from somewhere in the league, a young Norv if you will. The thing is Snyder is running out of cards to play post Shanny. Norv would probably be the only veteran coach who would even go for the job here, and even that isn't likely since the way Snyder canned him after 2000. Why, oh why do we keep wanting to drink Snyder's Kool Aid?
Yeah but who's going to be in charge of picking the QB? Cause right now, I simply don't trust the Shanahan's when it comes to picking a qb.
Skins,

If this crap doesn't get better in say 5 weeks the Shanny's are toast. The crap is getting old and Snyder knows it. He expects to fill the stands, etc with a crappy product in a town with many other distractions offered to the public? If this continues you will have empty seats by December. The fact that we got so hot over a coach who hasn't done anything special since John Elway was still around tells something about how desperate we are for a winner here, and how we can be delusional as well.

You really want the Shanahan's gone? That's so Snyder-esqe of you. Hasn't that been our problem over the last 15 years...impantience. We've been a crappy organization for a long time...we're rebuilding...at least we're rebuilding.

Yeah, I was opposed to the Shanny hire and sadly I feel that my opinion has been vindicated. But yet another knee-jerk change of regimes probably won't fare any better than what we've got now.

The Shanaplan is non existent. The guy doesn't know how to rebuild a franchise, or coach unless he inherited much of it. My uncle is a better coach than Shanny. Too bad he is 80, I would recommend him for the job. He is really into the trenches stuff.

My smackdown goes to the worst offense in the league. Ladies and gentlemen this is our Washington Redskins team. In the last two weeks we have made two of the worst defensive teams in the league look like the defense you would get if you combined the best of the 85 bears w/ the 2000 Ravens. Our offense is truly pathetic. 14 rushing yards today, we have so many positions of need that we cant fill them all in the 2012 draft which means next year will be tough too. FML.

on another bonus for it being your wifes b day and you had much better things to do than watch the skins game . . . if it wasnt your wifes b day and you told her "hey hon im just gonna go down to the bar and watch the game, be back when its over" .... it was over in 2 and a half ****in hours, yeah man not only did the skins suck ballsack they did it in a time frame that you totally didnt expect and was not prepared to cut your drinking needing intake geared towards.

if i know i got an hr and a half, i drink accordingly meaning 4 buds leaving lil alcohol residual smell plus no less then 3 vodka drinks so i actually somekinda drunk. this requires some secret home care follow up in the basement.

if i got 3 plus hours i like to go strong on the whiskey hard and heavy early knowing that leaves me a good hr and half to cover the smell deep in my throat and tongue (citric cleanser mixed drinks). we are talking hammer time in 3 hours guaranteed.

give me a normal 4 hr football game and im going banananas ball to the wall for a good 2 hours, tone it down to citric mixed drinks to cleanse the palate type shit in hour 3 then strictly light beers like bud and boh for the final 4th hour.

..i forgot what we are talking about . .

edit - oh yeah i remember. FREAK THE SKINS for doing some 2 half hour bullshit game. i got to get to the bar after doing the lady shit right before halftime. i plan my drunk schedule accordingly. Everyone chill out. We are in the middle of a rebuild. If your bitching about losing, you shouldn't have demanded a rebuild in the first place.

We are just experiencing growing pains. Calm down everyone. Take your lips off the barrel and realize it may take another draft or two before we have developed a consistent winner... we'll get there though.

fact. alot of guys only get to enjoy bar time from kickoff to end whistle.

reality. i really only get let out of the cage from kickoff to end whistle.

today i didnt get let out until roughly 5 mins left in 2nd quarter. around 4:17 we pulled up to whole foods and I was able, after negotiation, to wait in the car and to listen to sunny and the game as i waited for her to go into wholefoods shopipng. we got home. she complained about how she mentioned the dish washer was ready for dirty dishes, not that she said she wanted me to actually do the dirty dishes, just that she mentioned that the dish washer was full of dirty dishes. she then very forcefully talked about how i was up this morning and could have done the dishes. i started to do the dishes even though i literally told her as soon as i got everything inside the house from shopping, "ok im going to the bar, i done missed almost the first half!" i literally asked permission, then was granted permission, to leave the rest of the dirty dishes and run to the bar.

i dont know what you mean by messed up. literrally she is making me enchiladas, the past 20 mins i was away from here was bc she called me away and now she is calling me from downstairs in this eerie "punkipie" voice . . .help me HelP MEEe!!!! im already dead. im just paying out the motions. i think we have top chef lined up for tonight. joy.\\she speaks form the kitche

We are not a rebuilding team, we just plain suck. Last year, instead of trying to win right away with McNabb, change to a new defense, or spend the entire season teaching Haynesworth a lesson, Mike Shanahan should have been focusing on fixing the offense. Instead, we got duped by the Eagles, have spent a lot of resources on an average defense, and still have the same problems on the offensive side of the ball.

And f*ck this culture change, I thought it was there, but it isn't there. There are supposedly worst teams out there that are playing with more heart and desire, despite the lack of talent. I don't see that on this team. There is no sense of urgency, there is no sense of wanting to play hard.

I wasn't expecting a super bowl, a playoff run, nor a winning season. But I wasn't expecting this piss poor performance period. We have yet to have a coach on this team that takes a look at the players that they have, and figures out a way to use whatever talents they have to the best of their abilities. With scheme, it seems to be my way or the highway with coaches (the latest being a focus on passing and switching to a brand new defensive scheme).

I will still root for my Redskins, but it is going to be a long season since we seem to be dealing with the results of last year's bad decisions.

Yes we are. You have to read between the lines. When Shanny first took over this team, he flat out said it was going to take some time (stayed away from the "rebuilding" word though) but we were going to be competitive. He also said in a interview (regarding his son Kyle) that he actually advised him to stay in Houston because it was a better situation.

It's not hard to understand what this man is saying. He's saying it's a team full of garbage talent and it's going to take time to replace it. Guess what? Nothing has changed. It's STILL going to take time.

If you look back at the latest WP article regarding the whole Danny/Vinny/Shanny/Zorn fiasco, you also see that the source (aka..vinny) specifically said that Shanny told Danny boy that even if he did take over the team mid-season, it still wouldn't change the results. He's saying YOU GOT A SHITTY TEAM.

So what if this was a shitty team, he hasn't done much about it because I don't see an ounce of change on this team. Our offense still sucks, our defense is somewhat okay, we still have a problem at QB, and we play with no desire.

I've been Kyle's biggest defender the last few weeks, but the playcalling was absolutely horrible today. Couple that with terrible WR and Oline play John "I Telegraph My Passes" Beck was not going to succeed.

For the defensive side, being on the field for that long against a prolific offense, I think they did well.

NEWSFLASH: We are 3-3. Not, 0-6.

Ok, you had the restricted Free Agency off-season his first year and he was handcuffed with what he could do. (tried for Vincent Jackson but a no go) Sure he made a mistake with McNabb, but he also drafted a key part to the OL.

Second year during off-season is the lockout. He bolstered the defense considerable through the draft and free agency.

No QBs were on the market, and obviously none in the draft he deemed worthy of selecting at the spot we were at. (many teams reached) He turned the few picks we had into a masterful draft (even if they don't all pan out).

You can't turn shit into sugar my friend. Give the guy time and a chance to get more players in here with value.

Also, we've been hit hard with injuries, and our depth just isn't cutting it right now.

We haven't seen that yet. And if the defense is "somewhat okay" then that would be your upgrade considering last season's D.

It wasn't possible to address every single need. This year the focus was defense.

How about this -- instead of taking a dump on each and every coach that comes to town, how about the players step up for once? Did anyone catch the graphic about all of the coaches after their first 22 games in Washington? It doesn't seem to matter if you have a legend for a head coach, a bad head coach, or a pathetic, clueless head coach -- the results are always the same with this organization. So when your trying to figure out what's wrong with a team, isn't it EVER justifiable to look at the players?
