Maybe if you're looking for a bunch of midlevel guys in your Madden franchise to turn into pro bowlers but I don't like that corps in real life. Well maybe like, but certainly not love and even then I'm not about to pin the success of any team on a receiving corps outside of Arizona circa 2008.

Yeah I mean who does Oakland have that's any good at WR? Ford is a special teamer so far and the other guys have done nothing

Lesson here: people think all young players haven't done anything.

I'll try to put it another way. I like Ford, Murphy, Schilens, DHB, Moore a lot more than I like Roddy White, Julio Jones, Harry Douglas, Eric Weems. I don't think it's even close.
God the Raiders are just totally loaded at the wide receiver position. I'm almost certain they're going to find a way to make the playoffs. There's just no spot for them in my projections: the Chargers win the West, the Ravens and the Steelers play fictitiously easy schedules this year (as do the far less talented Browns), and the system really likes the Texans defense (seriously). So that's six playoff teams right there. I just think the Raiders are loaded.
Do you and jsarno run Vegas like Clooney and Pitt?
Do you and jsarno run Vegas like Clooney and Pitt?
Ha. Not exactly, but we run Oakland like Pitt and Jonah Hill.

I still think the Texans are going to screw it up in the end. Sixteen games is a long time for Gary Kubiak and Wade Phillips to not make a franchise killing decision. They just look really good on paper in September, better than they ever have before, perhaps.

But the Jets look weaker than I've seen them in awhile, and that opens up a pretty big spot in the AFC for a surprise team to grab. Weakest AFC schedules: Steelers, Ravens, Raiders, Chargers, Browns.

Soooo, if you're not being totally sarcastic, I guess this makes it okay that they let Zach Miller get away?

I think Roddy White/Julio Jones will be a formidable 1-2 for several years.

It's just not going to be difficult at all for them to get open receivers running downfield. Only ? will be the protection.

See we would be coming up with plans to run Vegas but we spend to much time on crap like this.

Re: 2011 Playoff Projections

I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognizes Oakland potential ability to be at least a sleeper. Their offense certain has weapons. At least one firmly established, and a bunch of guys with potential.

Jacoby Ford is not "just a special teamer". Unlike someone like Brandon Banks, catching difficult balls, tapping the toes before going out of bounds, and adjusting while the ball is in flight is not foreign to him. His game against the Chiefs alone is a excellent showcase of his skills at WR. And his ability to "steal interceptions" also came in handy against the Dolphins.

Those who have the Chargers pegged as a "locked" as a division winner are bound to have another wake-up call. Despite having plenty of sacks as a team, they only had ONE 10+ sack player.
Not to mention Norval is always giving some "chokeritis" to that team.

Oh theres plenty of sleepers. However much less in the AFC where the top 6 have been established for the last few years. However you look at Tenneessee who maybe gets the old Matt Hasselbeck, or maybe Houston gets their defense on track and makes a run at the South. Kansas City is coming off a playoff year. Jacksonville is always tough and scrappy. However that top 6 in the AFC doesn't seem likely to budge without a major injury or two.

NFC theres much more wiggle room at the bottom. Skins aside I could easily see New York, Dallas, Tampa, Seattle, and Chicago all making the playoffs among the teams I didn't list. However I like the Lions to get all their crap together.

One things for sure though, there will be surprises. I just hope that Beck and the Skins in general are one of them.

You're assuming "Oakland for the wildcard". The thing is, the AFC West is wide open between the Chargers, Chiefs, and Raiders, and there is nothing I see that automatically stops the Raiders from winning it. The Raiders outright crushed their in-division opponents last season, but didn't manage well outside of their division. The Chargers usually have been flaky, starting off poorly and then getting hot late. That the Chiefs and Raiders sucked then helped the Chargers, but now, they don't have such soft competition anymore.

While they have lost Nnamdi, their offense is young and bound to improve this season. DMac is easily recognizeable as a monster, but I say their O is criminally underrated. Marcel Reece is NOT just a blocking FB, he can catch since he's a converted WR and his abilities were employed by Hue Jackson in a couple games last season.

Al Davis has brought in a bunch of Olinemen through the draft a FA. Unless they all are duds, their O-line is going to improve some.

I've already gone over Ford. Louis Murphy is pretty consistent.

As for the D, I will point out that a stud MLB can make up for some deficiencies, and Rolondo McClain is certainly on his merry.

And the Raiders special teams. I'd say that they'll be damn good. Rock knows how to manage return coverage and Jacoby Ford is a deadly returner. Even with Ford's injury, that team has so many athletes that getting field position shouldn't be too difficult.

The problem is, they have a QB who is a check-down king so good WRs isn't going to change his game or deep ball accuracy (or lack thereof). Also, the Raiders are notorious for finding ways of not making the playoffs which will par for the course with their new coach

One of the guys that I'm very curious to see numbers in the new rating system. Still, has to be a Bia to put all that together. For the standard QB rating you just have to enter 5 numbers. These guys at ESPN are going to, if they're lucky, enter in 20 or 30 different numbers for one rating.
