Yeah, you know your FA QBs suck when Gradkowski is the best option. |

Btw how is he higher than Rex? Grad never even plays |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
i can't get excited about free agency until the labor issue is resolved, otherwise FA talk is useless.
I really think Franchising Carlos Rogers #22 is a good move .. although he is frustrating as hell dropping balls left and right .. he is a damn good DB and the future of Rogers/Hall/Landry .. throwing in a little Kevin Barnes .. is bright .. don't let Carlos go, mark my words wherever he goes he will be a Pro Bowl DB
I agree except on the "he'll be a pro bowler" bit. I like him a lot more than everybody else does but he'll never be a Pro Bowler unless he learns how to catch. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I can't imagine that either Rex Grossman or Bruce Gradkowski is one of the ten best quarterbacks with expiring contracts. There's a lot of better players out there.

You must mean he'll be buying a ticket to Hawaii to attend the Pro Bowl, right? He's barely average. If we franchise him that would be dumber than Haynesworthless. |

Is Oak's Nhamdi off the market? Wouldn't he be worth the same money and pairing him with Hall? But speaking of brickhands Los Rogers... He has been durable and is tackle capable, I really want him to make finally have luck make up with him- top CB in college and utter shame for hands in NFL, still he is Skins player and would like him back.
Yeah Barber looks done and I think Choice is a solid player, can Felix carry the load? I dont think so. I heard they will pursue Michael Bush also.. This was on ESPN Dallas

I would have liked Rice
Rice was top choice IMO. There are other FA out there for less.
Do we even have anyone who is worth considering using a franchise or transition tag on?
No, sadly it seems we just sign FA contracts worth in the same ballpark without the talent to show for it. |

I guess VJAX just want's out once and for all
LOL, he's got to be PISSSSSED! All he wanted was a contract that payed him for his worth like the other 4 players who held out last year but hey refused to do it. Now they franchise him? Is he going to get top 5 pay? If so he can't complain but if not he's got to be livid figuring he would be a FA this year and free to go anywhere else. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
The tags could mean nothing in 2 weeks

A.J. Smith is one vindictive bastard. The environment of unease and mistrust that he has fostered out in San Diego has got to be one of the major reasons why the Charges can't get it done. They have all the talent a team could wish for but petty stuff like this keeps biting in their collective arses. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Maybe he should just pull a Haynesworth and punch someone in the face to try and get cut by the Chargers.

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I think Davis is just the NFL Owner version of a troll. No longer has a desire to win so he decides to skew the payscale for certain positions. He was probably watching the Revis saga last year with a bowl of popcorn and a coke laughing his but off.

Well fellow skins fans, if cromartie hits the market would you consider making a push for him over Rogers? If the $ was right I would

I take Carlos over Cromartie.

Cromartie brings a lot baggage, and not just for his Brady Bunch family. Honestly I would keep Rogers over him.

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I seem to recall that if a team placed the franchise tag on a player, there was a potential situation in which said team would not be able to use the franchise tag again until the franchised player's "new" contract expired. I really can't remember the details, but it seems to me that if you franchise a player and then sign him to a contract, you can't use the tag on another player until said contract expired. I may be totally off base with this, but I can't remember. Getting old sucks lol...

The way it worked (as far as I recall) is that they have a deadline to get a long term deal done by, which the franchise tag could be used again next year. If they work out a long term deal after that deadline, the franchise tag would apply to the length of the contract. Most teams that don't get the deal done by that deadline, just have him sign the one year contract and get the deal done after the following season or use the franchise tag again. This is my recollection on how it works. |

Before this year, I'd take a chance on Cromartie. However, this year, the guy went bat crazy like Mariah Carey on us.
Good player. Just stay away though. |
