I just think most people want a "real" number 1. Moss and Armstrong are both very good role players at this point. A strong # 1 (I am thinking of Calvin Johnson, VJax, SRice type player) would make a strong WR corps, consisting of new #1, Moss, Armstrong, and Banks, with Austin in reserves.
True but when I think of priorities with this team, upgrading the interior of the line, getting our qb of the future, and fixing the defense would all come before getting an elite wideout. Santana is not necessarily elite anymore but he is still a very dependable wideout. I haven't seen him drop many of those wide open passes like he had on Sunday over the years.

Armstrong caught a couple of shorter crossing routes on sunday. That was good to see as he hasn't gotten involved in the mid range passing game as much. Maybe Rex will get him more opportunities.

I would try for an elite wideout in FA not the draft. Heck maybe Kelly with a full year of rehab and strengthening can come in and be "the guy". I agree that we have a lot of priorities, glad I'm not the one deciding where to start.

If there is an elite wideout in FA I'd look into it, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war if there was a lot of other suitors. I too want to see what we have with Kelly, I just feel like there's a lot of unknowns at the position right now with Kelly, Austin, and Banks. People talk a lot about putting Banks in more of a playmaking role on offense, but what if the staff already tried that and determined his route running or hands needs a lot of work? People tend to forget the coaches spend all of their time working with the players, whether it be on the field, or in the film room. Maybe he hasn't been consistent enough in practice to warrant getting more pt on offense.

Whenever anyone says AA I think of a "safety" we had. Wonder what he is up to nowadays, besides training.

And I disagree with WilbersHomie, the best dougie was by D. Stanton

It's nice to have a new 'AA', the old one was leading many of us to AA.

Probably sitting there wondering how to spend all that money he made off the Skins for one season.

Who woulda thunk it. Thomas and Kelly were suppose to be the breakout stars this year. Great find, good coaching as well. If we extend Moss and add someone like Vincent Jackson all of sudden our top recieving is pretty dangerous.

It's always hilarious when people jump all over PS moves.

I find it funny that those who were putting down Armstrong at the start of this thread are no where to be found now. The man has really stepped up. We found a good deep threat for the next 4-6 years. Props to AA for being the bright spot on the shaky offense.

Yeah, but Armstrong didn't throw for a TD! :benched:

And he never returned a punt for a touchdown in 4 seasons as a punt returner like Randle El did!

I see the old AA here in Scottsdale at the dog park all the time ... i just wanna spit in his face but he's huge and hot a smoking hot ass wife .. so i just watch in amazement as he takes his little dogs into his bentley and bounces out into AZ ... always looks like he just got off the golf course .... gotta admit, i'm jealous

Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'

The Anthony Armstrong conundrum is that if Vinny was still here working for Shanahan, there's absolutely no way we wouldn't have traded for Vincent Jackson to block Armstrong.

I still want Jackson here next year, but I want him here instead of Moss, not Armstrong. That's two vertical receivers, allowing us to go get pretty much anyone to play the slot. Or, you know, one of those tight ends we keep hearing about.

What if Moss plays the slot?

Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
What if Moss plays the slot?
We'd have to extend his contract, and I just don't think it's worth the trouble. If Fred Davis were to receive every one of Moss' targets from this year, we'd be a better, more diverse offense for it.

He'd fit the position well though, and I'd like to keep our options open. I'm not anti-Moss, or against bringing him back. But with his contract expiring, now seems like the best time to end the Moss era. Or at least the most logical.

Who knows, if he catches that ball against Dallas and goes the distance, I might be preaching something completely different. He drops it, and he just looks the part of a classic underachiever. That's not particularly good analysis, but with Moss, it was hardly unexpected.

if Moss leaves,Armstrong will be the #1 WR going into the 2011 training camp.:argue:

I think Armstrong has quietly become our best route runner. Clearly Armstrong has the heart and the talent.

If Miles Austin can do it I don't why Armstrong can't. Let's get it!
