Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
If you thought last week was a trap game, oh boy. This is a lose-lose for the Redskins. Blow out, and it'll be where has that offense been? Close win or close loss, and it'll be more scrutiny about playcalling and player execution. Blow out loss, and it'll be Detroit's streak was to end somehow, and Zorn will be hung in effigy in front of Redskins Park when the team bus rolls back from Dulles last Sunday night.
Unless Zorn lets Campbell loose, the defense and Suisham will carry the Skins once again. Skins 19 Lions 9 |
Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
Defense continues to scheme better, CB play improves, Stafford makes mistakes due to DL pressure. Offense continues solid production between the 20s and addresses the RZ issues. More Leads/ISO in the run game, fades in the RZ.

Skins 17 This team has MAJOR issues that need to be fixed. The schedule makers blessed us. Hopefully Zorn can figure it out. If this team has any balls they'll respond in a big way offensively, unfortunately, Ive lost hope that our offense can grow a pair. |

Let's hope it's not 8TDs allowed in 3 games. After all, we don't throw TDs... this year or last. |

Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
I usually dont make predictions and I wont again. I am worried about the game.
DET is not as bad as we think. Their special teams are good and D is ok. C.Johnson is a beast and we cant get him going. They also put up more points than we tend to. I am hoping they dont get their offense going and we get some picks. |

Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
The water mark for the Redskins is 21 points. If the Skins score more than 21 points, chances are they win. If they score less than 21 points, most likely it's a lost. Red Zone offense is still a work in progress.

posted this on a different thread but it applies here...
this is exactly it- its virtually a lose lose situation...yet the skins organization put themselves in this position. They price, market and sell themselves as an ELITE team with ELITE talent. Why is it unreasonable for us (as fans) to expect to see elite results? For over a decade now, they've paraded mediocre team after mediocre team in front of us all while trumpeting the same song and dance "we have the talent! we just need to execute!" When is enough, enough? when will it be acceptable for fans to demand progress? Do you get what I'm saying? Its not that we aren't patient, its just that after a decade of treading water, we are tired- how long before we drown? |

They are a young team. One of these days, they'll wake up and be a much improved team. If they are similar to the Falcons, that could be this week. If they are more like the Chiefs, then that will be next year. |

Draft horrible players and then go "hey, we're a horrible team, come cheer us on" I don't think anyone has ever pegged us as "elite". Fans or otherwise. We have the potential to be good as soon as we work out the kinks in the system. How long will that take? Well. 18 years apparently. I think everyone is frustrated and wants to win. Including the players. |

The entire team boasts about how great they are talent wise...do i expect them to say they suck? no, but I don't expect them to talk like prize fighters either. I think the rebellion in the stands is simply a pot boiling over...the average fan has packed away so much resentment (at the high prices, poor signings, lack of wins, changing of coaches and players) that it just spilled over in the form of unrelenting boos. |

In no category does Detroit compare favorably. We shoud win this game. I am thinking 27-9. |
Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
It's not always a bad idea to pick the inferior team to win a specific ball game, but as far as I can tell, the whole argument for the Lions winning this game is:
1) The Lions have to win sometime and 2) There's a lot of pressure on the Redskins And, um, those are both horrible reasons to pick the Lions. Dan LeBatard made the best argument yesterday on PTI when he said that bad teams beat less bad teams all the time. But if that's the best your going to do when picking the Lions to win, might as well admit that you are picking with your heart. |
Re: Time to move the F on, let's talk about the Lions
If we play flat in this game something is wrong.
I would really like for us to open a Costco sized can on the Lions. We could all use a "rainbows and unicorns" type of week around here. |
If we play flat in this game something is wrong.
I would really like for us to open a Costco sized can on the Lions. We could all use a "rainbows and unicorns" type of week around here.
Here's the deal. In many respects we went off on the Rams. The defense only had two bad plays the whole game, and forced two (one that counted) turnover(s). Marc Bulger never got his feet set all game. Stephen Jackson was held mostly in check. Donnie Avery, their stud WR in development, was a complete non-factor. Randy McMichael did more in that game. And Jason Campbell torched the Rams secondary on third down all day long. He was probably one big play away from putting the entire league on notice. And, we spent the whole week focusing on the 9 red zone plays that prevented us from getting a touchdown. 67 offensive plays, and we chose to focus on the 9 or 10 that prevented us from getting TDs. All because we're trying to find an answer to the question, "what's wrong with the (1-1) Redskins?" and "Why can't we get into the end zone against the Rams? It's the Rams for crying out loud!" We will win this week, but some things will go wrong. And there probably will not be a 40 point explosion. We might get 30, maybe. If we commit no turnovers, we probably score on 6 drives. We will probably score between 24 and 30 points. And for those who want to focus on what is still ailing the Redskins offense that we can't score 40 points against the worst defense ever, well, there will probably be mistakes made in a 60 minute game. But we will be 2-1, and I feel that this win will be particularly convincing. |
