Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
If were picking up good players,
Marcus Freeman LB Cedric Peerman RB..did great for the Ravens in Preseason Andrew Crummey G..He was on our PS last yr Ian Johnsoon RB..put on a good show for the Vikes, had no shot!! a numbers game |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
His numbers were down last season, but the same thing happened to Springs when he was injured. I don't think Williams is done, I just think the Jaguars mishandled him by making him play both corner and safety last year.
Could be. When the Jags signed him he was quite fine corner. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I'll say it again Matt Bryant was cut by the Buc's, and he's a great kicker. Also I'll take Levi Jones or Tony Pasho's over dAnthony batiste, mike williams, chad rinehart, and maybe even stephon heyer anyday.
He has been hurt all preseason with a hamstring injury and has not been able to kick. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
NFL Network is having a special "cuts" show at 7 PM ET tonight, right before the Redskins-Jags replay.
I'll have to tune in for the replay of the 'cuts' show... |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Id take Ian Johnson

Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I don't know this for certain but they say that Williams has lost a step or two or three.
Which comes to a grand total of = 3 steps ahead of Tryon/Barnes/Westbrook, lol. |

Over who? |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I think that the Redskins should take a look at Brian Williams

Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I can't see us picking up any other wideouts. We should be set there.
Secondary, O-line maybe -- but really, it's hard to imagine that other teams' castoffs will be any help to us. |

No, no -- I was commenting in general. I agree that Williams has to be better than Tryon, Westbrook, and Barnes. Hell, he might even be better than Smoot. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I agree Beemnseven, players get cut for a reason. I think we're set. Could we add a corner here or a lineman there. Maybe. And we still might before the season begins. But if we release one guy, how long does it take the other guy to get up to speed?

Wow, anybody see this?
Patriots deal DL Richard Seymour to the Raiders for 2011 1st round pick. Sources: New England Patriots deal Richard Seymour to Oakland Raiders - ESPN |

Unbelievable. They trade a 29 year old soon to be 30, 8 year vet for a first round pick. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
And it is a pick in 2011, not 2010. Hmm....

Not just first round pick, its the Raiders, so its gonna be top 10 pick for sure. |

You know Seymour went kicking and screaming no one want's to play for the Raiders just ask Hall. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
I would of gave them Wynn for a 3rd.

Yeah, how about waking up to that news? From Super Bowl contender to Oakland? Would have loved to see Seymour's reaction. Priceless. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Tony Pashos was released. again, the question is can we afford any of these guys?
I think this guy is someone who we should take a good look at... We need help at right tackle...He won't start, not right away anyway but for depth. Better player right now than Mike Williams! |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Bryant did make a 63 yard field goal to win a game, and it was against the Eagles. If he's over this injury we should definitely bring him in for a look.

Bryant is more accurate short-range than Swishy, perhaps. But he is only 2-10 for his career over 50 yards, so he would not improve our long-range kicking game. Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Well the good news is after he sandbags in Oakland we can get him cheap. :)

That was in 2006, since then he's 0-6 on FG's over 50 and he's also gone downhill in the 40-49 range. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Lets Just put Suisham on the friggin leg press machine and make him kick like 1000 soccer balls every day. That'll add some distance to pretty boys leg. Frickin Suisham, I cant believe that at that crucial of a position, we could not find an upgrade this offseason. Shoot, we gave a half assed effort to even LOOK for one. Stupid Front Office and Zorn. STUPID.......
WE NEED A CONSISTENT KICKER. NOT SUISHAM, NO MATTER HOW MANY GUYS ON THE ROSTER ARE HIS BUDDIES. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
You can't upgrade EVERY single position in the off-season. I think ST's got their upgrade with Hunter, and assuming he pans out, then next off-season we will make an attempt to upgrade the kicker. Stupid CBA and Salary Cap. STUPID...
Besides, before we need a kicker we need to get it into FG range, and now that we don't have Colt or Chase, I have no idea how that will ever happen. |
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
BAH, there are still better kickers available out in free agency right now, shoot, we could even look at other teams scraps and pick one up that is younger than Suisham and more accurate. Enough of this bottom 5 in the League crap. A good kicker can make the difference in 4 or 5 games a year.......and thats a bunch of games to lose with Suisham......
|
Re: Other Teams Cuts to 53
Other than M Bryant, who has injury issues, but might be worth a look, who else would you bring in?
|

For those who think that the Pats are flawless judges of talent:
In March they acquired Greg Lewis for a 5th round pick in a trade with the Iggles. Today Lewis was cut. AFC East - ESPN |

They are flawless!! (sarcasm). I honestly believe Belichick has untouchable status in New England. And well that's what 3 Superbowls will do. He could sign a guy off the street and no one in Boston would say a thing and the sports media would praise him for doing so. |
