Re: Favre a free agent
The clause was that if the Jets traded Favre to anyone in the NFC North, the Jets would owe the Pack 3 #1 picks.
But, as stated above, he's now free, the Jets are not trading him, so all bets are off on that. |
Re: Favre a free agent
Thankfully he's not going to come back.. I got so tired of the will he/won't he garbage last year..
|
Re: Favre a free agent
If I was Brett I would be having so much fun right now. I would get on a plane and go to Minnesota, maybe sit in on a practice or two. Then maybe catch the red-eye to Miami and eat at the most expensive restaurant that is closest to the practice facility. I would maybe finish up my week in Dallas, hit up Houston, then spend the next entire week in Oakland (can you IMAGINE the hysteria with Al Davis clearly not with it). I would then head back to Mississippi, fine tune my lawn mower, and start fielding offers for my tell-all book deal.
Farve would be a good QB coach, we could use one and take that responsiblity away from Zorn so he can concentrate on scoring points with this offense. Zorns main excuse is "he's working with the QB's". Zorn needs to focus on the offense as a whole. I dont think he can.
Possibly the most ridiculous thing I've read on the warpath this offseason, and that's saying something. Fav-ruh is the last person you want teaching any young qb. He never played "within" a system his entire career. It was always bombs away as soon as he got bored/was behind. Most of the time it worked out for him, but that's not exactly a skill you can teach... |

Don't forget his frequent underhanded passes. |
ESPN radio claims to have some Favre..........sightings leaving for and returning the Minneapolis area.........
I'd love to see him play in Minnesota. I wanted that to happen last year because they are so QB deficient. That storyline is good too having him go to one of GB's archrivals. I like it. |
Re: Favre a free agent
If favre went to the vikings already reserve the ticket for the big game for them. Minnesota is a solid qb away from dynasty.

Dude...Dynasty????? Do you understand what Dynasty means? Cause Favre can not be part of any Dynasty at his age, even if you are right that they are that 1 player away (they are not). |
Re: Favre a free agent
Im ready for Farve to just go away and retire. That said, he would make the Vikings a favorite in the NFC. If my boy Harvin can keep his act together, they can be very dangerous with the right QB. Not a dynasty though because Farve is just about done....

Why not come back? He only "tainted" his legacy in our eyes, and it's only temporary. After he makes the hall we will remember all the good, not the Jets season. So why not come back...not like he can fall any farther. |

Yes he wins this year and with the progression of Sage or Tarvis if not going into the draft next year they can be on there way. It takes just one to get the ball rolling ask New England. |

I don't see either Sage or Tarvaris progressing much beyond where they are now. |
Re: Favre a free agent
A Quarterback wouldn't even make Minnesota a respectable offense. I mean, they don't have any sort of semblance of a passing game as is, and their running game isn't even dependable. They get the explosive play every now and again, but they need to upgrade at three or more positions to have even an average offense.
|
Re: Favre a free agent
All I'm saying is that they're 1 good qb away from pay dirt

completely agree. Sure Favre would be an upgrade, but that just speaks to what junk they have behind the center right now than it does Favre's talent level. They need to make a splash in the FA market next year for a talented QB, or make a trade (maybe their #1 and #3) for a talented QB. Time to STOP accepting mediocrity. To their credit, they have gotten 2 games better every year since 06. (6, 8, 10 wins last year) But what have they done to make themselves a contender? If A.P. goes down, they are done. |
Re: Favre a free agent
Favre was a good upgrade for Minny 2 or 3 years ago, not now. I don't know why Minnesota continues to go for these mediocre at best QBs. They are wasting away their top defense and A.P.

You could say the same about us. We had a better ranked D (4th) than Minn. (6th). |

dynasy?? i don't think so. he improves their team but lets not go over board. farve is a turnover machine and cost gb a chance to go to the sb with a horrible int in the champoinship game a few years ago, and he threw away the jets hopes last year. minn should give booty a chance. |

No his injury and over dedication to the game plus bad play calling cost jets the season. prior the interception he was having the best season of his career and if it was for Tom Brady Randy Moss connection he wouldve been MVP.. |

Didn't Minnesota do that when Smoot and Culpepper were there?? seems like it didn't work out too well |

Re: Favre a free agent
I'm all about Jason Campbell as our QB. If Snyder offers Favre a contract after pursuing Cutler then Sanchez, then he might as well just cut Campbell loose. I really hope that Campbell has a monster year, then plays some serious hardball with Snyder when it comes to a new contract.

Worked out pretty well for Smoot. He's a Redskin now. :) |

I hope he has a great year too...but playing serious hardball with Snyder will not work in our benefit. We do not want to over pay for anyone. You are indirectly implying that Snyder deserves disrespect, and Campbell didn't deserve to be on the trading block...but fact is, while I am a Campbell fan, the way he ended last season invited all this talk. You can't blame Snyder for wanting better at the most important position on the field. At least Snyder understands the importance of the QB position. That being said, I fully expect a great season from Campbell, if not, I will be calling for his head come seasons end. No more excuses. |
Are you John Madden with a man crush on Favre?
That's not the Favre that I saw last year.
So you're telling me that Eric Manidiots approach of abandoning a running game that was fierce to go all run and gun half way through the season was bad. Favre did hit a wall yes but Favre up to week 10 was a great choice in coming back and the Thompson looked like an idiot for letting him go. for him to get started in pre-season basically without real condition what do you expect? |

He had some god awful decision making down the stretch. Blaming it on an injury is weak. Some of his picks were laughably bad. You said Mangini abonded the run down the stretch?? Didn't Thomas Jones lead the AFC in rushing?? Your sentence about Brady/Moss makes zero sense. |

^^ John's eating a turkey leg somewhere looking at Minnesota's schedule.

Re: Favre a free agent
Favre's shoulder is gone and is preventing him from being like he used to.
But Favre at 60% is better than Sage and Tarvaris at 100%. I think it's a perfect move for Favre and the Vikings. I love how Favre just wants to stick it to the Packers and that will make for great games even if he doesn't do that well. I'm not in love with Favre I just want to see some good football action since I'm an impartial spectator. |
