Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
All of these signings are great but the question is can JC step up and lead this team to the playoffs and maybe more.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
All we can do is give JC the protection he needs and see if he can produce for us under those circumstances. For all our sakes, I hope he does.

That's the plan. I guess we'll find out. |

I think we can start that discussion once we have a more complete picture of what our team is going to be like. Dock is just one addition to the offensive line, and I do hope we can make another FA addition or dedicate a lot of our draft picks (2 of them?) to offensive lineman. While Dock has brought some improvement to the line, we still have the RT position to address. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I'm happy we got Dock, and I do hope we can get Willis, he can add depth to the tackle position. I wonder what direction the team will take now that we have added free agents to both lines...do we go for a stud offensive lineman or a linebacker at #13?
Good question. I think that we should go for a LB in James Laurinaitis or get a DE/LB in Brian Orakpo. We could use someone to upgrade the position that was left vacant when we cut Marcus Washington and we could also use another DE to take to spot of Demetric Evans as a backup DE. I wouldn't mind going OL and get Andre Smith either. We're sitting in a real good position as far as the draft goes. It'll be interesting to see what the FO does. It feels so good to be able to draft on wants instead of needs since we already filled MOST of our needs via free agency. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Been down this road before, hopefully it turns out better this time. I like the signing of DD, the other 2 not so sure of to me they both have huge attitude/integrity issues, but I still hold out hope...Tired of being #1 in Feb/March and being at the best mediocre during the season and especially the playoffs....

Well hopefully the team can show you results, but that will have to wait until September (damn that seems far away). |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Well, we are going to need a very stout OL cause the Giants are going to sign Boley, possibly Canty and Rocky Bernard (according to Shefter). They already have Tuck, Kiwanuka, Umenyiora, Robbins, Cofield, etc. The NFC East is going to get very interesting.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I welcome him back with open arms. He still has to perform though. I mean, with all the festivities going I want to know if his level of play has dropped off.
I get all the fuzzy worm feelings about Dock but him coming back isn't as exciting as getting AH. Also, you don't get credit for not wanting to play in Detroit. More money for more misery? Who wouldn't jump at such a deal? |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Jason Brown just signed with the Rams.

In defense of the FO and our off-season thus far 1) all three signings have gotten us younger, even significantly younger, at those positions 2) two of the three signings have been in terms of trench talent where we needed talent most 3) we have not and will not give up a single draft pick in the process, current year or future draft. I know it's February. I know there's been nearly two decades now of disappointment. But we should give props where props are due and the FO has gotten smarter. ... at the very least, regardless of our record, our defense will be fun to watch this year i believe and it's looking more like we'll see Portis/Betts/Rookie(?) actually have some room to run. |

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
If possible I just one more lineman. It's ironic to because with Dockery we're ironically replacing our best lineman from last year in Kendall. What we need now is a Right Tackle, weather it be through the draft or preferably free agency as the BPA approach would benefit us 10-fold should we shore up our last remaining need through free agency.

you can't play 14 defensive linemen at the same time though... that's going to be a rough team with how fresh those guys will be all game. I don't think ball control works as well when the DL can sub like that. |

I mean, they still have to sign Canty and Bernard, Boley is pretty much a done deal. |

I was hoping we'd check Boley out ourselves and am kinda surprised we did'nt, but I think the FO feels the draft is pretty deep at LB. |

Well then I guess we'll just have to lose those two games. Or our coaching will need to prepare better for them. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I find it odd that that Comcast didn't report the Dockery signing at 11:00 tonight.

I think it's some sort of football karma because Buffalo was mental when they gave Dock that absurd contract and then they were out to lunch again when they almost traded him to Detroit for a pick, but didn't get the paperwork in on time? |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Sounds like Danny Boy is really making an effort to build from the inside out...rather than previous years of giving big money to skill players, I think he's learned from his mistakes..Nice Job Snyder

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
but why did the bills cut him?
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is how I feel....
I am hesitant on Deangelo Hall getting a bunch of cash and cutting Springs to make it happen considering Springs is better than Hall. Yes, its true, Springs is old and misses some games, but it would have been nice to trade him for a 5th rounder or something. Regarding AH...like the guy...but that money is insane...I just dont like the message it sends...it also could cause issues with his teammates with expectations being insane and impossible to fullfill. Regarding Dockery...I think fitting this move in made the other moves more palatable. Certainly it is the best in terms of value...keep in mind Dockery could be good, but no better....but he's a guard and thats fine...I do like kendall...I'd love to keep him around if possible....but if I had my choice to keep one of Springs, Kendall or Phillip Daniels, I'd rank them this way...Springs, Daniels, Kendall. I am happy about Dock...we know his weaknesses, because he's played on our team...we don't know as much about D Hall, and we know far less about AH. Dock is by far the lowest risk situation. I would be shocked if the Skins got another starter in Free Agency....but if Schneed says its possible...I will certainly believe him. |

Elfin reports that Vinny is done...

That lineman was Dockery...so much for wanting a Center or Tackle too. We cant get greedy! |

Weather it be through a trade down or otherwise. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Now this move makes all the sense in the world. I still think we need to gain some more depth on the line but this is a move in the right direction. Welcome back Dock.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
its all about the lineman. thank god the skins are finally starting to realize this. good move

Nice move, we've been pretty lucky. First D. Hall is surprisingly cut and a few months later Dockery.

My understanding is the o-line coach didn't think Dock was a good fit for the blocking scheme they ran and he had a big contract. Fortunately for us, he knows our schemes and fits in well here. |
