New link talking about Darrel Jackson:http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers/ci_8592220, it mentions he was among the NFC's leaders in drop, I didn't know that.
Jackson is 29, which isn't old at that position. He missed one game last year. He caught passes from four different QB's last year, in a new offense, which likely didn't help his numbers. While 2007 was a statistical disappointment, he's not a stiff.

Jackson was scheduled to make $3.8 million in base salary plus $200,000 in bonus. His contract called for a $4.5 million base salary in 2009. He would have been playing in his third offense in as many years. That's reason enough to see him go from San Francisco.

Coming off a disappointing year, he could be a bargain player. That's why he's worth exploring if you're the Redskins, and that's why he's worth discussing here.
My bad, I didn't know how old he was, I know he had been around.

Im not positive...but I recall, the niners traded for him for a 4th round pick and are still cutting him....that says something may be wrong with the dude
Lloyd anyone?

How did you not know how old he was? I just said it, and you quoted my post. He will be 30 in December.

For those that like Jackson, he's not worth it. He drops way too many, and if we recall, a lot of us were ready to string Moss up by his toenails for his drops. Many said he single handedly lost us the GB game with his drops...so why go after a guy with brick hands?
Again, I will say, (and agree with some here) that we need a big WR. Jackson being barely 6'0" and only 201 lbs, is not big. He is useless to us.
Lets say Jordy Nelson drops to us in the third round, do you pick him or pass?
We'd better run to the freakin podium! But he prob'ly won't be there in the third

I saw Jackson play some last season with the Niners, he looked like Rod Gardner most of the time (couldn't catch)

C'mon people. Jackson is being released by the worst offense in the NFL. Why would we want this guy? All he does is drop passes. And I don't care if he knows the offense. At some point every NFL WR probably knows some version of the WC offense.

Because he was released by the worst offense in the league. Jackson came from a team that struggled at the QB position last year. Hell, even Randy Moss struggled without a decent QB to get him the ball. And it's not like we're going to give the guy 100's of millions of thousands of dollars. The guy will help shore up our receiving core and allow us to use the draft to take care of more pressing needs, though I would love to see the team trade down with a team like the Falcons and have three second round picks.

yeah butthis guy isnt any bigger than reche caldwell?? The only way I would sign this guy is if Reche doesnt come back I doubt he will even be able to stay healthy though.

If Jackson is our best option I'd just stick with what we've got and look to the draft. Seems like we're headed that way anyway barring some sort of mega deal for someone like Chad Johnson.

You know what that makes me think that maybe we should just stick with the guys we have and follow the Chargers Offensive model. I mean we got a good young Quarterback, a pair of 1337 running backs, a very good offensive line (though I would like to see us build for the future through the draft), and a group of Recievers thats just as good if not better then the Chargers. And to top that off we have a very good offensive mind as our head coach, though I hope he'll be better then Norv.

Ironically though our third Running Back is a very good kick returner. Of course Darren Sproles is there second running back for now, or at least thats what I think he would be.

Old thread here, but didn't want to start a new one on this.

Anyhow, Jackson could be headed to the Broncos

I don't see why the skins didn't at least make him a modest offer. Just as insurance in case they are not able to land the WR they want in the draft.
