Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
we will get every single person on this list!
why not? |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
The problem with Freeney as was pointed out in an article I read today was that the Colts do not require their DE's to play the run...they turn them loose on the QB every play. The skins defense system requires DE's to play the run first. We have no idea if Freeney can play the run for one since he doesn't do it...and if he is playing the run will we get the same pass rush numbers that he generates in Indy? He could be risky for the $ he is going to get.
that's why j. allen would be a much better option. He's an all around team player who has a great motor and plays with a lot of emotion. I really think he fits the type of character Gibbs wants on this team. |

Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Spend whatever money it takes to bring in a kicker! Then we find a fair priced solid cb and lb. oh yeah and a dt and a ol.

OL?? I actually like our OL, it's not bad at all. When healthy they are not bad at all. Our LB's certainly suck this year. Are we actually going to groom MacIntosh? Kicker and CB's, everything else is fluff. |

Can anyone answer why this has not happened yet? Is he not liked by the coaching staff? I mean, we benched Brunell, why not leave Rocky out there and let him learn the ropes? |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
I know we have needs but jiminy christmas please don't spend draft picks to get them. Adalius Thomas is so verstile but he's looking for a huge contract and turns 30 next year.
Whatever its irrelevant we shouldn't continue to suclkle the free agency teet it only builds false hope. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
jared allen and the corner from the patriots would be a nice addition, i hope we draft that kicker from colorado in the later rounds he hit like a 65 yard fg a few weeks and ago and he is supposed to be the best kicking prospect in the last 10 years

Those are the two players that I wanted to get in FA, but we cant draft the kicker unless we trade picks, he'll prolly go in the 3rd, who knows, maybe even in the 2nd. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Isn't Jared Allen an RFA though? That would mean more draft picks. I'd rather go after a Justin Smith or Rod Coleman. They're older than Allen but all you have to do is pay them some money.
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Rod Coleman would be a great pickup.
Keep Vincent, Prieleau (SP?) Taylor, Fox, Springs, Rogers, FA corner. Draft a stud or sign a FA Middle LB. This defense would do a complete 180 next year. I looked at the cap sheet. They have a ton of space if they want it. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Just a suspicion but i gotta believe Gibbs might consider bringing in a FA qb at the end of the season. This of course depends if JC shows some real promise. If anyone read the article from Boswell this morning Gibbs is obsessed w/ winning here. He'll do anything. I wouldn't be suprised if he takes over the playcalling again and tinkers w/ the defensive staff. He may even consider bringing in a GM. I just get the feeling if given the chance he might pull the trigger. We'll see. Let's hope JC continues to improve for the rest of the season.

Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Skins should look into a fa linebacker and either keep Dockery or grab a guard. Then, they need to DRAFT people. I think Briggs or Fletcher would be nice, but I doubt Briggs is gonna be available. I think the Bears might suck it up and pay him, but they might let him go just like they did with Colvin.
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
The word is the Bears won't be able to afford to keep Briggs. He would be a great pickup. I think we definitely need to go after a veteran playmaking LB.
I'd go after Justin Smith too. He's a well rounded DE and a high character guy. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
sign nobody - the come here and suck anyway.

Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
i would like for washington to ao after Asante Samuels
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
LB - Kurt Goveia
DE - Charles Mann CB - Darrell Green Kicker - Chip Lohmiller Wait...this isn't 1987? Doh!!!! |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Whoever we get, I think that most of us agree that the most important thing is to generate a consistant pass rush from our front four - if we do this the rest will fall into place.
We also need solid depth at CB, tho. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Hollis Thomas, UFA, New Orleans Saints
Nate Clements, UFA, Buffalo Bills Asante Samuel, UFA New England Patriots Ken Hamlin, UFA, Seattle Seahawks Michael Lewis, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles Derrick Dockery, UFA, Washington Redskins these are all guys we should consider. 2 corners from that list TOPS. maybe lewis but hes not the best in coverage, could be had for fairly cheap since he fell out with the eagles, dockery is a must re-sign for us. hollis thomas is a great run stopper that would really help our defense and probably would be fairly cheap considering his age. he should atleast be considered. i think Daniels will be ok for this year with some DT help. if we used branch (draft) and hollis thomas inside 1st and 2nd downs and use griffen in pass rushing plays our DE's would do a lot better, as well as our linebackers because they will be protected |

Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Seneca Wallace would be an excellent pickup, if cheap.
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
I wonder what kind of money Jared Allen or Justin Smith would demand.
I wonder what kind of money Jared Allen or Justin Smith would demand.
i think jared allen is a RFA, and he will probably be tendered to require us to give up a 1st round pick to get him. not worth it IMO if that indeed happens. justin smith would be interesting to see, but id think he would demand a sizeable contract |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Chris Simms is no longer on the market. QB pickins are pretty slim, but Plummer and Leftwich are available by trade.
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
I wonder what kind of money Jared Allen or Justin Smith would demand.
I haven't watced Smith as much, but Allen seems weak vs. the run. I don't want us to sign another pass rush specialist since we already have one - AC. I haven't seen Jamaal Anderson from Arkansas, but the word on him is he's an every down guy, goes about 6'6, 270. Some day our Charles Mann will come.... |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Nate Clements, UFA, Buffalo Bills
Asante Samuel, UFA New England Patriots i'd love to see the redskins get both these guys, but can they afford that?senneca wallace started his career in redskins training camp did'nt he? |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
signing two #1 CBs is a bad idea, since the skins overpay everyone anyways. clements or samuels wouldn't be bad though... but i think we really need to draft our DL this time around. allen will cost too much for the short term increase in performance over who we have.
crosby (the kicker) is going in the 2nd or early 3rd, where we don't have a pick, so you can forget about getting him. at punter, brandon fields might be available very late though (super super strong leg). besides depth, only a CB and LB really seem to make sense, since we're going to need cap room moving forward to toss our bad contracts with. |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
What about going after DE Charles Grant of the Saints - I though he was a free agent this offseason? Does anyone know if the Saints are going to place the transition/franchise tag on Grant?
|
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
Speaking of LB, more and more people are talking about Patrick Willis and most seem to think he'll be available in the later first round. If we're going to trade down, that's where I want someone.
|

DE:Carter
DT:Branch DT:Golston DE:Jared Allen (if avaialable) OLB: Adailus Thonas MLB: London Fletcher OLB: Marcus Washington CB: Nate Clemments CB: Carlos Rogers NB: Fred Smoot FS: Sean Taylor SS: Shawn Springs |
Re: Top 2007 NFL Free Agents
that's a great lineup, but we can't afford 4 top free agents with our cap situation.
