The keys to winning against Dallas is to completely reverse everything we did wrong, and bad monday night. If we don't reverse the trend, Sunday night will be long. I'm a little worried about this game because I saw some things monday night that cannot be corrected in five days espically when it come to secondary coverage, be it scheme, or personell. Dallas's receivers will pose more of a threat, and by this being a copy-cat league it dosen't take a genius to know what their game plan is going to be, espically in the passing game.
newman is horrible. he can run fast but he cant cover for shit.
TMC, not only will quick screens be there all day for the skins, it would be nice to see a pumpfake to moss on a wr screen (drawing the safety up)and then get lloyd or randle el over the top. the cowboys will be super aggressive early in this game and that could be big for us.
Trust me, after week one...Newman and Rogers are in the same boat. Hopefully, after week 2 Rogers can distance himself from this bad game.

I think we will take this game, and maybe split the one at Forskins stadium, but you guys should worry about your corners covering our receivers, if we get enough time from our O-line, this game will be a blow-out, on the other hand if we can't protect immobile Bledsoe then we are for a long night.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS

I don't think it will be a blowout by any means. I really think if anything, it'll be a shootout. If we can shut down your WRs, we can steal one just like Minnesota did with us.

I still am picking the Cowboys in this one judging by what I've seen from our secondary last week. If they step it up, I have no pick, because it'll be tight like usual.

I'm just anxious to see Taylor lining up with his favorite WR, TO. :D

the key to this game is what the redskins defense does with the cowboys porous offensive line. if we can get after the human statue( bledsoe) we will win. look what happened last season in washington

You're right, a blowout is possible. I wonder what would be a good blowout score...hmmm...How about 35-7? Man, talk about a blowout!
Not sure if I ever made an official prediction. In my gut I guess I'm expecting 10 or 11 wins. Monday didn't change my opinion either. We have some work to do but I'm not jumping off a bridge after one game.
So you never expected for the Redskins to do much more than a game or so better than last year? Now what was it exactly that made your expectations that low?

In my gut, I guess I had them even lower -- 9-7, maybe 8-8. To me, the stars would have to been near perfect alignment for 11 wins or more.

Tough division and schedule.

I can't see anybody in the East winning more than 11.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS

Whoever wins the turnover game, will win the game.
Both defenses are stingy on the run. Washington has more pure power in thier front 7, but Dallas has more speed in thier front 7.

The trenches is where the catalyst will be that causes turnovers. Whoever capitalizes, wins.

This is Dallas and Washington, and it does not matter what the records are when these two teams face off. It is a perfect example of "Any Given Sunday".

if wishes were horses then beggars would ride. The cowboys o-line is next in line besides bledsoe as being the cowboys weak link. IF is such a great word. This game is will be low scoring. I like our odds to get pressure on bledsoe early and often. Does anyone remember what TO's numbers were against us the last time he played us with philly? If i remember right they werent all that. I just want his punk ass to come across the middle and run into MR TAYLOR. and the other receiver they have terry " i have alligator arms" glenn knows better than to come across the middle. All you need to do is worry about bledsoe having enough time to pass the ball.

Just face it, if we win this game, we will DOMINATE the cumgirls this year. Nuff' said. By the way, Terry Glenn and TO are too fast for ST to cover 1 on 1, so don't go sayin' if TO beats our secondary that it's his fault. You guys may beat us this week, but when our secondary is healthy, Springs is faster than T.O., and won't be a problem.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
Carlos can not try and muscle TO at the line. No corner in the NFL can muscle him at the line. give him the 5 yards and work with him down the field. keep Taylor over the top, so when he does catch something have Taylor knock his helmet off. I would let Taylor try and send a message early to him or Glenn that they are not catching the ball around him. If it means a 15 yarder early, so be it. We need that toughness, that strut back.
This is exactly why I miss Shawn Springs. As long as he and Taylor were near T.O. (when we played the Eagles), the man wasn't very effective. They had the ability to intimidate him with ferocious hits. Hopefully, G. Williams will have something up his sleeve to contain Dallas' receivers. I'm especially worried at the prospect of a Witten-Archuleta matchup. Reminds me of Jay Novacek versus Alvin Walton. We would do best to have Marcus Washington or one of the other linebackers covering and use Archuleta to beat the stew out of Bledsoe on blitzes.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS

I believe whoever wants this game most will win it. If we're in disarray they are in no better situation at this point. We sucked in week one and guess what so did Dallas. One of these team will show they are alot better than they played last week and one wont...lets hope it's Gibbs guys who show up.

Bledsoe is a statue standing in quicksand...Brunnell is alot more mobile than he is as is Johnson...hammer Bledsoe...blitz him...dont give him enough time to look around for much of anything and we win this game. Let him stand back there and we're toast. Their O-Line isn't very good either....not anything near Minnesota's O-line IMO. If you pressure Bledsoe you can beat Dallas...if you dont he can beat you. It's kind of simple even if our secondary is banged up.

Brad Johnson and Mobile in the same sentence.

WOW.

Johnson is not mobile.

He has a World Class O line is what the deal is there.

Johnson isn't mobile, but I'd put my money on him in a race against Bledsoe.

The key to the game: Throw at anthony henry deep! Do it often. He might be the worst corner in the league at playing the ball in the air.

He does have a tendancy to look terrible for a game.

Last year your new WR Lloyd lit him up in SF, but he was solid before and after that.

Regardless, he's the weak link in the chain. If I'm going to pick a DB to throw at on the Cowboys, it's him.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS

One key is: replace Portis!

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has ruled running back Clinton Portis out for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Gibbs says Portis didn't practice today and -- quote -- "If a guy doesn't practice, he's not going to play."
Gibbs says Ladell Betts, T.J. Duckett and Rock Cartwright will be the running backs against the Cowboys.
Portis has been downgraded from questionable to doubtful on the injury report, with Gibbs citing soreness from the pounding Portis took from playing in the season opener against Minnesota on Monday night.
But the announcement by Gibbs took Portis by surprise, saying that he thought it was a game-time decision and that his "bag's packed and ready to go to Dallas."
Last week, Portis spent several days downplaying his chances to make the season opener, but rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings.
