Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
I think if it was a sugery it would be up on the site by now.
I think what may have happened is that they were discussing the injury in general and concluded that it was similiar to Hall's, which if he had sugery would take about 2-3 wks to heal. But that's a lot different from 'Shawn Springs is having sugery."
OK - HERE IS THE DEAL straight from REDSKINS.COM Ashburn, VA - Washington Redskins DB Shawn Springs underwent a medical procedure today to repair a minor tear in an abdominal muscle that attaches to the pubic bone. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers at the Durham Regional Hospital. |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
According to Redskin Radio, Springs will be out a "few weeks" and will have SURGERY to repair a groin issue regarding muscle attachment to the bone. Ouch.
Doesn't sound like a serious surgery at all. It was already done today which means he'll have plenty of time to recover!!!!! |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
Well there it is in writing as well I heard it on the new Redskins radio here in Richmond Va. and Larry Michael reported surgery, but did not know how long he would be out.
Brown, that's right. I knew one of NE's receivers did it but I couldn't remember which. I wonder if any of the Skin's WR could do that. Doubtful
I bet Randel El could. :) |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
So, skins052 did Springs have three surgeries or one?
|
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
I'm glad it's only a minor procedure and that he'll be back by the start of the regular season.

LMAO - I'm relieved. Doesn't sound too bad. He was in and out and had the procedure done today. He'll be back by game 1. He's the MAN! :) |

At least three just to make sure they got it right, he is just lucky I was not performing any of the surgeries because I had a hard enough time posting to the site with this post. |

Haha...so with the way you're doing the math, i.e. 3x. If Springs is down for 2 wks that's like 6 weeks in your world. :) |

trying to jack up his post count

The groin is the area of the body where your abdomen joins your thighs. Mild pain in this area could become a serious problem. Long- term groin pain should be medically evaluated. The groin pain can be caused by a variety of reasons. A groin strain is a stretch, tear, or complete rupture of the muscle called the adductor longus, which runs from the pubic bone to the inside of the thigh bone. Symptoms include stabbing pain, bruising, swelling, and the inability to draw your leg inward. Groin strains recur often if they never fully heal. Minor strains can be treated with rest, ice, compression, and elevation, a regimen known as RICE. More serious strains call for both RICE and medical care. Recovery time ranges from 2 to 8 weeks, depending on the severity of the injury. |

That's just it, you can't trust dmek - ever! |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
With it being so hard to find a link, it may have to do with Larry Michael pushing and marketing the radio site today hard as the place to get all the late breaking news before it is posted. I know he said that several times when talking about. He was really hyping this news as exclusive to Redskins Radio and the place to tune in to get information on the skins.

Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
What is really concerning is the recovery time. Im fine with 3-4 weeks, similar to Hall if Springs were a kicker, but wouldn't you think a corner would need more time to recover given the strain his legs are under?

ESPN.com - NFL - Redskins CB Springs out 3-4 weeks after surgery
ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins starting cornerback Shawn Springs underwent surgery to repair a minor abdominal muscle tear on Tuesday and will be sidelined three to four weeks. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers at Durham Regional Hospital. The Redskins hope that Springs will be able to return for the regular season opener on Sept. 11 against Minnesota. Washington acquired cornerback Mike Rumph from the San Francisco 49ers on Monday for wide receiver Taylor Jacobs. Springs, 31, was signed as a free agent by Washington in March 2004 after cornerback Champ Bailey was traded to Denver for running back Clinton Portis. A first-round pick in 1997, Springs played his first seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Well, at least we have a month to develop a CB. ANd we'll be watching the camp cuts, no doubt. Hope he gets back for opening night!!! |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
I saw that too and was going to post the link until I read this...

Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
not good not good not good...
key injuries thus far- Portis Clemons Springs Our corner depth is a real concern. Does Patten have any trade value? Brunell will be on that list soon I'm sure of it. |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
....and the hits just keep on coming. Hopefully he is ready for Week 1 or at least week 2.

Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
Even with Clemons out?
Well, again, I'm going back to depth we had before the draft. At that time, Clemons was healthy. To me, our linebacker situation, even after losing Arrington was more than solid with Marcus Washington, Lemar Marshall, and Clemons. Now that Clemons is out, there's still Warrick Holdman - who, according to coaches has new found focus and determination to atone for last year, Khary Campbell who's been a veteran for this team for 4 seasons, and the project, Robert McCune. With Springs' history of injuries, and with Gregg Williams dependence on capable defensive backs, I thought it would have been a better idea to go after Springs' eventual replacement in the draft. Oh well. |

There's no such thing as non-serious surgery. Even knowing that it was done right away, this has been a recurring problem with him. What kind of after-effects will he suffer from? Will he be the same cornerback when he comes back? |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
At least our players are getting hurt while playing the game. Did anyone else see the clip of DeAngelo Hall hurting his hand?
He got into a slap fight at pratice with a rookie. They both had helmets on! Hall had to miss the afternoon practice and had his hand injured. |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
And at least it's still really early. If it was the 4th week of preseason I would be shating in my pants.
We can get healthy in time for the opener. That's all that really matters. This is football. Players get hurt. As long as the O-Line is healthy I'll take are chances. |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
I think we should explore Patten in a trade for a an extra CB. Its not too late to invest now and be prepared down the stretch.
|
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
Springs won't be playing for us forever. This allows our younger guys to get more experience practising with the first team. It would be nice to have him back for the start of the season but I'd rather him be ready to go from November thru XLI.

paulskin do you accept my apology? and 12th, keep it up and ill start posting the pictures...oppps

Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
ugh this is not good, cuz like its been said ad infinitum, Springs is the real key to this defense. all those creative blitzes Williams throws won't work if the opponent WR has that first step on the corner.
why did we get rid of Walt Harris last year? Garnell Wilds? the CB situation is bad right now, even if Springs gets back in time for the opener. he's older and its a bit harder for him to recover. week 1 would definitely be rushing him, and a nagging injury all year long to an older CB equals disaster. whoever said it was right, not addressing cornerback last season was a BIG misstep. |

He was a favorite whipping boy around here, and probably deserved it. He was a good tackler, but on deep coverage, you found yourself holding your breath if the ball was thrown in his direction. We'd likely be no better with him still on the team. Garnell Wilds was unproven, and again, I don't know how much we could've depended on him either. I maintain that a cornerback as the heir apparent to Shawn Springs was a bigger need than linebacker. |
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
I really think CB will be priority #1 come this offseason. If we dont draft a couple of them, i will be suprised.
|
Re: Shawn Springs to have surgery
Man that really blows guys I0ve just read the news man your guys are dropping like flies and with freaky injuries, even though the Portis hit was great
2 starter the good sign is that both might be ready at least by the second game it's better to get an injury know than during the season even thought its way better not get 1 at all |

i cant understand it when you post like this if i posted like this it would give you a headache every time you read it stop posting like a 3 year old thank you in advance
