It's so aggravating; Reed could have been the difference maker in several of The Redskins losses. If he had been healthy Wash would have at least two more wins. :(

I think his toe injury from last year continued to be an issue this season before the current hamstring injury. It's always something with Reed.
Reed is often injured and can't stay healthy for very long. But when he's on the field his abilities rival the great HOFer Kellen Winslow Sr., who is considered the best TE to ever play the game. At this point do the Redskins really need Reed, considering we have the capable Vernon Davis?.... what would the Redskins receive in a good trade for Reed ?
His career is closer to Winslow Jr than Sr. Ability doesn’t mean crap if it doesn’t come with availability. Don’t see a team giving up more than a 3rd for him considering his contract and injury history.

I concur....Reed is like glass....he breaks a lot.... I'm sure the front office can get a second round pick for him.... there has to be at least one NFL front office imprudent enough to give that for Reed.....

When Reed is 100%, he is easily a top 3 TE in the league. FACT

Based on his contract it’s highly unlikely he’s going anywhere anytime soon.

I don't think he is worth close to a $1 million dollars a game.... 2018 contract is $10 million

Top 3 TE ? - nope - even if he is healthy

He's rarely healthy and can't block. They might as well ask him to drop 15 lbs, split him out wide and put him at wr. He can probably block corners, he can't block NFL LB's.

He doesn’t get paid to block

He does when they call a 3rd and 1 run to his side and he whiffs a LB like a bull fighter.

I don't blame him. Reed is willing but lacks the ability or lacks the ability to improve it. Jay keeps calling runs where he DOES have to make a crucial block. He is terrible.

Totally agree with the other posters in this thread. He is easily our top receiver. Just start lining him up as a receiver.

Just use him as a receiver already.

It’s the nature of the position these days, TE’s like Reed are difference makers in the pass game and you live with their limitations as an in-line blocker. Line him up outside and you’re taking away one of the big advantages he has in mainly going against LB’s and safeties.

Then as I said, put him out at Wr. As a TE you have to be able to block some and he can't. They split him out wide and away from the line anyway. A few years ago I remember a TE was arguing that since he was split out wide so much that he ought to be paid like a wr, wince his duties were mostly like the wr's. Might have been Jimmy Graham..

You said it yourself, Reid is a limited football player that needs special treatment. He is a one trick pony, situational receiver that is physically weak, injury prone and has limited toughness. As such it would not be wise fiscally to sign Reid to a big contract as your #1 TE.

Reid's future in the NFL is as a player that comes off the bench. He is not a #1 because he can not last, he is not durable enough to be a #1 TE for any team.

Reed is a matchup nightmare. I really hope we continue to sprinkle in some young talent going forward
