He deserves it. I don't think it was "late" though. It has likely been on their to-do list for a while, but if anything it was done earlier than they had planned on doing it. You don't do something like this as a PR move though, that's simply ridiculous. However, it's not out of the question to think they may have accelerated the process of getting an extension done to alleviate any concerns (both Redskins FA's and other FA's) about the head coach position.

Now let's lock up Kirk, Pierre, Vernon and shore up the D...CHAMPIONSHIP!
