Re: Request Concerning the Debate Forum
^^ You're entitled to you're opinion. Lots of the threads peter out on their own. Lots of threads in the football forum get contentious with no minds changed and then locked (Jaws QB list comes to mind).

In MY opinion, DTE has a lot of interesting discussion by intelligent people. Few people change their minds, but a lot get a better understanding of some of the issues. You don't like, don't go there. There are lots who do.
I don't normally go there and it is fine that is there I just don't want it on the front page.

And to answer the bold part; ok you are right BUT this is a football forum not a political forum with a side of football. Plus sports at times can have definitive answer (team wins or loses; player was good or bad); most of the DTE stuff is just peoples beliefs on very sensitive subjects that you will NEVER change.

The majority of heavy users on DTE are people I would avoid at say a cookout they just want argue for the sake of arguing. You are not going to change anyone's mind on religion or politics; so what is the freaking point? To hear yourself complain or somehow prove your intelligence on a subject matter? Do you suddenly think one day Saden1 will be a conservative or Giantone is going to buy a gun?

IF folks went back and looked at the time they spent in that forum exhausting their opinion and reapplied that time to something more constructive in their lives they be much better off.

For the record I am speaking in general not to you directly Joe; as I have always considered you one of my favorites on here. So basically nothing personable just my opinion about the DTE.

No idea why anybody would complain about a particular section of the forum. Simply don't visit it if it's not your cup of tea.
I don't visit for the most part I just don't want it on the front page. Nor am I saying shut it down.

That was in reference to Matty saying he got the most complaints about that forum.

Most of the complaints are from the participants.

So and so is being mean to me, so and so is using bad language, etc.

Re: Request Concerning the Debate Forum

Clearly, the solution is to simply ban "so and so" as he simply does not play well with others.

Re: Request Concerning the Debate Forum

You know the Pamplona Bull Run? They should ban the bulls, it's way too dangerous. Why can't people just run?

If you know a forum has a potential to get you butt hurt why partake? Rhetoric is all part of the fun, if people are taking it so seriously then they may want to examine their attitude to life, e.g. Bull Runs may not be for you.
Agreed, I'd rather get rid of it completely to be honest. I get more complaints about that forum than anything. I gave up playing babysitter a long time ago.
The DTE threads reminds me of the old, "Pick a fight" chatrooms on AOL; just go in there, say something you know is debatable and start swinging at everyone who disagrees.

Re: Request Concerning the Debate Forum

How about we make JR and Rat the official mods of the enemy forum?

JoeRedskin 07-26-2013 07:51 PM

Are you serious?

I'm not sure if I could be trusted with Mod power (even of a limited nature) - as for Rat ... now that's a scary thought!

Matty brings the crazy.

I'm not sure we could afford the bandwidth abuse of JR's scolding, wordy rebuttals.

JoeRedskin 07-26-2013 11:04 PM

Me? Wordy? Never!!
