Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
There was a huge difference in the 4th quarter - the huge cushion went away. Not that it helped us overall. Right now I think our secondary is just too untainted. Zone or man, well get burned either way. Rg3s gonna have to score alot of points.

Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
I'd rather have Morris as the DC than Haz. But...I don't know if I want a change right now.

Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
The Redskins were playing a soft zone, which is why Bradford was able to throw for 310 yards. This is why Danny Amendola was able to have his way against the Redskins secondary. Any NFL WR can get open between a soft zone which is why Bradford continuously looked his way.
As far as Mike Shanahan being displeased with how the defensive play calling was going, why would he hand play calling duties over to the secondary coach when the defensive coordinator knows the play calling better than the secondary coach? They are not running Morris' defense. It is Haslett's defense. Something doesn't sound right to me. This could very well be garbled rumor. |

No way this is true.
You guys know more football than I do on this site, but as I was watching the game and obviously watching the Skins play zone and "way off" receivers on the line of scrimmage, I was wondering if they could play Amendola man to man and Zone everything else. Can you do that effectively? You know, take out their best guy with our best cover guy?
you can. Philly was doing this last year depending on the match up. There is no rule saying you can't, i think it can make i more confusing for the guys on the field |
Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
Haslett has already shown he isn't able to adjust during a game. I don't know if it's his stubborness or arrogance but I really don't want to see him here next year. Not sure if Morris is the right guy but going into a game playing a soft zone against a team with no wr's, then getting burined for most of the game and doing nothing about it til the end of the game is inexcusable. To me it's a fireable offense. Ritchie Petibone would've never ever ever let that shit happen.

Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
Quick, throw some money at Tony Dungy to be the defensive coordinator. Dungy's and Shanahan's psychotic sideline stare would set this team right.

Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
Jason Reid and Grant Paulsen are both reporting there's no truth to the rumor, per several people.
Haslett's been dead man walking for a while. Not being told they were meeting with Raheem back in February (or whenever it was) should have been the only clue he needed that his time here is short. I put this on MS though. He knew what he was getting with Haz
As for this particular rumor, I don't know. I'm on vacation
Matty gives you vacation? I just thought you were still in mourning from that turrble Jets performance. Dont worry, Rex will get them back on their feet. |
Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
This article is all speculation. There has not been any indication that Morris was making the calls. The article states that players were choosing sides: What evidence is there of this? Also the article quotes Shannahan, but it is not an actual quote, it is a speculation of what Shannahan might be thinking.

Not speculation at all. ES insiders have verified that this did in fact happen, but it was supposed to stay in house. Been saying that Haslett has been on the hot seat for a while now, and that seat just got hotter. Much hotter.
Jason Reid and Grant Paulsen are both reporting there's no truth to the rumor, per several people.
Neither one of them really know shit. |

Re: Did Shanny Strip Haslett of Play Calling vs Rams?
If it's true, they just need to can Has now and move on. The team can totally survive this if they want. How many times have we seen the Giants and other teams weather internal conflicts and go on to the playoffs.
This. Haslett has never impressed, and his lack of adjustments will continually haunt this team. I'd give the reigns to Morris and see what happens for the rest of the season. |
