Scraping the barrel for Gross-man and Beck on the cheap? Sorry - not a very big investment, here.

Jay Cutler we really don't know about. He was making good progress till Mike got the boot.
It was his hip, and from what I understand, that type of injury does not require surgery.
Ok cool, looked forward to his return.
I know, we all (no, not all of us.....some of us) busted a rib, laughing at 'The Stank' or "Stankerson" or whatever else we called him early on - including the Op (that would be me).

I dug up film of the guy though, and I cannot believe that he didn't go in the first round.

Watch the vids on this guy - he's not quite 6'2" but he plays bigger. He bulls over cb's and safeties.....fights for the ball....uses his body to shield the defender - strong, aggressive player.

Here's Hankerson (notice I'm not calling him some stupid, made-up name.....I eventually learn) at the U of Miami -

[YT]mSvCvF8seZc[/YT]

Interesting, when you look at his progress from the early days - not much separation till he learned how to properly run routes.

Check out his sick one handed nabs in this vid - un-freakin-believable! :woot:

[YT]WOotNbKUeuM&feature[/YT]

I was wrong about the guy on a lot of levels and happy stuff my face with a huge, heaping, helping of "crow à la King" or maybe "crow-helper" - depending on if it's before payday.

Here is why he'll bust lose....

1) He has the size, the speed and the talent.

2) He will have a better QB. :benched:

3) His only real action, he proved he could play - 8 catches for 104 yards.:food-smil

4) He damn well better or this thread will be bumped to poke fun at me, "the Shan-a-clan," and "tall redskin receiver man-crush guys, everywhere!!! :cheeky-sm

5) THERE IS NO NUMBER FIVE. :spank:

since we dont have the post season, no problem with creating an optimistic thread about a young up and comer.

If both Hankerson and jenkins can come back and play at a high level, our team could benefit in big ways next year. Id love to see hankerson pair up with Dwight Jones from UNC, and have Moss in the slot. That paired with a respectable quarterback could create a very dangerous offense. and with Davis at the TE, and little running reciever Helu out of the backfield??????? SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!

Thank you, I agree with your post, I think Moss is about at the end of the line, though, football wise. He did not show a lot this year.

I agree 100%! Good thread in my opinion. I think we need more discussions on recognizing and acknowledging the hard work and efforts of guys like Hankerson - who quite frankly - didn't even look like a guy that would make the practice squad. I'm sure there were more here than will admit that they soured on Hankerson pretty quickly after preseason, and were all pleasantly surprised by how much he had improved when he had finally earned his chance. That tells me that the guy put in more than his share of hard work to bounce back and give us a glimpse at what he's capable of on the field.

After having guys like Michael Westbrook, Taylor Jacobs, or Devin Thomas, I welcome the idea of propping up guys like Lenard Hankerson.
Yes and yes, that's why I'm not worried about the WR position. Add Paul and Robinson on their 2nd years and we got something.
When Paul was in there he showed nothing. Not sure what the deal is.

Wait till next year. He did not attend minicamps, short training camp. I feel good about him.

im likeing the polyswag post. Im hoping Hankerson is lined up as the number 2 reciever outside our new number 1 when the season starts. Not needing surgury for that injury is good news. Doesnt seem as serious as I thought.

Thanks for the thread-love, guys! I figured we had enough Landry threads for the year. :Flush:

Be sure to check out the vids - especially the second one. Dig the one-handed grabs!
Yea, he looked very good in practice, from what I've heard. I think his 100 yd game was indicative of his talents - as a rout runner, he is leaps and bounds beyond where DT ever was - even now.
So did Malcom Kelly...

Kelly could have made it - he almost certainly was talented enough......his knees were no good, though. He should never had been drafted in the second round.

He's got all the skills. The knock on him was the dropsies, which we saw in the pre-season, and his reluctance to go over the middle, which we also saw in the pre-season (they relentlessly ran him across the middle). He solves those problems, and he can be a heck of a player. Remember that fade route for a TD? Was that in the pre-searon or regular season? Either way, it was perfection!

One of the reasons he didn't go higher was because while he would routinely make the specatular catch, he would just as routinely drop the easy ones.
