By the way there is a serious error in my original listing at the top of this thread.

I said that Max Hall was the only undrafted free agent to start an NFL game since the 1999 draft.

That is incorrect.

Tony Romo was also an undrafted free agent who came to the Cowboys in 2003 and who has obviously started a few games in the NFL.

Mea culpa!
Our very own Shaun Hill from U of M has also started and was undrafted. He has made a good career back up

I would definitely take a shot on Kellen Moore if he's still on the board when we pick in the 5th round. My guess is that he'll be gone by then, but he definitely throws an accurate, catchable ball.

I know you were trying to prove a point, and I know there probably was a ton of QB's to use but while reading I couldn't help wondering how many QB's were actually drafted throughout all those yrs and how many QB's were left off your survey.

Chase Daniels.
Where did you get that from? Dixon was knocked out midway through his second start. Batch started the other two games of Big Bens suspension.
In his career, he has started 4 games and won 3. His loss was his first career start in 08.
Hall was the only undrafted rookie to start at QB.
Romo also started as a QB between 1999 and 2010. My mistake.

Re: Data Post #3...

I don't know if this fit's in this set of data per say but I didn't really want to start a new thread. This is a list of the most successful and noteworthy lineman drafted by Shanahan during his time in Denver.

1996
Dan Neil - Guard - 3rd round - (104 Career Starts)
Matt Lepsis - Tackle - Undrafted (133 Starts at LT, 2005 SI All-Pro)

1999
Lennie Friedman - Guard - 2nd round last pick (Former Redskin)

2000
Cooper Carlisle - Guard - Round 4 - 2000 (2 Year Starter in Denver, Current Starter in Oakland)

2001
Ben Hamilton - Center/Guard - Round 4 (Former Bronco 110 Career Starts, Pushed out By McDaniels Regime)

2004
George Foster - Tackle - Round 1 (Bust, Out of the League, Known for infamous cut block)

2005
Chris Meyers - Center/Guard - Round 6 (Current Texans Starter)

2006
Chris Kuper Guard - Round 5 - (Current Bronco's Starter)

2007
Ryan Harris -Tackle - Round 3 (Current Bronco's Starter)

2008
Kory Lichtensteiger - Guard - Round 4 (Current Redskins Starter)
Ryand Clady - Tackle- Round 1

Basically what I learned from this is that rounds 4 through 6 seem to be the sweet spot for interior lineman. The only first round picks Shanahan was willing to use on Lineman was Left Tackles. His two most recent right tackles have come from 3rd round picks (Ryan Harris and Jamaal Brown). It would be nice to see Cook and Capers to become the first successful 7th round lineman under Shanahan.
