So the Coors Light twins are still ok? What's Powell's take on them?

halter91 11-19-2004 05:45 AM

that skit was no worse then General Hospital or any other soap for that matter. Hell half the comercials on Tv for soap are worse. Herbel Essence?

FRPLG 11-19-2004 08:38 AM

I think we're all ignoring the main issue here.

We should be talking about how hot Nicolette is for being 40. I mean comon' who cares what the fanatics think. I say more hot Nicolette and less tubby Michael Powell.

skinsfanthru&thru 11-19-2004 08:39 AM

While I personally didn't find the skit offensive, I could understand why some would. I mean when u turn to football u always expect to see a couple shots of cheerleaders and some beer and ED comercials, but not a partially robed(then not so partially) attractive woman seducing a football player to forget about the game and go have sex in the lockerroom. While I don't think its any worse than more than half the crap on during the morning soaps and primetime, people with families just weren't expecting to be sitting down getting ready to watch football and wham, that skits on and suddenly, like one of the ATH guys said, "the birds and the bees have to be explained when you'd normally be explaining the cover 2 defense." I thought it was pretty clever to cross merchandise the 2 brands, but anyone who put time and effort into the skit shouldn't be acting all naive(sp?) about not knowing how "controversial" this would be.
I know my first thought on the skit wasn't, oh my god what is this filth, but instead was damnit I don't wanna be envious of TO, but damn I'd have switched places with him in that shoot in a heartbeat ;)

MTK 11-19-2004 08:56 AM

Gotta love America, graphic violence is ok, but god forbid someone shows a boob on tv or something is a little racey

That Guy 11-19-2004 09:41 AM

she's 40?? damn... the only thing i found offensive was TO's cardboard acting... I thought the skit was retarded personally, but I can't see what the big deal is... you're about to watch 60+ guys try to kill each other for an hour; god forbid someone shows some bare back... its not like we're amish.
Here is this nominally naked woman jumping onto a man with her legs around him while he ought to be wearing a cup - he's about to go play Monday Night Football would you go and play NFL football without a cup? That has to huit, no?
Haven't you heard, SC? They don't were cups in the NFL anymore.

Unbelievable!

sportscurmudgeon 11-19-2004 09:58 AM

Unbelieveable is right!

MTK 11-19-2004 10:44 AM

When I played ball in high school nobody wore them.

I don't know how you can run with that thing

cpayne5 11-19-2004 11:14 AM

I'm gonna try to stay out of the argument, but I'd like to say one thing.

I don't really like TO, but he really impressed me by apologizing to those that were offended. I thought that it was real classy of him to do that.

cpayne5 11-19-2004 11:16 AM

My God...
Yeah, tell that to Virgil Livers.

He's a former defensive back who played for the Chicago Bears from 1975-79. While fielding a punt at Soldier Field, Livers was speared in the groin. By halftime, one of his testicles had swollen so badly it had to be -- ugh, more flop sweat, oh the cramps ... breathe, breathe! -- drained with a needle by the trainers. Somehow, Livers suited up for the second half. That was a bad idea. A really, really, really bad idea. Later that night, he was rushed to the hospital where the mangled orb was surgically removed.

Now, here's the kicker. When I finally reached Livers, who is an assistant principal at a high school in Kentucky, I asked him about his "injury," and the guy started talking about his knee. Can you believe that? His freakin' knee! The one he blew out with the Bears, then rehabbed for two full years in order to play again in the USFL.

"Uh, well, no, sorry, I was talking about the, uh, the ... "

"Oh that," he laughed. "
diehardskin2982 11-19-2004 11:34 AM

it was a dumb commecial and it just didn't fit in at all. I don't mind it being shown but mike powell is a altra conservative wimp. everyone should know that.

FRPLG 11-19-2004 11:36 AM

That sound you all heard was my head hitting the keyboard after passing out upon reading about Mr. Livers' um "injury".

joethiesmanfan 11-19-2004 11:58 AM

Why is T.O. apologizing shouldnt ABC and Paul Tagliabue be apologizing? he is an employee the policy makers should be apologizing.. that ridiculous incident

I clicked on the link to the ESPN page 2 article but when I came to that part I couldn't read on. I could feel my breakfast curdling in my stomach.

Then someone copies and pastes it here!

thanks!
