I think I read it somewhere in washingtonpost.com's JLC blogs or an article.. I will try to do some digging and see if I could find it.. Edit: I found the blog, here it is; http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/jason-la-canfora/marcus-washington-update.html
Something about Ty Law in a Skins uniform would make me very happy
Why would you want an aging CB coming in to block Barnes and Tryon's developments? |
Re: Updated (06/12/09),defensive and offensive free agents
I'm still having nightmares of MW getting smoked by J. Witten. Leave him on the free agent market.

No Job is promised in the NFL, I don't care if you were drafted by us or not... who ever will help us win... Development is what the practice squad is for. |

 If Horton hadn't of blown his assignment and came over the top like he was suppose to, nobody would have gotten "smoked". |

And Law will be able to cover many WRs? I highly doubt it, and the fact of his availability in the market proves my point.. |

I am excited about Barnes but just because you draft someone shouldn't guarantee a roster spot if a FA would make you better. When you are 8-8 every starting spot should be open. |

Yes, but smart teams also develop their young player, and giving them the opportunity to play in real games (instead of practice) is the best development a player can get. Besides, our CB unit is pretty solid right now, why bring in an aging player to the mix? I don't think anyone is handing Barnes or Tryon a starting spot, but they should see action in the defensive rotation this year, and bringing someone like Law would hinder that. |
Re: Updated (06/12/09),defensive and offensive free agents
Jeremy Tuman would help this team win right now, but I don't think they'll go get him because they want to have Eddie Williams win Yoder's spot as backup FB/3rd TE.
If we were willing to stash Williams on the PS for a year, Tuman could pay off big time on the GL. |

Exactly and I love Gibbs as much as most of the next guys, but the plug in old guys who might be able to do it now approach did set us back. |
Re: Updated (06/12/09),defensive and offensive free agents
Honestly there is no promise that Tryon or Barnes will beat out Smoot or Westbrook for a crack at the starting lineup... An invite to camp doesn't install you instantly in the final roster if you a vetran. It only sets you up with the opportunity to compete. A player like Chris McAllister, Samari Rolle, or Ty Law could come in here and make a positive impact. Filling the roll of the crafty vetran, who can cover the slot and spell Landry at Free Safety on occasion. All I'm worried about is a repeat of the last play of the Rams game last year, when tryon got burned on a game winning play ughh!

That was Torrence not Tryon who got burned, and we cut him. We just need to let the yonger guys step up, and signing a veteran CB would screw up Tyron and Barnes's developement. |

I can't see Westbrook making the team and I can't see us PS'ing a 3rd rounder. |
Re: Updated (06/12/09),defensive and offensive free agents
