Re: ESPN Power Rankings
Based of last yrs performance I can't argue. However, some teams got better and others worse. Eagles may be better but they have to get the new Rookies up to speed on their offense and NFL speed which as we know can be hard to do plus they have to hope for no injuries.
I can't believe the Titans are ranked above us. Simply losing AH their MVP of the defense could hurt them defensively but to also lose their defensive co-ordinator? Please, their defense will not be the same. I see them falling. Dalls will not be a good team this yr. They let their best WR go, then lost too many pieces to their puzzle. Especially on defense. Again Rookies for this team will have to step up big. and with the Michlin man leading them ....decline. It's funny people are questioning us. We had the 4th ranked defense last yr and lost only two pieces to our puzzle. Not essential pieces either. We gained AH who will make our d-line better. We can only stay the course or get better on defense. 4th ranked isn't bad...it almost took us into the play offs. Our only question is on offense and I'll say again for 8 games we played lights out. I don't think it was all the teams finally figuring out what Zorn was doing. I think injuries played a roll. So if we can bring in younger talent (which we did) and healthier talent (which we did) then the o-line should be fine. Which leaves all conjecture to the WR's. Last yrs Rookies will be back healthy both hopefully and both are working out getting to know the plays better. Plus we brought in a lot more WR's to look at including vetrans. I think we will be a better team then 19th ranked. |

Really? He sounds like a great prospect. He had a good year last year. I'm looking forward to watching him play this year when possible. This could be a breakout year for him. |
ESPN actually moving the Skins up to 19 was pretty shocking I was expecting something worse knowing them.
I know most of you hate rankings and I also think they are pointless in May but im bored so here ya go.... 1 Steelers - On top until someone knocks them off. 2 Cardinals - I cant wait to see how they mix Chris Wells in with that offense. 3 Patriots - Brady is back and the Pats are recharged for another SB run. 4 Eagles - Alot of talent but will they choke come playoff time yet again? 5 Colts - The Donald Brown & Joseph Addai situation should be fun to watch. 6 Titans - Even with the loss of Haynesworth they still have a very good team. 7 Bears - The one-two punch of Forte and Cutler should lead to more TDs in 2009. 8 Falcons - The addition of Tony G will make Matt Ryan even more dangerous. 9 Saints - Gregg Williams will be the key to how good the Saints will be. 10 Chargers - A team with a ton of talent but can they get to where they need to be? 11 Cowboys - A new running game approach with no TO should lead to a better offense overall in 2009. 12 Ravens - Will be interesting to see how much better Flacco can be with a year under his belt. 13 Redskins - If Campbell and the offense can score 20 ppg they will be tough to beat. 14 Giants - The losses of Ward and Burress dropped the Giants on my rankings. If rookies like Andre Brown and Hakeem Nicks step up they will be alot better than 14. 15 Vikings - I think Sage will put up good numbers but will he get the chance with Brett Favre on the way? Favre in Minny makes the Vikings a top 5 team. 16 Panthers - After Delhomme's terrible playoff game vs the Cards its hard for me to put the Panthers any higher than this. 17 Bills - Could be fun to watch with TO, Evans, Lynch, and rookie Shawn Nelson. 18 Texans - If the Texans can finally get over the hump they could be a playoff team in 2009. 19 49ers - Mike Singletary will continue to improve this team and shape them up to be winners. 20 Seahawks - The Hawks still have pieces but at the sametime too many question marks. 21 Packers - The new 3-4 defense will make it hard for the Packers this year. 22 Dolphins - Their Schedule is tough and teams know all about the Wildcat this year. 23 Jags - Solid team with too many holes. Del Rio is on the hot seat. 24 Bengals - I like the Bengals as a sleeper if the defense plays up to the level that they can. Palmer has to stay healthy. 25 Raiders - Young talent on offense and a very good defense. Probably a year away. 26 Broncos - The offense may actually still be pretty good but the defense is terrible and adjusting to a 3-4. 27 Chiefs - Too many question marks and the loss of Tony G will hurt. 28 Jets - I see the late collapse from 2008 continuing in 2009. 29 Bucs - A team that is a shell of its former self. 30 Browns - Solid draft but this team has alot of problems and a terrible Head Coach. 31 Rams - Lucky to be ranked at 31. 32 Lions - They have to win a game before I can even consider moving them up.
Wow you're really down on the Giants, huh? I can't see them dropping that far, maybe lower portion of the top 10. I don't see any areas other that RB and LB where the Cowboys are better than us. I see Atlanta and Baltimore coming back to the pack this year. They had nice runs but Atlanta had an easy schedule last year and Baltimore is going to feel the loss of Rex Ryan more than expected. Consider me a Grilliams non believer until proven otherwise. |

They are the only team who I have finishing 4th in their division in my top 22. I think they just as easily could be where the Cowboys are at 11. The Cowboys and Redskins are both going to have playoff teams this year imo. I think both teams defenses will be very good. I think the Cowboys offense will be more effective than ours. Its really just a toss up we very easily could have the better team. Once again we should split our season series. I ranked Baltimore lower than most at 12 because I agree with you. I think they will be a good football team but not as good as last years. Atlanta I actually like. Matt Ryan proved me wrong last year and seems to be the next great QB in the NFL. The addition of Tony G is going to make their offensive really explosive imo. With Turner and Norwood running the ball and Roddy White making plays I see them really taking the next step. I also think the defense is solid. As for Gregg Williams all he has to do is make the Saints defense average. Kinda like what the Skins need to do on offense he needs to do for the Saints on defense. I think he can give the Saints defense a pulse and with that offense they should do some good things in 2009. Hell if the offense stays healthy they could reach the Super Bowl. |

Re: ESPN Power Rankings
I like John Clayton's opinions most of the time. He had us at 12. Again, not that it means anything, just saying....

Yeah really, he was real good at basketball too, mostly because he was so strong, but he also has good hands and feet, which is also obvious since he has played RB/FB. Also, anybody know if there is a way to get an e-mail if somebody replies to you or quotes you? That would be convenient such as in this case when it took me a year to reply. |

Yet they ranked them at 32. Um, from where I'm sitting, 32 last year & 32 next year is stagnant. |
