Re: What was the first album you ever bought?
When I a kid, my grandmother gave me some birthday money which I used to buy this rump shaker
That was probably my first album...or New Edition's Candy Girl (on vinyl of course) I also vaguely remember Musical Youth's Pass the Dutchie (single, on vinyl) Those were the days when you had to drop the needle on the record, and then the best part was always seeing what the B-side track was going to be. Kids these days with their ipods... |
Think back long and hard, what was the first album you ever bought with your own money?
I was 12 at the time I actually bought two at the same time and thankfully they weren't embarrassing choices looking back now. Van Halen's 1984 and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. Both on cassette.
I have a poster of the 1984 album with the little boy on it hung in my office. I have had that poster forever follows me every where. Now that my son is getting older he eirely (sp) is starting to look more and more like that little boy. Karma? first album was Quiet Riot Metal Health, good stuff, Slick Black Cadialac.. |

Re: What was the first album you ever bought?
I don't think I bought an Album for myself until I was 16 or so. I'm pretty sure it was RHCP's Greatest Hits, and I bought it while on vacation.
My childhood was littered with "variety" compilations like 'Living in the 90's' and 'Cool Rock' and 'Jock Jams'. I remember the day I found out Shaquille O'Neal played basketball too! |
Re: What was the first album you ever bought?
The first one I bought wtih my own money was Tool's Undertow. Before that I would just record my own mix tapes off the radio.Anyone else do that sort of thing?

Re: What was the first album you ever bought?
I bet it was Abba
I'm only 30...Abba are you kidding me? Abba...? Don't talk to me about Abba! No, I cannot remember but it would have been something more along the lines of 2Pac, Mob Deep, Outkast, or worse Crucial Conflict. I think that it was Crucial Conflict, but I cannot remember. My willingness to accept my deep seeded love for classic rock did not flourish until my 20's. Until then I was drowned in a sea of mixed cultures influencing hypocritical wannabees into portraying something that they were not. I still have an appreciation for all kinds of music, but now I annunciate words and I wear my pants around my waist instead of below my ass. |

Crucial Conflict? Smokin on Hay!! Hahaha. Outkast is always good. Definitely some of my faves back in the day. I still have Mobb Deep and Outkast on the Ipod. Good music for the weightroom. I still have every word of ATLiens and Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik memorized. |

I definately agree, good lifting music. I am ashamed of some of the songs that I have memorized. Yes, Smokin on Hay is one of them...sadly. I, like every other white guy on the planet has Ice Ice Baby memorized also, am I right...am I right?...Fellas? Shit, I knew I shouldn't have said that. |
Re: What was the first album you ever bought?
First album I ever bought was Kill Em All by Metallica but the first album I ever remember listening to was their "black" album when my uncle introduced me to them.
