Heres the deal, the redskins are helping to push the market up for Hayensworth, we really have no intention of signing him at all. The big signing will be Hall ,and DE/DT Chris Canty..Along with them a Guard(D.Dockery) & a FA OT

PS..Say Bye Bye to J.Taylor...
If we sign Hall, Canty, etc. we won't necesarily need to cut JT but we'll see.

If we do sign AH, I don't see how we'll be able to do much else without cutting JT, or maybe Springs instead.

Re: Free Agency and Salary Cap

I posted this over in the Dockery thread but I think it is more applicable here:

To me, our entire off-season plan hinges on the result of the AH deal. If it happens, then I don't foresee signing anybody other than Hall. If it doesn't, then let's sign Dock, S. Andrews, Canty and Crowley. Solid pick-ups at reasonable prices.

IMO, it is akin to the 2004 off-season. Jevon Kearse was the big-money aquisition. We went after him hard. Instead of throwing (at the time) obscene money at him and getting no one else, we let him go to Phil. Instead, we gave solid contracts to M. Washington, C. Griffin, S. Springs, J. Salavea and T. Tupa.

I would much prefer a free-agent class similar to the 2004 group than one big signing.

When does free agency start? I heard that it started tonight at 12:01am but I also thought it is FRI night at 12:01am.

If it is tonight then I'm staying up late and checking breaking football news. Then I'll go to sleep with the thoughts of sugar-loaded contracts dancing through my head.

I think the interest is legit in Haynesworth. Haynesworth's interest in us is defnitely legit

Haynesworth could easily go to Tampa Bay and get tons of money. What do you think is his interest to come to DC?

You think Tampa Bay wouldn't be able to give him more money than we could? I mean they do have 50 mil of cap space.

there's a difference between tons of money, and dan snyder's version of tons of money. i'm sure it's purely financial.

True, there's no bigger stage than the NFC Beast right now. Plus he can do some Cowboy stomping 2x a year lol

Yeah, but are they willing to drop that money on him in a bad market. The face value of tickets may not be effected. But you have to figure that jersey sales, food sales, and advertising money is going to decrease. So it's a risk.

And the reason they have cap space, is because they've been relatively frugal in spending money. It would take a business model shift for them to drop $15 mill a year on something considered to be high risk. Which he is.

Dan is gambler, and is not afraid of high risk items, if he can envision a payoff, or playoff, if you will.

The interest is legit, and I garuntee you Haynesworth knows that the Skins sign big time names like this all the time, and what happens is that in a couple years, Hayneworth is going to pull a Portis and have his contract restructured over and over to clear cap space giving Haynesworth even more garunteed money. It makes sense to me, and Snyder has no problem dishing out the chedda!!!! I mean, the guy owns Tom Cruise for god sakes!!!!
